I'm a fan of G4 (and the G1 movies after I checked those out too)
but I don't see why they need to be jerks about it, even if I don't personally like G3

It's nothing to worry about; they've said before that they're just joking anyway.  Most of them are quite nice and respectful if you mention that you like the older gens. :)
