Customs / A couple of sculpted customs - G1 and G4 Berry Blossom and Rosebud« on: December 18, 2023, 09:33:47 AM »
Hey all.
Been a while! Just sharing a couple of customs. G1 Berry Blossom, sculpted saddle blanket from fimo, rehaired with Dollyhair. She's sat around for years but I finished her off recently. She's currently on ebay but I'm open to offers on her and would be much happier to sell her through the Arena instead if anyone is interested. Photo's are pretty terrible as the weather has been so bad I've had to use indoor lighting! May try to retake them if the sun ever comes out. visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login Ebay link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204576349108 G4 pony Rosebud I made this week from another pony that had sat around and needed to be redone. She is my first attempt at doing sculpted hair (I haven't sculpted in years either). I'm not sure I'm happy with her but it was a fun attempt. I had to play around with lighting to get her hair to show up so again not great photos. She is also on ebay but again I'm open to offers on her and would be glad to sell her through the Arena instead. visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login Her ebay link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204585025915 3
Customs / Re: Does anyone own these customs? Collectors pose sea theme and a baby pegasus G1« on: December 03, 2023, 02:37:44 PM »Ah, so sorry to hear they got lost I think I remember the sea themed one. She's gorgeous, it makes me sad to think she might've been destroyed. I hope they will turn up some day, somewhere! Thanks, it's kinda silly how often I think about them after all this time lol. I'd just love to think they survived and are out there somewhere! Silly I guess but when you put a lot into something it's kinda heart breaking to think it might have just been destroyed 4

Hi all.
Just a weird question, I wonder if anyone by any tiny chance has these customs in their collection somehow? Long story short I sold them on ebay many years ago (I believe to someone in France? But I may be remembering wrong) and they ended up lost in transit. I refunded the buyer and got a refund from Royal Mail but I have always wondered if somehow the ponies survived. I know lost/undelivered mail is meant to be incinerated but I often think back with so much sadness and hope that somehow they ended up elsewhere. Maybe delivered somewhere else, maybe stolen and resold.. I just hope they somehow ended up in good hands and not destroyed. I was fond of both of these and the sea themed one took me weeks as she had so much subtle detailing and was not a single blue base but layered in many greens and blues. She was one that I put so many hours into. Would just love to know someone somewhere has them safe. It would honestly make my day xx visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login 5

I'm so glad she arrived safely! *sigh of relief*
I really hope you're pleased with her I felt so awful for the delay so I thought I'd include Astra. Glad you found her, I was worried she might get lost in the packaging Honey (my bunny) is doing really well now - thank you Took a few days, she was quite ill and seemed to be in a lot of pain but suddenly bounced back to herself yesterday and is back to causing trouble Oh wow, I thought it was bad to lose the ponies but to lose your wedding albums..! I'm so glad they turned up in the end!! It doesn't even come close to what went missing for you but I think it did get me in a bit of a state having both ponies go missing. I probably did overreact a bit and knowing Cosmos arrived safely has made me feel a little more positive. I don't really want to give up customizing... To be honest I'm not sure if I can. I've had a few new ideas over the past few days. I'm not sure I can give up on them now.. Not while I've still got ideas Agh, let's see what happens once we've moved house and settled. It's been part of my life for so long I know how to stop completely I really hope you do like Cosmos. Thank you so much for buying her and for being so wonderful about the wait. I am so very sorry but so thankful for your incredible kindness 6

Thank you all
If you give up customizing, can we still ask you for solid advice on the subject? You could be like the little customizing wizard on the mountain who offers sage wisdom! As honoured as I am by the thought there really isn't any advice that I'd be qualified to give! I've been customizing since my early teens and I still haven't got anything on the other customizers on here. I'm no artist - I just enjoy pretending I (selfishly) hope you don't stop but if you're not enjoying it anymore then it makes sense. It's nothing to do with not enjoying it. I actually can't imagine not customizing, it's something I've been doing for so long. It's purely because of a recent experience - For the first time after years of doing this I lost two customs in the post and aside from the obvious sadness of knowing your work has gone missing it's left me over £40 out of pocket at a time that I really can't afford it. Royal Mail still haven't told me whether or not they'll compensate me and I've temporarily had to take the money from my rabbit's veterinary account as it's the only money I have (it was many weeks after the sale before I was contacted to say they hadn't arrived) It's a complicated situation.. I'm just not sure what to do. I've never customized for profit (a lot of the time I've actually lost money by the time I've finished a pony anyway ) but when my hobby starts cutting into money that was meant for vets fees for my rabbits I have to seriously question it as my rabbits will always come first and I don't want to put them in danger just because I enjoy my hobby. I honestly don't know what to do at the moment. I still have a lot of half-finished customs which I want to finish first. I'll see how they go and take it from there. I really don't want to give it up but I'll have to see how things go. We'll be moving in a few weeks, maybe things will feel different then. I don't know. I'm probably overreacting. To be honest I probably haven't done badly by losing only two ponies in all this time. I've been sending ponies all over the world for years, it was bound to happen eventually. 7

Hey everyone,
Just sharing a new-old custom (I finished her sometime last year) who I've just put on ebay. She's my first (and possibly last as I think I'm seriously considering giving up customizing) non-brushable, made from one of the colour-in ponies (Fluttershy) I enjoyed customizing her - it made a nice change from rehairing. She's for sale on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/My-Little-Pony-Custom-Cosmos-G4-FIM-OOAK-Star-Planet-Painted-Pegasus-Starry/202246642637?hash=item2f16d6dbcd:g:SkgAAOSwPyZamZUz visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login 8

