My deflock project, Cherries Jubilee before and after
« on: July 03, 2012, 06:23:31 AM »
I got a pretty yucky Cherries Jubilee with bad eye rub, flocking rub, bad hair, and just plain dirty, so I gave her a deflocking and a fix up:)

Here she is before.

Oh, good job! ^.^  If you don't mind my asking, what did you do/use to get her looking so good?  I'm still scrubbing glue grot off my Satin'n'Lace, and it's sloooooooooow going... :(

Thanks everyone:D  I think she displays quite nicely and I was amazed at how well of a paint match I came up with for her bad eye.  I was worried about that, but it took one quick try and I realized it was  a perfect match:)

Oh, good job! ^.^  If you don't mind my asking, what did you do/use to get her looking so good?  I'm still scrubbing glue grot off my Satin'n'Lace, and it's sloooooooooow going... :(

This is my 3rd deflock, I had a lot of trouble with Fifi, more than the other 2 anyway. I was running out of acetone and trying to finish her with non-acetone nail polish remover tho.

What I did was boil water, put a scoop of oxyclean in a bucket, poured the water in, threw in the pony.  I let her soak until it was cool enough, rubbed the flocking off with my fingernails.  After that I used acetone and paper towels(lots of 'em)  to wipe away the glue.  I kept putting the pony in a bucket of soapy water in between to keep the glue from re-hardening.    I changed my water 2 or 3 times.  Does this help?

Thank you, Rainbowstars! ^.^  That's pretty much what I've been doing with Satin'n'Lace, except for the acetone.  Her glue is just being more stubborn, I guess.  Ah, well.

Seriously, though... your Cherries Jubilee, deflocked, looks just like mine who never was flocked to begin with.  Beautiful job!

You REALLY need to get some acetone!  I'm telling you it's the best for the glue:)

do you still use acetone on the glue over the symbols? I'm scared to ruin the paint.

Some people use something else called Jax or something, but I just used the acetone and I did use it over the symbols, VERY carefully.  I first got most of the glue surrounding the symbols off and did very quick swipe over the symbol, and then dipped the pony in my bucket of water right after swiping.  There is still a minor amount of glue on there that is not noticeable on display.

She looks gorgeous! Congrats...if I was you I would mark her as a deflock as if for any reason you decided to sell her in the future she could potentially be confused with the later UK/Scandinavian release of magenta symbol CJ as your deflock is so beautifully done!
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
