Anyone collect Folkmanis puppets?
« on: February 01, 2015, 12:03:11 AM »
I got a chameleon puppet back in 1997 and now that I'm a qualified early childhood teacher I've gotten into using puppets again.  I'll be getting a retired woolly mammoth puppet in the post soon but other than that I have no others. Very keen on some of the owls they have released.  Does anyone here have Folkmanis puppets, pics etc?  Would love to see :)

They are available in the US too.. probably worldwide.
They're really nice puppets. Most of them look like good quality regular stuffed animals.
I was into them a while back. I had the yellow lab and a really awesome spider that you worked the legs with your fingers. Not sure what happened to him..  :(

I don't have any but I was curious and looked up some pictures and I totally remember having these in my preschool and elementary school classes when I was little!  That was such a blast from the past to look them up.  I have such nostalgia from looking at the pictures of them.  I remember being so excited when the teachers would bring them out when I was little.  In elementary school, we had health class only once a month or so, but I always looked forward to them because the lady who would come and do the class had a bunch of puppets like these.   ^.^

I found one of the older big tiger ones a while back at TJmaxx I snuggle with it, but she needs new stuffing in the legs.

I actually do.  Not them specifically and not in the 'gotta catch them all' way I collect ponies, but I do have a few. I have a butterfly finger puppet, one of the owls, the red Chinese dragon, a griffin and a husky I think is one but I'm not 100% on.  I'll probably buy more in the future too, bit hey are kind of expensive. They are super amazing though.

Can't really share pics of the dragon or griffin (they're in Australia and I'm in Anerica) but I can take pics of the others tomorrow.

These are wonderful puppets! I've used the large hummingbirds, and have a small handful of the finger puppet. I used them as a nature educator when I would encounter children, but mostly I teach adults now. I think I have the small fox, skunk, and raccoon.

Pretty sure that wolf, isn't one now.  He's similar to ones they have made and quite good quality, but not AS good.

And for good measure, here is a video of my owl in use
http://youtu.be/8Sz0D_bk82s

He's a gem.

The others I have are the big version of this guy:  http://www.folkmanis.com/Prod-67-1-58-1/dragon-red-small.htm

And this one: http://www.amazon.ca/Folkmanis-2359-Griffin-Puppet/dp/B0007QO468

The griffin is my favourite of all.  He's just so nice.  I think I'd also like to get the hermit crab, a western style dragon, the peacock and a red panda.  But they are all so nice.

Like I said before, I don't collect Folkmanis particularly, I just sort of buy puppets when I have the money and I'm out and I see one I like.  But usually when those things happen, its a folkmanis one.
