What's a TRU outlet like??
« on: June 01, 2014, 12:09:20 PM »
Has anyone been to one? I have never heard of one until the other day. Can anyone give me insight on what to expect if I go to one?

I have two in nearby cities, I don't like going to them. They're small and messy and they don't always have anything 'new'. Heck the one a few towns over still has pony stuff from the Canterlot Wedding days!

They did have a few new things and some funrise plushies though (The giant ones and mini's).

My experience has been the same. And the prices have actually always been higher at the ones I've been too.

Same here as well.  I would check out one, to see what kind of old stock they have, but don't expect much.  :)

Oh alright, I won't get my hopes up. I have to go to Vegas for a week for work and the outlet is across from the hotel. There are other stores there as well, so all won't be wasted. :) But I am a severe penny pincher. I am just hoping to find some LPS and maybe a pony item. *shrug*

Mostly lame older items.  Some times you get lucky and find older releases of ponies.

I like the outlets. (Or at least I use to) I found Legend of Zelda, Mighty morphin power ranger, and other goodies that I drew up with. I haven't seen a TRU outlet store in forever though, plus apparently those items are back in and considered "vintage"

I don't know if it's just the outlet mall I got to but there never seems to be as deep discounts as you would expect from an outlet. At least from what I remember outlets used to having years ago. Nowadays stores make specialty outline lines to sell that are really not much cheaper than their regular stores.

The one nearest to me closed years ago, but it was like island of the misfit crappy toys.  If there was a shelfwarmer in a toy line, the outlet would have 50 of them.  It was small and messy too.

I ran into one last month when I went downstate.  It was very small and cramped and had a lot less to choose from than a normal TRU.
