If we go by previous episodes it'll be how the brand was established and end it with where it stands today. I can't see them emphasize on each generation equally within 45 minutes, realistically G2 will probably be tied to the decline in the US and G3 as the prequel to G4.

BlushingBlue, it seems likely that we may get the second earth set which included Applejack and Bowtie + Posey, Lickety Split, Cherries Jubilee, and Tootsie.

I also suspect they might be referring only to the first quarter of 2019 and the second U&P might come out later in the year, with the 2nd Rainbow molds available it's hard to see why not. I originally thought they may skip 1985 altogether and jump straight to the So Softs but judging their response to Kiwichi that doesn't seem to be the case.

I just got a notification from Amazon.com (US) that my pre-ordered Pretty Parlors have been SHIPPED.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DNNBS53/

EDIT
Kiwichi, that is great news and thank you so much for sharing!

I was hoping we'd get the 2nd Rainbow set, very happy to hear this.

Now with the "licensor" releasing new licensing art heavily featuring the Twice As Fancy ponies I expect they will likely influence BasicFun to produce them over other sets, it'll be interesting to see what comes up next.

Glitterball,  thanks for the John Lewis tip! Found them today. They had 1 rainbow, Skydancer, and 3 CP - Cotton Candy,  Blossom and Butterscotch.  I wanted a secnd Butterscotch so I got her. At the till the lady had to go look up the code...she commented that she should remember it better because she had sold lots of them!

So they are here and seem to be selling...

Amazing to hear! Congrats Taffeta, I know you've been too patient waiting for them to appear and I have a feeling the third wave will pop up before the year ends *fingers crossed*

Count me in, I'd totally go for that. As for space issues, eh, I'd turf the husband or one of the kids out.
😂 that's the spirit!

I would LOVE that. But not Peachy. We already have My Pretty Pony for that... If it has to be an early pony, why not Sundance (in her own pose, not the collectors pose)? :D
I never really thought of her but Sundance would be amazing, an iconic choice!

Pony Corral / Re: Batch Difference Research - Help Needed!

Thanks everyone! Gizmo, that is really helpful and seems to confirm what I was suspecting? Two completely different batches. I wonder what was up in the Hasbro factory the first time around?

Would I then be correct in assuming: lilac wands (prettier sounding than sticks) are probably safer to purchase and are less likely to develop age spots in the future while blue wands are much less safe to purchase and highly likely to develop age spots if they are not already rampant all over the pony? Unless of course they are on a vividly pink pony, who was then the mail order. Is she prone to age spots? Can anyone confirm?

In 1984 after Hasbro spent 100s of millions purchasing Milton Bradley and with some stock market declines within the toy industry drove production to cut costs, ponies produced the year prior were of much higher quality.

Another example would be Starshine, ones that turn brown are the 1985 version whereas those from 1984 remain fairly white (sometimes even too white, as it's the same plastic used for Megan and Sundance which is somewhat harder and does not yellow easily).

As for Pinwheel, you're right the lilac wands version is definitely the safer choice as most issues tend to be associated with the other version. Mail order is also safer as far as I know as none of my mail order Rainbows show any plastic issues. Mail order Confetti for example, at least all the ones I've owned or seen were never the waxy browning type.

Easily one of my top 5 and have an army thanks to my quest to get the whitest one possible, everything about her and the Dream Castle is brilliant:

Maybe mystery pony from Rescue at Midnight Castle with a giant cat wouldn't be a terrible choice?

Pinwheel 2 is a later release, Pinwheel 1 belongs to the 1985 production which also includes browning Confetti and Trickles (that Pinwheel also has dark blue sticks). I luckily have all versions of her including the mail order both sealed and out of bag.

As for the MOC one Chrissytree posted, those were sold in Australia, South Africa, Germany (German text, HK), and Scandinavia as they were all on the same price list that Hasbro UK was sending out in 1986 (if they didn't show up in Denmark or Netherlands for example it was only because shops there did not order them).

I expect they might skip the 2nd unicorns/pegasus/earth and jump straight to the So Softs as the popular ones from those second sets (Posey, Gusty, Heartthrob, etc..) are included with the So Softs.

Pony Corral / What If: 10" G1 Pony
« on: August 24, 2018, 04:55:07 PM »
With the resurrection of G1s would anyone be interested in a jumbo-sized pony?

I'd like one that matches My Pretty Pony's dimensions but produced in soft plastic without the gimmicks. Possibly a single one-off release of "styling" Peachy as a nod to the recolored version of My Pretty Pony or maybe the first collector set.

Thoughts?

Pony Corral / Re: What do you think of the new anniversary ponies?
« on: August 23, 2018, 05:57:48 PM »
They're a dream come true, I always wished the original G1s would return and they finally did.

The slight differences doesn't bother me as this used to happen back in the 80s too (concave vs flat foot vs mail order is a good example). What matters the most is that they caught the essence of the originals as these look and feel like proper G1s unlike the 25th Anniversary which failed to achieve this  - the 35th Anniversary have excellent hair (better than anything Hasbro produced in the 2000s), their bodies made of good plastic, nice paint jobs, and I love their accessories and the attached ribbons.

I currently have Wave 1 and 2, pre-ordered 3 of the Pretty Parlor from Amazon and can not wait for Wave 3.

EDIT

The 35th Anniversary ponies are so much better than the 25th Anniversary ones that it's hard to criticize them.

Same thoughts...and "Malibu Peachy" is what I call her too lol

Thanks a lot LadyMoondancer! This also confirms that BF/TBD sold out their first production run which is great news.

Can't believe they're already out!

Thank you so much Hefty for the pictures, this is amazing.

Pony Corral / Re: Thoughts on Minimalism
« on: August 05, 2018, 05:12:52 PM »
The way I cope with this dilemma is by allowing certain things as collections, to take up their space, but by keeping the rest of the house as minimalist as possible, if that makes sense? So, my ponies have their room (all neatly in boxes and catalogued, of course!) and my gem collection has its place too, but the other spaces are pretty much clutter-free. I couldn't cope otherwise  :P

That's me as well.

Eight years ago I got rid of an endless amount of nonsense that I hoarded along the years as I was losing track of what I have and it made a massive difference to be able to finally see what I own. Occasionally boxes would start piling up again but thankfully it only takes about an hour nowadays to move things out of the way and everything clears again in an instant.

I must give credit to ValeofSpring though for inspiring me to edit and not worry about letting go.