My goodness he's amazing! That sculpting!! He's instantly recognizable, something that's not always easy to achieve with a custom of a human character.
Speaking as a massive Batman fan you've done a truly amazing job with him! 10
Customs / Re: Three new G1's :) Marina, Baby Sakura and Rosie the piebald paint horse« on: January 09, 2018, 09:07:22 AM »
Thank you all
I enjoyed making them. Rosie was a lot of fun, though it was more difficult than it looks to get the patches the right sort of shape! I really love how she came out though. I know my customs never have anything on the beautiful work of other customizers on here but by my standard she came out well and I was so pleased with her. She's currently on her way to her new home Sakura wasn't planned out at all. I just found a stunning blue that I didn't know I'd bought (the pictures do not do it justice - it's a deep electric, night sky blue) and kind of made her up as I went along Marina I was working on for ages. She's probably taken me well over a year to finish I can't wait to do more natural coloured ponies now. I'm dying to do a palomino tobiano. Got a couple of other ideas too 11

Finally took pictures of these three
First one is Marina. She's been a long wip that I finally finished last week. She is for sale on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/My-Little-Pony-Marina-OOAK-Vintage-G1-Custom-Sea-Fish-Turtle-Coral-Reef-Blue/202177343510?hash=item2f12b57016:g:bXQAAOSwM~taUbcp visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login Next is Rosie, my first natural coloured pony I'd been wanting to do one for ages but never had the courage to try. She's certainly not going to be the last. I want to do a palomino tobiano next I'm really pleased with how she came out and I'm quite attached to her. If I didn't have so many vets fees to cover for my rabbits I wouldn't be selling her lol. She is now sold. visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login Last is Baby Sakura. She was an already baited Baby Surprise that I'd had hanging around for ages. Not sure it shows too well in the pictures actually but her symbol is a moon with mountains in front and a cherry tree with petals blowing in the wind. She is also on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/My-Little-Pony-Baby-Sakura-OOAK-Vintage-G1-Custom-Cherry-Blossom-Moon-Night/202177609643?hash=item2f12b97fab:g:ByMAAOSwtKVaUe-s visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login 12
Customs / Re: Shadow-Rose« on: December 29, 2017, 03:33:35 AM »Very pretty! Black was a great choice, the yellow saddle and her red and gold hair look beautiful against the black.I'm far too changeable Though it worked out well this time. I just saw the black as standing out more and then thought of the red and gold. Well both red and gold go well with black so that pretty much decided it. She's not got my best sculpting work (as I say it was fairly early) but I'm happy with the result. Even if it took years lol. 13
Customs / Re: Help wanted! My first pony paints« on: December 29, 2017, 03:30:10 AM »
The Glory in the pictures from Strawberrysweets link was my restoration The link to the original thread was here: http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,336079.0.html
The glitter I used was a very fine PTE nail glitter which is pretty easy to come by on ebay. They do two lots of colours which contain several hasbro matches or near matches, as well as two other sets that don't match hasbro ponies but are amazing for customs; iridescent and fluorescent colours. I know there's one in there that matches Firefly as I've done a restoration on a Firefly's symbols I used a matt sealant as a 'glue' and sprinkled the glitter on. If I recal correctly I did two 'layers'. No sealant over the top, it sticks well and I imagine sealant over the top would ruin the effect. Different sellers but I'm pretty sure it's this glitter: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/24-Mix-Colours-Nail-Art-Craft-Acrylic-Fine-Glitter-Powder-Pots-Tips-Decoration/172800613142?epid=2151401778&hash=item283bb81b16:g:IMYAAOSwqYdZfuHo https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-Colours-Glitter-Dust-Powder-Set-for-Nail-Art-Tips-Decoration-Crafts-DIY/152623734441?epid=1040586881&hash=item2389155ea9:g:TAsAAOSwQ59ZaLLv It's very close to hasbro glitter, perhaps ever so slightly less fine but there's not a lot in it. The mid-blue colour should Firefly's colour. You paint the shape of the symbol first with the sealant then sprinkle glitter. Then whilst still wet use a small cocktail stick to 'shape' the symbol as it won't be perfect, scraping away bits that are wrong carefully until you've got a nice defined shape. It's a little tricky/tedious but you'll get used to it 14
Customs / Re: Shadow-Rose« on: December 29, 2017, 03:11:08 AM »Ooh, she's really pretty and lovely. Black was a good choice. =DHaha, I never even thought of SA! Maybe I should have picked another name Truth is I'm not keen on the name but I've used/reserved just about every other 'rose' related name on other customs. Oh now I want to do some Sonic themed customs 15

I've held off on posting this one for a while as I've been waiting to get a few on the same thread but I just haven't been able to get around to taking pictures of the others so I'm just gonna post her
This is Shadow-Rose. She is not a new custom by any means but more of a recently completed custom. I actually sculpted her a couple of years ago (I have completion issues ) a little after I started sculpting for the first time but she remained unpainted until some time earlier this year. She was actually going to be white but for whatever reason I suddenly changed my mind and decided I wanted her to be black. If it wasn't obvious by now I have a bad habit of either not planning my customs or not actually sticking to the plan Anyway.. She was finally finished a couple of months back and she's now up for sale on ebay (taking offers on her) Link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/My-Little-Pony-Custom-Shadow-Rose-Gold-Red-Ribbon-Carousel-MGR-Merry-Go-Round/202153799817?hash=item2f114e3089:g:n4kAAOSwh1haOm4h visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or login |
