I don't know if you ever figured out the answers to your questions or not, but I will do my best. I use ceramcoat cause I am cheap and it has a LOT of colors that do not require mixing. I had to go back and repair a woona two years later and was able to match the paint. As for solids into brushies? Well something to keep in mind is most are solid so you are gonna need a dremal, some hot water and patience.
Your gonna have to start off softening the plastic with a boiling bath. You can hack away with an x-acto but BE CAREFUL. Fingers are friends!! After a while you will get the tail and the hair off. You will need to resculpt missing pieces back on that hair was covering with apoxie sculpt. You can sand and smooth it down over time. eventually you will have a basic pony. Then you can finally drill your plugs. You won't be able to drill all the way through so stil your plug in with glue and there ya go.
Its a labor of love more than anything, so make sure you feel its worth it. It ultimately depends on the mcdonald pony as well. They had so many come out. Which ones are you talking about?

You know I have to play DH advocate here. I was able to get a $200 + order with her within a week. If your in a time crunch, best to e-mail her and tell her as much. I just placed an order last night. If you have Tea Rose I will so trade you my Sour Grapes. If not, how much of the purple do you need?

I was working on a custom I need ready for bronycon, and I ran out of Tea Rose! I would happily get this from Dollyhair, but i am unsure about the time constraints. Anyone have a hank they would sell or trade??

I would say for a first time swap, stick to official ponies. Oc's can get really complex. They may have gradients, complex cuties, horns and who knows what else.

These are a few more customs I made for the pony fair. The Twinkle Eyes have Swarovski crystals for eyes. Any sculpting was done with Apoxie sculpt. They are painted with acrylics and sealed with Testors dull/gloss coat. This past year was my first pony fair and for it I made all of the Flutters in to g4 ponies! None of them sold, but I still wanted to show them off. They are still available if anyone wants one. Right now I am just feeling if there would be an interest for this swap. I love turning some of the g4 characters into g1 ponies. Its always a challenge to find a pose and sometimes even get a little creative with the hair and what not. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in this sort of swap. There would probably be two different sections if there is enough interest. A basic one and an advanced one. The basic would be a basic pony like Rainbow dash or pinkie pie, while advanced would be Mr. Cake, Flim or Flam. Ponies that would need their accessories or even minor sculpting added to them. So what do y'all think. I figure 3 week sign up time, maybe a two month working time and then a week for shipping? I would love to hear ideas and feed back for this. Here are a few g4-g1 I have done visitors can't see pics , please register or login

So I found Jinafire for $6 at a thrift store (along with many others) Only problem is she is missing her hairstick and tail. I have the curly thing that goes around the hair stick...someone used it as a bracelet.
Anyone have some spares? I can buy or I can offer a free custom face up of your doll in trade. I can post pics of my work if anyone needs

There is one over at my toys R-us. I can pick her up if your interested. All I would ask is you pay shipping and handling. They only had the one so I would have to check for you and see if she is there...
