Pony Corral / Re: Fakie Thread
« on: November 17, 2023, 11:12:49 PM »
Ohhh I’ve become a huge fakie fan over the past couple years! The fakie Friday trend on Instagram really sold me on how cute they can be! Here are some of my photos of mine from over the years!

I’ve rehaired a few of them. IMO the main thing that makes a lot of fakies look cheap is their awful hair!

I’m also a huge fan of the filly toys! It’s probably debatable on if they are “fakies” since I know they have really become their own thing. But man if I didn’t pick up my first couple because they reminded me so much of G3 ponies!

It’s always fun to see everyone’s backgrounds and such! Here are mine for my phone and the iPad. Both were taken at some campsites I’ve stayed at. The one on my phone was right after a monsoon rolled through, it’s not edited at all! They sky was just really that pretty! :)

And here’s my desktop background for work. I hardly get to see it since all three screens are usually covered in junk, but it’s better than the default lol!

Off Topic / Cool Rock/Gemstone Thread
« on: November 17, 2023, 10:49:15 PM »
Is anyone here into rockhounding or picking up cool rocks? If so I thought I’d start a thread for us to show off our finds! I’m a real amateur, I just picked up the hobby a few months ago when I got a rock tumbler. I don’t know what rocks are what or anything like that, I just pick up things I think look cool!

Here are a few of my favorites from my first batch of “wild” rocks I tumbled! :P All of these were found in various locations around town. Most are from a campground I stayed at, but some are actually just regular old landscape rocks.

Here’s another batch I have tumbling right now. These were all picked up at another campground. They’re in the final polishing stage now so hopefully they will be done soon!

I’d love to see any cool rocks or gemstones you all have! They can be store bought or wild found, anything goes here! :)

Customs / Recent Customs Dump! Halloween, fakies, and more!
« on: October 30, 2023, 11:58:59 PM »
I’ve been busy working on customs over the past few months and wanted to make a thread to show them off in one place! :)

The first custom is this bat pony I made for Peepersponies in the Halloween swap

Peepersponies mentioned they liked pastel green and pink in their interests so I wanted to challenge myself and try to create a non conventional color scheme. In order to make sure she stayed distinctly Halloween, I thought making her a bat pony would make it clear she was spooky even if her colors are softer. I looked at some inspiration photos for pastel Halloween aesthetics and overall I’m very pleased with how she turned out! I sculpted her wings, fluffy parts, and nose with apoxie sculpt.

Up next is another Halloween pony, Pumpkin Sparkle!

She is a custom version of the unrealeased G3 pony Ragamuffin posted over in the pony corral. :) I think the colors I selected are maybe a bit more purple than the colors in the image, but I’m still happy with her! I tried to stay as faithful to making her look like a classic G3 as I could! I also added a bit of sparkle to her symbol just because!

Up next is Tiki Time!

She was made from a dollar tree Pegasus fakie. She is actually a failed airbrush experiment…I got a cheap airbrush for makeup off Amazon hoping it might work for customs too, but the paint got clogged up pretty quick so I had to hand paint her instead. Lesson learned though, the really watery paint did go on much smoother than some of my other full body repaints! The sculpted flowers on her tail were also added out of necessity, I cut her tail hole WAY too big by accident, so I had to make it smaller again somehow.

Lastly we have baby s’more!

She started her life as a baby fifi that I was trying to restore…..she was severely discolored and had a mane cut so I had placed her outside to sun fade. Unfortunately, she feel in a hard to access spot while outside and by the time I got her out she had developed mold that gave her horrible purple splotches All over her body. :( Sorry baby fifi! I don’t like to give up on ponies though so I decided to turn her into a custom. She also was a failed experiment with the airbrush that I ended up handpaimting . The black color and cooler weather outside made me think of roasting s’mores and boom, that’s how she came to be!

Hope you enjoy! :)

I go all out for Halloween every year! It might be my favorite holiday….idk it’s always a toss up between Halloween and Christmas! I think I’ve posted my indoor decor before but here it is again. Fun fact, I moved into my house in October so I bought Halloween decor before I ever bought normal home decor, so in some regards my home was designed for Halloween!

I don’t have much outside since I also have the problem of no trick or treaters haha! I usually just go to my parents house to hand out candy since they always get a good group. I thought I had pictures of the yard decor I made for my parents house but I’m not seeing any pictures saved! I’ll try and take some to add in here. It’s all Haunted Mansion themed.

One of my favorite things to do is carve pumpkins! Here’s the pumpkin I carved just a day ago for a pumpkin carving contest that happens every year at a local brewery. :) I won the prize for the best beer themed pumpkin and got a $50 gift card! I won last year too, so I think next year it’s time to challenge myself and go for the overall best in show. :P

I know I will be getting my parents PubPasses! It’s like little booklet with a bunch of local breweries that you can go around and try. They give you a pint of beer for a penny at each location. We’ve been doing it for the past two years and it’s not even a surprise at this point lol, we have already talked about how we wonder what breweries will be on the next one!

I’m also considering getting both my parents tickets to devour which is a great local food festival here. The tickets are really pricey….but I don’t really know what else to get them so I’m thinking an experience like that may be better than a bunch of trinkets they don’t really need? We went once before and it was a great experience so I know it’s worth the price. I also got my dad a subscription to a beer delivery service last year when I failed to get him Devour tickets for last Christmas. He’s really been enjoying that so I’m tempted to renew it, but that’s kind of on the pricey side too. I guess we’ll see!

