Thanks guys! I’ve started the loonngggg process of unpacking my herd. Of course all their hair is flattened from being wrapped up o I’ve got a lot of brushing and styling to do! But I’ll definitely be updating periodically! So excited!!

I’ve been p inactive on here for a hot minute and that’s bc I was moving! Me and fiancé bought our first house and of course I made sure it had what I always dreamed of... a dedicated MLP room! I’m only just beginning to unpack so don’t judge the mess pls  :P and I have a lot of painting and decor I wanna add, but I just wanted to brag
I’m looking forward to dressing it up and displaying my collection the way I’ve always dreamed of!

Pony Corral / Re: Ugly ponies?

First things first! Let's tweak that a bit, ok
Those who have baity ponies on display or MOC ponies intact in yellowed packaging how can that not bother you? The reason I like to collect ponies (or toys in general) is to be able to look at what I would consider pretty things. But if it's in bad condition it's not pretty at all. not my preference

Ok so...Oof

Opinions are not fact.

It's startling to see someone judge people and their collections so harshly based solely on looks along with the assumption that everyone has the exact same taste as you....individuality does exist.

Honestly, and as respectfully as is possible in this situation,  the same could be asked of you... why do you bother collecting if you have no real connection or nostalgia for the items? It's just a bunch of pastel plastic horses on a shelf. You could just as easily look at photographs of them and get the same empty validation since there's no true meaning to your vapid material collection.
See how judge-y and rude that sounded?
So ya, let's try to understand our differences in opinions.

Like, I understand where you're coming from, I really do. Who doesn't love a beautiful minty MLP ? I can empathize with you and your thought process there, and that's because I realize the entire world doesn't revolve around me and my personal ideals alone. You gotta try to put yourself into other folks' shoes. A lot of us grew up with MLP and quite a few of us still have our childhood ponies. In my case alone, those ~nOt PrEtTy ponies have been with me for almost 32 years of my life. I look at them, I remember all the fun I had with them. And when I get a random "baity" pony in a lot on eBay, I again think about what all adventures she may have gone thru. She meant something to some kid out there and I respect that greatly. Also I ~LOVE~ doing restorations so I sometimes purposely get some TLC lots, hehe  :lookround: That's another facet of MY reasons behind collecting. Restoration means I get to actually do something with them other than just look at them and I enjoy it greatly!

Anyways,
Everyone in the world is unique to some degree and you just gotta understand that. That may actually be what you're attempting to do in this thread, but the OP just comes off as very snide. I almost skipped over it bc I've had an exhausting day and just thought I was being overly sensitive and reading too much into it until I saw the other posts that felt the same way.

And that was a massive post

TL;DR is basically everyone's different and that's pretty cool  :P

Flutters are my number one favourite set! They're just so graceful and dainty looking.
They were also the first set I completed and I could've fainted one year when my mom gifted me a Hollywood in absolutely perfect condition.

That's such a neat pic! So many of the lesser-seen ponies all together... I love it!

Bizarre. Definitely see about a replacement. And if the original doesn’t need to be exchanged, be sure to open her up and see what the rest of her feels like bc I’m seriously curious now.

Ya, I’m gonna allow ample room and not squish them so hopefully that’ll prevent any warping. I’m wondering how best to pack away the wingers and SHS with earrings. Maybe just make sure they’re towards the top of bins?

In my job, I’ve seen the horrors of what moving companies do to belongings, so I’m 100% doing the moving myself. It’s not cross country or anything, just about 8-10 hr drive.

I love the silica idea! I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of that, I’ll definitely be using that idea and definitely gonna keep a list of who is in what bin and such.
Thanks for all the input!

It’s gonna mean I’m far older than I would like to admit  :P

I’m honestly not sure how I truly feel about it. It’s certainly a milestone, especially considering they’re still going after all these years, but at the same time it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal. We’ve already had multiple re-releases so I’m not really sure what they could do to make it a real celebration. Personally, I feel 50 should be the big anniversary. They could do a re-release of the My Pretty Pony I suppose. Really get back to it’s original roots.

Only a week to go! Get busy! :art:

Do we know who will be doing the commission prize or what type of gift card? Or are they going to be a surprise?  :P

A couple of our Mods have offered to pitch in to buy an Amazon gift card, and Shaiyeh has kindly donated a commission slot for a digital headshot ^.^

That’s amazingly generous of everyone! Thank you to everyone making this contest possible and I can’t wait to see everyone’s entries~

Pony Corral / Pony Packing Tips

Hello pals, I’m moving to another state soon which means I’m spending a lot of my quarantine time packing. That includes my collection of +/- 300 loose ponies as well as playsets and accessories. I’ve been wrapping them in acid free white tissue and labeling them. I was wondering if anyone here has any pointers for me or cautionary tales.

I’ve been making sure that chartreuse hair isn’t touching their bodies. Are there any other colours that stain bodies that I should be aware of? They’re all going to be packed away into Tupperware rather than boxes. I’m just trying to take as many precautions as possible and would greatly welcome any advice!

I’ve begun mine finally. I’m doing traditional and not digital so hopefully I’ll be able to complete it. Do we know who will be doing the commission prize or what type of gift card? Or are they going to be a surprise?  :P
