SNES game recomendations
« on: May 07, 2012, 12:28:51 PM »
I FINALLY got my paws on a SNES system: Something I've been wanting ever since I was little!  The problem is... I don't know what games I should get for it. D:

I'm a fan of Kirby, Mario, and similar games.  I've also played most of the RPGs SquareEnix released for the SNES that were ported to other systems (Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, etc).  I do enjoy RPGs, though!

What were your favourite games on the SNES?

You must get Super Metroid if you haven't got it! It is a-mazing!

Also Super Mario-Yoshis Island, Donkey Kong Country and Secret  of Mana!

Added: And Zelda of course!

My boyfriend keeps saying that I need to play the Metroid games. x3
And for some reason, I thought Secret of Mana was on the NES. o.o  I'll have to look into it as Legend of Mana was fantastic! <3

Lion King is REAALLY hard, but it is a gorgeous game.

One that I loved was Jurassic Park. It had a whole bunch of gameplay modes mixed into the game. Gave me nightmares too!

I had the Lion King on the Genesis and loved it.  I may have to pick it up again.

if you like Jump n Runs AND RPGs, you should try EVO Search for Eden.

I have Tales of Phantasia for the Game Boy Advance. :D I need to get it for the SNES, though.

I've never head of Lufia.  What's it about?

Lufia 2 is just a normal japanese rpg from the snes era... it's got the same fighting styles as the final fantasy games and stuff like that. The first lufia was terrible, the second one was a sleeper hit as far as I'm concerned.

I liked Tales of Phantasia for SNES better than the gameboy one simply because you could name your characters. That  is my favorite feature in video games. :)

I'll have to look into that. :D

I never finished it on the Game Boy.  I got stuck because I didn't gear my characters up properly and couldn't get past a boss. x.x

Seconding (thirding?) Zelda and Secret of Mana! And Star Fox.

Also Illusion of Gaia (Illusion of Time in Europe). It's disappointing how little attention that game gets. The US translation was a bit screwed up (mostly to take out religious references), but still so fun. It's part of a sort-of-but-not-quite series: Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, and Terranigma, but I've only played Gaia. They're all SNES games if you're looking for action-RPG titles. :3
Don't look for me!
