Title: I need some inspiration!
Post by: MiniBaah on February 17, 2012, 09:41:37 AM
Hey pony people :)

I've been working on this unicorn model and soon i'll be ready to texture/colour it. However i have no ideas so i was hoping for some suggestions from you guys :) Feel free to post reference images.

I'm considering making the mane and tail with fire or smoke simulation..

It's for my showreel that has to be finnished in end of march so i only have a limited amount of time. (i'm studying computer graphic art at The Animation Workshop and we need to apply for interships in the beginning of april)

---- UPDATE ----

So i went for the appaloosa style and this is what i have so far.. though i'm not sure if it's too messy/confusing?

Thank you and sounds great with zbrush. I had a biginners course in january so i know the basics. I'm just struggeling with the navigation since i'm so used to Maya's way of navigating. I started my unicorn in mudbox and thought i would finnish it in mudbox aswell.. but in the future i'll use zbrush since that's so much better for sculpting..

Thank you :) I could also colourgrade the fire so it wouldn't be normal but maybe blue.. or white..

That looks incredible!  I have no idea how you're doing it, so I'm afraid I have no constructive crit for you.  I like the idea of a pale flame or even a mane that looks like mist?

I know! I've been away for such a long time but then i realized that i missed looking at pony related things. I've been swamped work school work since i started my education. When did they change the site? It was so odd coming back to but i think i like it better than the old :) How are you and what have you been up to?

I think i might try to make my unicorn spottet.. something like this maybe:
