Whatcha Reading?
« on: March 15, 2012, 03:41:20 PM »
So a super awesome friend (Surfstar) has been kind enough to lend me the Hunger Games Trilogy via Kindle, and I've been burning through them! Soon, I'll be lacking Katniss' adventures, and am always looking for other awesome things to read. So tell me...

What're you reading?

I just finished Game of Thrones, which may be my favorite series ever! I read the Hunger Games after, and now I'm taking a little hiatus from novels and reading a manga called Kuragehime :)

No Angel: My Harrowing Undercover Journey to the inner Circle of the Hells Angels by Jay Dobyns with Nils Johnson-Shelton

A biography. It's about Jay Dobyn who was an ATF agent who infiltrated Hells Angels. He was so in to it that he "became" his alias. It's a horrofying read but fascinating.

Ray Bradbury- Something Wicked this way comes.

I recommend him! I have read a couple books of his and he is really good at descriptions and making things interesting!

I'm mostly reading for school at the moment, but I'm taking a cource in children and young adult literature, so it's been a lot of good reading. Currently I'm working on Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce. I can't tell you how exciting it is to get to read a book by one of my favorite authors for school! :D

The stuff I'm reading now isn't something that would be good to read after reading The Hunger Games trilogy, but I'll tell you anyways. ;)  It's Always Something by Gilda Radner (her autobiography/memoir written during her battle with cancer before she died), PineLight by Jillian Peery, and Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier (the book behind the Hitchcock movie). I'll probably have my reviews up in a month or so on my blog once I finish them.

I've only read the first book of The Hunger Games trilogy (got the whole trilogy coming in the mail right now). A couple books I'd recommend for post-Hunger Games would be Divergent by Veronica Roth and The Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkins. Divergent is one of those strong female lead character books and dystopian (the second book is coming out in May), The Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer is psychological but very intriguing (the second book in that series won't be out until later this year). They're both really good. :)

The third book in A Song of Ice and Fire and World War Z :þ

Also got the first two books in Wheel of Time (and a ton of other books) but I wanna try to finish the others first because everyone I've asked says that they're so good everything else seems crappy compared to them. No idea how true that is but it kinda scares me a bit.

I've found the WOT better than Song of Ice and Fire. But they are *long* and the series has 1 book left still that's not going to be out until next year. I was lucky enough to meet Robert Jordan before he passed away. Some of the middle books can get long and drawn out but I found myself greatly rewarded after I got through them.
