It's literally been like 6 years since I last bought any hair for re-rooting, and back then the only choices were Dolly Hair and Retro Dolls US. I've ordered from both, like both, but are they still the "go to" source? I remember Dolly Hair being great for nylon and Retro offering a lot of other options.
Have other online sellers popped up with QUALITY hair in the recent years? Where do you purchase your pony hair?
-
I purchase my hair from My Little Customs. They're based in the U.K but ship worldwide
-
Still Dollyhair for me. RetroDolls is great but I want exact G1 matches and I don't think RDUS has quite all of them yet. But their polypropylene stock is drool-worthy!
-
be careful, Dollyhair has in recent years been the subject of some scrutiny...not everyone has issues but sometimes they can be incommunicative. I personally had to file a paypal claim with them for "incorrect advertising" when shorted on a hank or two, and even that took forever to process because the owner of dollyhair simply ignores or does not respond to emails anymore in my experience...

Just do a search in the trader classifieds too for "dollyhair" if you want more examples...:D

I think RetroDolls and Dollyhair still have the most selection for very similar prices.
Dollyhair has had issues in the past with customer service... but I ordered some doll hair recently (they had the exact match I needed) and although I never got an email confirmation or tracking number- my package did arrive just fine after a while.

Either DollyHair or My Little Customs :)
It depends on what colours I need and who has it in stock ;)
Love pkw xxx

I only have experience with MyLittleCustoms, but it was a good one. =) She replies to you quickly and carefully manages your order.
-
RetroDolls or Dollplanet (I buy from their eBay store). I stay as far away from DollyHair as possible.
-
dollyhair for nylon and restoredoll for saran

Hi there! I'm the owner of RetroDollsUS, I have about 780 colors to choose from on etsy and am always happy to answer any questions or help you hair match for your projects (best way to contact me is through my etsy) http://www.etsy.com/shop/retrodollsus
I carry nylon, saran, polypropylene, monofiber, kiwi, kanekalon, natural fibers (fleece/mohair/mulberry silk, etc), chunky yarn, PE hair, tinsel, thermal (heat color change), UV (changes in sunlight), glow in the dark (white, pink and blue!) and more :)
there is also a site in the UK- www.retrodolls.uk
and one in the EU- www.retrodollseurope.com
-
My favourite ones are retrodolls.uk (in case they have a matching hair color for the DH ones), Thefloatingsle (German Page for DH) and then DH itself.
-
What about tinsel? I don't normally work with tinsel, but need it for an upcoming project. Where do you find that?

https://www.mylittlecustoms.co.uk/Tinsel/cat635041_1144001.aspx MylittleCustoms has an assortment of tinsel. =)

Also, Sulky metallic embroidery thread works great!

Aha, I've had to order some from some stores and some from others! I had to get that white to purple hair from MyLittleCustoms, but I've also gotten some hair from RestoreDoll. I've deliberately avoided Dollyhair due to the poor service testimonials.
-
I get all my hair and flock from retrodolls.uk now because My Little customs haven't got the hair I need.
I've got to order some more Midnight Black Saran hair.
-
I just ordered some hair from Dollyhair for the first time. I'm waiting for it to arrive, I hope everything goes well...
-
Dollyhair. I've been using her for more than a decade and have never had any issues.
-
I have only used Dollyhair personally
-
Thanks for this topic! I have some bait ponies that I've been meaning to re-hair. The only place I knew about that had nylon hair is DollyHair. Although now that I've seen that people have issues with her...I'm nervous about ordering from her.
-
The only UK one I know about is My Little Customs but they always seem to be sold out of the hair I need
-
I've used Dollyhair and My Little Customs. My Little Customs is often sold out of the hair I want, but it's a good service otherwise. I've never had any trouble with Dollyhair (I know some other people have); the hair usually arrives quite quickly considering it has to come from the US to the UK.
There's sometimes random bundles of Dollyhair hair on eBay, just customisers selling leftovers.
-
I also order from Dollyhair and am in fact waiting for customs to take their claws out of my latest order. Which they have sat on for over a month now.
My only problem with them is the entire lack of communication when you do have a query. Which I did have with this order. I sent several e-mails, all of which remained unanswered to this day. I am still unsure as to what was sent in the order. How I will sort it out if once I receive the package I find that there is a problem is a concern.
-
I usually use Dollyhair and have never had a service issue that she has not promptly corrected. I know others have not had the same experience, though. I have also ordered from RetroDolls US in the past, but I find the Etsy shop difficult to navigate between what's in stock vs. available for pre-order when I search for "nylon." That's just me being picky, though. Shannon is a wonderful person to deal with.
-
Well I must follow up and say that I received my order from Dollyhair yesterday. Finally. Thank you customs for hanging on to it for the past 3 months - what the heck do they DO with it?! And absolutely everything was in the package no problems at all.
-
I started with CustomPony.com, then when they disappeared went to Dollyhair. DH hair isn't as stiff as CP was so it's easier to style.