My sister is always fairly easy, she loves bath and spa stuff so I can al2ays get her a variety of bath bombs and face masks and she usually happy with that! She recently became a teacher too, I’ve thought of getting her stuff for her classroom, but she’s frankly got it pretty well stocked right now so I’m not sure if she needs anything else right now!

Pony Corral / Re: Arena Interview - Rainlove The Pegasus!

Fellow rock collector here! I recently picked up rock tumbling as a hobby so I’ve really had my nose to the ground trying to find rocks that may polish up well! My parents make fun of me when we’re camping but it’s prime rock territory! I feel you on the lack of space as well. Hopefully you can get your own space soon! After many years of dreaming I finally did manage to move out and get a proper pony room. It’s a lot of hard work, but it is possible!

Great interview Rainlove! :)

Off Topic / Re: Candles
« on: October 17, 2023, 01:30:28 AM »
I finally placed an order with Goose Creek, Im excited to try their candles! :) That sale over the weekend was way too good to pass up! Then B&BW was having a buy one get one sale and I had a 20% off coupon, so I did a bit of candle shopping there too. I’ve got quite a collection coming!

I’m really disappointed with an order I placed a month or so back with Charmed Aroma. They have jewelry in their candles so they tend to be on the expensive side, but they have some really cute seasonal stuff and collabs with Disney that I like. They had a pretty good sale so I bought a couple candles, but one arrived broken! No big deal, I had this happen with a birthday gift I got from them once and they replaced it with no hassle. They did that again this time, but my replacement was broken too! They sent me another replacement that arrived that is one piece, but the jar still has cracks in it! I’m too tired to keep fighting it at this point, but for how expensive their candles are I REALLY wish they’d ship with more care. Between this debacle and the birthday candle that’s three candles I’ve gotten from them that are broken upon arrival. I think I’ll be hesitant to order from them again in the future.

Thanks BC and Ponyfan! :) Sorry your earrings got stuck Ponyfan! Mine did too and I still remember how painful it was when my dad did finally manage to get them out. I won’t lie, I’m a little afraid of having to take the news ones out for that reason haha! I think these are healing well though, as of today I hardly feel them there at all.

PBW, I’ve used liquid plumber on my skinks and showers and it’s worked wonders! Unfortunately my drains don’t have proper covers, so I have hair clogs often. I hope you find something that clears it up!

My stomach is super messed up and I don’t even know why. I didn’t eat anything recently that is a usual trigger.

Dragon pony!! Normally I’m not a huge fan of non pony characters, but the dragon is pony looking enough that I’m tempted! The little Sparky is kinda cute too. :)

What cool finds! It’s awesome to see “new” G3 characters after all these years, even if they are just illustrations! You have a good eye to notice these are new characters!

I may have to try my hand at making that pumpkin pony a custom before spooky season is over. I just ADORE her and I have a baity petal blossom that might be the perfect color! Banana split is super cute too! I love rainbow haired ponies! :)

Pony Corral / Re: Hasbro's Most Baffling MLP Decisions
« on: October 13, 2023, 10:01:38 PM »
To this day I’m STILL baffled by Hasbro’s decision to move away from collectibility to just a core cast of characters for the toys. The thing that drew me to MLP as a kid was all the different characters! I loved going to the store and seeing what new ponies were out. If it was just the same few ponies over and over in the toy aisle I don’t think I would have gotten hooked on MLP like I did. Ah well, on the bright side all the re-releases are good for my wallet! I don’t buy as many new ponies anymore since…there just isn’t anything new to get.

You got this Starflashbaby! I know working up the energy to exercise is tricky. I still struggle with it. In fact, I’ve fallen off the wagon again haha I have not been to the gym recently. In my opinion and experience diet is far more important to weight loss than exercise. Not saying exercise isn’t important, because it is! But I didn’t truly start losing until I took a hard look at what I was eating and adjusted accordingly. It sounds like you are starting to make some good adjustments there, so that’s a great start!

BC, if I was closer I’d totally help put together your bike. Call me crazy but I actually love assembling furniture! It’s like a puzzle! To build off Starflashbaby’s suggestion maybe someone on Task Rabbit could help? I’m not sure how expensive they are since I’ve never tried them myself, but I know they specialize in furniture assembly!

Way to go with losing three more pounds Ponyfan! That’s definitely a huge accomplishment you should be proud of!

I’ve lost a little more weight! I’ve got about 5 pounds left to go until I’m at my goal. :) I signed up for a 5k this winter. I don’t have much stamina for running, so I’ll probably walk most of it, but I think it will be a fun activity! Even though the race is timed there are no prizes, so it won’t be stressful. I’m too competitive to enter one with prizes haha! I’m going to try and slowly build up my running ability before then! I do actually like running, I just can’t go far.

Thank you BC and Beth! I had a poor experience with Claire’s as well, which is part of why I’ve been dragging my feet on trying a piercing again. The good news is I finally got brave and did get my ears Pierced today! Our mall has a specialized piercing store where they use actual needles over guns, and after talking to the staff there I felt confident they were legit and knew what they were doing. They also told me a could sleep on my piercings! Apparently the stay off of them rule is only for upper ear piercings, not for lobes.

As we were discussing after care my piercer told me that when a piercing gun is used it doesn’t actually create a hole in the ear - instead it just forced the earring in and they have YOU twist the jewelry after to create the hole. What happened with my Claire’s petrifying was the earrings got almost stuck to my ear and they were almost impossible to remove. I wonder if maybe I didn’t create enough of a hole? I remember having to fidget with the earrings really grossed me out, so I’m happy I don’t have to do that this time around!

I don’t want to go back to work tomorrow. I had three days off and it was sooo nice to just relax! Back to the craziness!
