Title: PC request on variant princesses and Piggy Minty
Post by: WinterBlossom on October 15, 2017, 07:03:07 PM
Hi,

Please help!

I'm afraid my camera is no longer talking to my computer, but I have 3 ponies I need ballpark PCs on for Ponycon!
(Yes, I do hope to have enough money from sales after Ponycon to get a new camera)

I have:

Variant Princess Aquamarine/Serena (no tinsel in tail):

She is overall very good condition, her hair is still decently pink, and she has her non-glittery hat with non-glittery ribbons in, but no elastic in the hat.

Variant Princess Sundance (Princess Pearl's head, Sundance's body, full length forelock and Taffeta style thin tail):

Quite a few people have seen her at Ponycon, and both PKW and Taffeta have verified her as fitting all the signs of being a legit variant.  I believe there may have been one going round a few years ago, this is the one I got in 2013 (I think) in a toy box lot and posted about at the time.

I think she is the only one currently known in the community.

I have my own price in mind, but would appreciate what people think value wise as I have an interested potential buyer already. Also, if anyone else is interested in her, let me know and I will try to borrow a camera for pics.

Piggy Minty (golden hair):

Nice body and paints,  mohawk and tail cut to floor length.

Thanks for any help you can give :)

Ali.

Princess Aquamarine £35ish with her hat, she doesn't sell for so much as she doesn't look that different :(

Princess Sundance (I remember seeing her last year) I have NO idea on a price I'm afraid :( OOAK ponies are difficult.

Piggy Minty with gold hair £200 or so  hard to tell if the hair cut will hold her back, without the hair cut I would have been confident to say £250 plus.

Is there a pic of Princess Sundance?

I thought I had one, but I don't :(

here is the thread winterblossom made on her when she got her.

http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,310080.0.html

I do believe there is another, I *think* she was owned at some point by ginaiam and/or Ember1. I can't find anything here, so it must be in the archived arena.

ETA found one thread on the subject, so there are indeed two.

Thanks! But, hmm, still still can't see a pic. What does her forelock look like?

Just spent way too long in the Nirvana gallery looking at princess variants. So interesting! I'm no help, but good luck with your sales.

oh cool combo - is her mane and tail the sundance pink than?  So she's got sundance symbols?  Yeah the pics don't seem to be working atm, I would think she's at least in the $300-$600ish range if there's only a handful

I agree, oddballs are hard to price and I have to admit I prefer my princess herd to have gems ... maybe that's just me, though

I did pay over $1000 for a MIB oddball though so if you are planning on selling her at the con, that seems to me to be your best bet to find a willing buyer

I'd love to at least see pictures :-)

I took some pictures of her at PonyCon this weekend and I'll share them with you all once I've settled back home.

Wow, having seen that old thread I now understand why people have been so sceptical about my Princess in the past.

Pkw took some photos at Ponycon, I am going to try to get some decent photos of her, but I am a technical idiot when it comes to putting pics up here, so I might have to send them to someone else to put up once I have them.

Sorry it's taken so long to respond, Ponycon really wiped me out - I've been sleeping 18-20 hours a day ever since it.

I have decided to keep Princess Sundance, and since she looks so shocked (that pony has seen *things*)  I have renamed her in my mind as Princess Brando/Princess Kurtz after The Col. in Apocalypse Now.

A quick question...how does one verify a legit "oddball"? Are the tails anchored the same way as normal pony, or are they more cheaply put together? Not to imply that they are cheap looking or anything, I simply understand that they were kind of made with leftover parts, so I wasn't sure if they have a standard washer. I'm also wondering how you recognise Sundance's body and distinguish it from other bodies?

I still need to sort out the pictures I took of her, life has been very difficult lately -_-

Good question.

A lot goes into verification, province, features, the "feel" and so on.

They are roughly put together and have slipped neck glue, tail hole nubs, bad eye paint and other such strange bits. I think to call them cheap looking is fair, since they were sold in cheap shops!

The odd balls do have regular tail washers, the kind that princesses have, so they have an oil slick finish and two prongs. Also she lacks a forelock, which is a common trait of the princesses.

The Sundance body has No Country Spain hooves.

She really is an oddball for sure!!!
