Title: A *glittery* Hello, world!
Post by: glitterball on December 12, 2016, 10:35:44 AM
Hi everyone!

I am glitterball and I remember getting my first ever pony, Cotton Candy, back in the 80s, after pestering my Dad for aaaages to find one for me! A girl at school had Blossom and another had Bubbles and I fell in love with these sweet ponies!

I played with Cotton Candy every day, taking care to keep her mane and tail tangle-free and learning to plait in threes (and eventually in fours) and perfecting my bow-tying technique with the lilac ribbon.

Over the next birthdays/Christmas times I acquired further ponies... my new faves being the vibrantly-haired Honeycomb (with the cutest glitter bees) and the sweetly-freckled Gypsy. I just loved the proud poses that the new unicorns came in.

Then I "grew up", went to a new school etc. The ponies were lovingly stored in the attic (where I would make visits to them often!) and life "got in the way"...

Roll-on many years... and I find myself finding the odd G1 at bootsales, so of course I buy them (nostalgia...) and now I have a daughter who has started to "get into" ponies... the current G4, of course... but now I am slowly fetching my old ponies, washing them etc and hoping that she will fall in love with them too!

I am a bit of an arty-crafty person and love a bit of glitter glam... and am thinking of doing a rescue project on some of the poorly ponies that I have bought recently. Am currently experimenting with pop bottles & angelina film for replacement flutter wings and feel a re-root may be fun too (I have re-rooted Pippas, Sindys and transformed a haircut Elsa into her brunette mother Queen, along with making a new crown etc. so think that a pony will be great fun to tackle!) question is - what style to do first, eh?

Anyway, I am hoping to find inspiration and tips from these boards and would love to share my ideas with other pony-passion-istas!

xx

Thank you, Griffin!

I need to find time over the Christmas holidays to make a start on "tidying up" some of those ponies that need a little tlc ;)

I am slowly building up an arsenal of tools to aid in the task: toothbrushes, forceps, clamps, sun-reactive pimple cream,  nail varnish remover and oxi powder for starters! Then after cleaning comes the REAL fun - new pony hair!  :art:   :socks:

So next step - ordering some lovely hair... but the hardest part is choosing which pony to start first ;)

Welcome to the Arena, glitterball!

Very jealous of your Gypsy. Would love to have her, she was never sold in the states so I'd have to buy her from someone overseas. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun restoring and customizing. Enjoy the forums!

Thanks, Bekuno!
I'm sure you'll be lucky and find a Gypsy soon - she pops up now and then on UK-based ebay - she really is very sweet and much prettier in-person   :lovey:
