Title: Unexpected arena purchase problem...
Post by: willa on February 11, 2012, 10:59:15 AM
So, I bought a nirvana from a member at the arena and was told there were no big flaws however
when I received her despite being a beauty, she has tail rust  :(

I have no problem cleaning rust, however her neck seam is so tight I don't want to attempt it...

Have been in contact with the seller, think that are hoping i will grow to love her anyway

Not sure what to do?  :(

You don't necessarily need to take her head off to help with the tail rust :)

Use some toothpaste on her tail with an old toothbrush, it should help clear it up a bit.

 I know how frustrated you probably feel right now.

Can I ask what pony it was?  And how bad the tail rust is?

I do see you said you were in contact with her.  Did the two of you discuss maybe a partial refund of some sort?

She is dutch diary and the rust isn't too bad...
such a shame to open her up as she is so lovely just worried it may get worse over time...

im sorry to hear your pony isnt as good as you thought she would be :(

it most likely will get worse over time. i heard that if tail rust is left untreated for a while, it will start eating away at the inside of the body. the rust can discolor the pony's body sometimes too. and most of the time a pony with rust also has mold. honestly i think it would be a lot worse to have your rare, gorgeous nirvana pony to turn really rusty, discolored, and more moldy and smelly over time than to break the neck seal and clean her up now. just my 2 cents.

either way i hope that you and the seller can come to an agreement of some sort!

I guess my next question is What do you want to do about it?

Do you feel a partial refund may be sufficient? Or return her all together?
I am sure she is lovely, but if the rust is going to get worse over time without cleaning her I would suggest returning her.  I don't think your ever going to feel right about her if you don't.

I would hope your seller understands this especially if she was not as described.

Communication is the key to any and all transactions. If you aren't happy with her simply tell your buyer! Give her some compliments to soften the blow and then explain that while you were thrilled with the pony in all other aspects you truly feel that the tail rust is a major flaw in your opinion.

I hope that your buyer is willing to work with you! Let us know how it goes!!

aww hun! how disappointing for you!  I have to agree with the others - the tail rust will only get worse over time if left untreated, so you would have to take off the pony's head and clean it all out :yikes: .  While your seller may possibly have missed the tail rust if it isnt too bad (pics would be helpful if possible ;) ) , its still a major flaw, and it will effect the value of your pony.  if you dont want to attempt to clean this pony yourself then I think its fair that the seller should let you return her for a full refund. If you  can bring yourself to break the neck seal and clean the pony so that you can keep her (and if you are happy doing this), then you should ask your seller for a partial refund :awake:
I know its difficult when its another Arena member, but hopefully they will be willing to work things out with you. Do let us know how it goes

I honestly didn't notice the tailrust. I was sure she had no big flaws, like i said.
I PMed you, i am willing to give you a partial refund but if you don't feel good about it anymore, i guess you have to send her back to me for a full refund.

There is nothing more that i can do!

It's easy to miss things when you describe something, it's human.
