When my niece was very small she was fascinated with my ponies.  I kept a few spares around for her to play with, and some G3 playsets.  We had a saying that was easy for her to remember: pony on the shelf, hands to yourself.  Pony on the ground, party on down.  If the pony was on a shelf, it was for looking at.  If the pony was on the floor, it was there for her to play with.

Ponies aside, I would probably let responsible kids play with monster high dolls. There are a few perhaps not, that I am a bit protective of, but not most of them. Just I would want them to be responsible since hands come off...

Nope. When my niece and her friends were younger, I wouldn't even let them in my room. And if I had my own place, it'd be a childfree zone :P

Yes, with the exceptions of customs one moc (for odvious reasons).

Given the contition I get most of mine in it is safe to say they have being rough much worse than kids playing with them . Plus at the end of the day they are toys (yes now collectors items) but toys none the less so are their to be enjoyed, I enjoy looking at them and kids enjoy playing with them. Otherwise what is the point of having them if who ever has them is not enjoying them.

I'd generally say I wouldn't let a kid play with anything I actually collect, that's part of my collection.  But I usually have a couple toys around in my trade box that are of the same brand (MLP, Transformers, whatever) and I would let a kid play with those.

Some kids are gentler than others, but even normal, gentle play can result in a toy getting broken.  Many a gentle child ended up breaking flutter wings, scratching of Magic Message symbols, snapping off limbs from Transformers, etc.  It's not intentional or "bad", but accidents happen.  Don't let a kid play with a toy if you aren't okay with that possiblity, it's not fair to the kid.

I don't have kids and am rarely around kids in general but I wouldn't want them to play with my collection. I try to keep everything in good condition and I don't want scuffs and other signs of damage added to my items. I would just keep a little group of things I don't consider part of my collection for kids to play with if I was around them alot.

Depends on the kid. My niece is very rough with her toys and I doubt she'd take care of mine any better. But one of my close friends has a cousin who can play with my ponies just fine.

When I do let kids play with my ponies, it's G3 and G4 only, and only the ponies that are in less than okay condition. Most kids don't seem to care about playing with ponies with haircuts or ink stains.

I wanted to add it also depends a lot on the toy too . . . A plush toy can take a lot of rough treatment compared to, say, a porcelain doll. ;)

Not my more expensive toys, like the resin ones or Tonner dolls.  But I'm ok with all the ones that were marketed to children.  I was a kid too, I know how much joy it brings to play with toys.
