A few pics of this summer.

This is about 10 km outside of my city, and yes, we could bike here. The temperature and humidity was crazy high this evening, the meteorologists said it was tropical. The humidity made the fire alarm go off twice at the cinema and two other locations.

This river is right beside the above picture. It is before it comes to my city.

Blueberries! I'm lucky to live in a country with the Right to Roam (Allemansrätten in Swedish) where I can just go out in the forest, any forest, and pick fresh berries.

This is from when we were kayaking down a river. It was so beautiful

This is the river that goes through my city, dividing it in half. We have a walkway right next to it and I live close enough to be able to walk by it whenever I feel, it's also the prefered route to the city center. I always felt it was healing walking by it and I'm not alone. The other day, our local news wrote about a woman who travels six hours by train from Stockholm (that is surrounded by water might I add) just to spend a couple of hours by the river before going back home again and she thinks the river helps her better than her therapist. Pretty neat :).

Beautiful pictures! You're lucky to have so many nature areas that are easy to get to :)

About the river, I grew up in Wisconsin right beside Lake Michigan. I always felt the same way about the lake. It had a personality, sometimes it was happy, sometimes it was angry, sometimes sad. I hung out there as a teenager and a lot of times I would break off from the group and go sit on the beach and just watch and listen to the water. Now those beaches don't exist anymore, the lake has risen and taken a lot of the land back. There used to be a big park with a soccer field and that's gone now too.

Thank you. I live in a very green city with lots of recreation sites with easy access (and all free because of the Right to Roam) and lots of beautiful places surrounding it. It's also very bike friendly where it's sometimes faster to bike than take a car or bus :).

Oh, wow. That lake is rather huge right? More like a tiny ocean? I'm trying to remember the school maps and not google, lol. It's something with the moving water and the waves I think that captures us. We have small lakes here but they don't breath like the river and no waves unless it's very windy. Sad to hear it has swallowed some of the land though.

Yes, the great lakes are like little oceans :) Lake Michigan is the second largest. It gets icebergs in the winter

:bumping: Let's not forget this thread!

I have heard the hooting song of the tawny owl (Strix aluco) at night right near my house! I've been able to hear it several nights. 🦉

Yesterday there was a bird fight outside my window. Two mockingbirds crash landed and they were kicking and pecking each other, wings open, and making terrible screechy sounds. I read that males defend territory by dancing, so I think these two were females. Maybe fighting over a nesting spot? Or who knows. Mockingbirds are very smart, maybe they just didn't like each other.

Oh my!  That sounds like a sight to see.

I see humming birds and cardinals pretty often.  But yesterday there was a bluejay!

Me and hubby went to an arboretum today. It is a beautiful wild garden with plants and trees from allover the world. It is run by volunteers and free to visit. I've been there spring and summer but has to say Autumn has to be my favorite with the explosion of all the colours.

This picture is overlooking the japaneese garden. It is my favorite part of the arboreum.

Beldarna, Great photos.  :lovey: In Sweden, autumn seems to be as beautiful as in Finland. :leaves:
I've also been meaning to go and take photos, but I haven't been able to because of this flu.

I would go if I could. :( I've been trying to be outside for a while and walk around, but I get terrible coughing fits after coming back inside my house. :scared: So I'm not completely healthy yet.
I wouldn't get as good photos as you, there are no such beautiful sights near me.

The weekend had the first frosty nights!  :frolic: Now the outdoor thermometer shows -4 °C! And more fall storms are coming! :joy:
