Title: The Festive Decor Thread
Post by: Ponybookworm on December 06, 2022, 04:04:57 AM
Let's see some trees, festive arrangements, garlands, whatever else here.
I'll start with my tree

I love the blue and green! That seem like a perfect sized tree, not too small but not massive. I like it :)

I don't have any decorations up. I usually put my snowflake lights in the front window but I haven't done that yet.

That's so cute, PBW!

We haven't put up many decorations yet either, only a small door wreath and our traditional hanging calendar made with a set of numbered, decorative clothespins and a bunch of paperbags that I've decorated with stickers and reuse every year. I fill them with wrapped sweets. :) It takes up a lot of space but serves as a cute piece of decor, and once Christmas cards start arriving I hang them on the line instead.

Let's see when I have the energy to put the tree up. :D

This is a really lovely and fun thread!  It's nice to see other people's Christmas decorations!

Ponybookworm, your christmas tree is so cute! It reminds me of my little Christmas tree from my childhood that I had in my own room!
Harmonie's unicorn is also really cute!  :lovey: What is it made of?

Thanks, all! It is VERY cute and quite a find! There was only one left at Walmart when I found it. I'm so glad I did!!

Harmonie's unicorn is also really cute!  :lovey: What is it made of?

I'm not sure, but it's one of those blow up decorations.

I also have a few pictures, but I'm not going to post them right now. Maybe tomorrow.  :)

Aflame, you have a lovely Christmas tree.

Next, a bunch of pictures from me!
Right to the beginning, sorry for the poor quality of my pictures! I have a new phone and I don't have full control of its camera yet.

A bunch of elves tiptoe around my kitchen, here are some of them.

This elf patrol observes whether there are nice or naughty people in the house. :) In the kitchen, they are high up on the cabinet so the cats can't reach them. These wooden gnomes were made by my grandfather sometime in the 80s. He was a carpenter.

There are several paper stars…Here are a couple of them.

Every Christmas I make something like this between the living room window that includes a string of lights, something glittery and elves. Every year they have been different. Because of the cats, they are between the windows.

Outside, just before Christmas, I put a new long chain of lights like this with my mother. The small tree in front also has its own chain of lights. Sorry, the picture is blurry.

The spouse's apartment has a white Christmas tree. Sorry, the apartment shown in the pictures is a mess!

I have a small green Christmas tree with lights in my bedroom. The veranda has a white small Christmas tree with lights and small blue balls. I haven't taken photos of them yet.

Aflame, your tree looks awesome! I love your handmade snowflakes, they are so pretty.

HoM your house is so cozy! I adore the elf theme you have going. The handmade ones by your grandfather are precious!

Thank you for the kind words on my decorations everyone! It’s about time for the decorations to come down now which always makes me a little sad, everything just feels cozier with the extra lights! To answer your question BC, the orange lamps do stay out year round, so I will still have those at least! :) And HoM you have a good eye! There is a little mouse above the fireplace. Here is a better pic of him, I actually made him in a ceramics class a few years back.

I'm late to the party, but here we are. I didn't do as much this year since my basement is still disorganized from moving last year. I don't publicly post pics of my full house exterior, but I just had colored lights on the porches and fence.

This is Horace the Tortoise.

:grouphug: Thanks for you all!

Minty_Magic, Oh, that mouse is so cute!  :inlove: You have done it well!  :iconclap:
Lovely light chains!
The pony decorations outside are great! :wow: Have you made them yourself or have they been bought from somewhere?

starbritesprinkles, at first I looked that the turtle was real and wanted to ask if it is allowed to keep the horns on its head so kindly?  It's a decorative item, isn't it?
Lovely Bubo II!
Did you make that ball wreath yourself? It is very beautiful! :wow:  I have one too, but it's hidden in the closet because it's maybe a little unfinished and there's no place for it.

shabbychicdee, i want that pony tree! So beautiful!  :lovey: Your bigger Christmas tree is also very beautiful. Beautifully decorated.
 The Pohutukawa tree! New to me! It's beautiful! Are the petals of its flowers soft or hard/sharp? How long does flowering last?

Just a few more pictures..

The large wooden gnome is still with the lantern in our yard. My mother got it as a gift from her friend. Local handicraft.

On the veranda is my mother's really old elf from the 60s. Below it hangs the old wooden Christmas bells made by my grandfather.

Here is another of my mother's elves from the 60s. I think it's a bit odd looking, but still cool.  Both of these elves came with chocolate candies, that's why those legs look funny.

The white small Christmas tree on the veranda that my mother has decorated.

That glittery unicorn is fabulous!

He's so fun. Except that he tried to bite my face last week. I think he's mad that I've been slipping him blueberries with the tongs instead of his preferred crickets or roaches. LOL. And yet he still eats them up if I put them in his bowl.

LOL. Yes, Horace is a garden decoration who lives on the porch year-round and enjoys being festive.

The wreath was a Big Lots find this year. I have made one in the past, though. Excuse the poor photo. My phone back then had been dropped too many times. I finally gave up on it this year after eight years of faithful service on my front door since someone kept smashing the bulbs between the doors at the old house, and some of them were falling off.

LOL. I would tell you that he's thrilled by this news, but that pic's pretty much his face 24/7. Here's his tank.

thank you so much ;) with the Pohutukawa they are soft, a little similar to a bottle brush tree but these trees grow massively in size and the red just last over summer November to January, best early to late December
