Life got crazy for a while and I dropped off the face of the forums.  Well, we have finally settled in and I've unpacked some boxes and found my ponies and my customizing supplies.  Looks like I just need some fresh paints and a new rehairing tool.  I'm super eager to work on a new custom and have pulled out a Boysenberry Pie bait.  I'm thinking about making a summer custom to do with pineapples.  While I really miss custom swaps, I've never made a custom for myself before, so this could be fun!

Is the place I use to get har now & I believe you can buy a re rooting tool there as well.

For my last post I brought an 8oz thing of acrylic gloss from Amazon.. I didn't have to mix it or anything once the paint was dry I just painted this on top and the paint became glossy.

This custom I'm working on... I mean, I don't even know if I can call it a custom at this point. It's a sculpture with pony parts. I'm having a hard time painting it because I only have one angled brush and it's a short handle. I can't reach some places very well, or see them when I can't pick it up when it's wet. It's taking FOR EV ERRRRR

Welcome back, RedLynx!  I've just recently come back myself and I feel the pain of having to replace almost all of my paints, though my rehairing tool was still good.   

Finally finished two of the commissions I've been working on for the past few weeks.  I've got one more on the workbench that is seriously going to test my detail painting skill.  The symbol is an open book with a white rose in the middle and she wants it on both sides so I have to do it twice!

I have a question what is HQG1C ponies mean in the customizing world?

HQG1C are ponies that are fan made. They are just like regular G1s, only they have their own designs.

They sell blanks of some poses, like a Big Brother. Some are glittery and blank. There were also some black ones, but I think they're sold out. The blanks are getting harder to find. I hope they make more.

That's odd; they had a few completely blank ponies with them at the fair. Now I wish I'd bought them, but I decided to pass. Ah, well.

RedLynx, good to see you! I've only been back for a few months, at this point. Have yet to even look over my custom supplies, so I'm hoping my paints haven't dried up.

oh wow!!! so that's why there are so many customs of big brother ponies! they where HQG1C's That I was seeing... they where not actually big brothers from the G1 line? do people use a 3D Printer to make these fan made Ponies or how are they made I was wondering how they got so many glittery bodys?

Yes, most of the Big Brothers you see are HQG1C these days.

They are actually made in a factory in China, I believe. Some people got together from the community to fund the project. The main guy is named Clipper in the community. There actually used to be a HQG1C forum here, but it didn't get a lot of activity so it was take down.

I'm almost done with this custom Just a few more layers of fur then a trim and pictures and I can send him in to the judges. I can't post him anywhere until after the winners are announced and the festival hasn't started yet. The deadline was the 22nd so I'm assuming it starts next week.

I've considered the HQG1C ponies before but I just can't justify the cost.  I understand the process and why they are so expensive but it puts them out of my reach unfortunately.  It's too bad because I'd love more Big Brother poses to work with, not to mention how pretty the sparkly ones are!

As far as my customs go, I finally managed to finish the symbol painting on the commission I've been working on.  It's been a challenge and a half but it's finally to the point that I'm happy enough with it to stop working on it at least!     I hope to finish the rest of him today, do his hair and get him posted tomorrow.   

I haven't worked on any other ponies because I felt guilty working on something else when I knew that commission needed to be done so now I feel like I have the freedom to start working on some personal projects again.  My G1 Nightlight replica is almost done and I did a rehair of a G1 birthflower pony that's almost done as well so I'm planning to get those finished up in the next couple of days.

What's everyone else working on?

I'm probably going to do something simple after this. I have a G3 unicorn I want to make wings for and then make all sparkly. All white. I have this mirror glitter I picked up from somewhere and boy is it shiny and sparkly! I also have an extreme glitter paint. Not sure which to use. For hair... hmm, I might order some tinsel. I've got several Swarovski crystals to put on him too.

I also have the winged Big Brother from three years or so ago to finish. He just needs to be airbrushed and rehaired.

My main focus though is going to be needle felting for a while. And getting back into making miniatures. I want to open an Etsy shop before my birthday in October. So I need things to list
