Yes LadyG, I'm very lucky the seller is so nice. She said she'd send a new one just like the one I bought with a batch of other ponies that I just bought from her!

What the....?? That is awful!  I also understand the need for checking for drugs, but quite honestly there are BETTER ways to do that than destroying the item like this! This is not OK. By a long shot. I would have been so sad too, and then I would have been truly really mad. Please send in a complaint to the customs, hon. This is not the way to go about checking for drugs - it is just taking to much liberty in their line of work and no respect for what is actually others property.

Yeah, I have to stop myself now I think because I'm just so mad and sad on your behalf.... :argh:

I am happy that the seller will send you a replacement though, that was very kind of her!

and what's with the leg cut off?

maybe they wanted to look into the leg if there are drugs?

@maddie - thank you, but i never was lucky enaugh to own a vennie :D

Hmm well lemme think. They feel softer to me than a regular pony but not all squishy like a Brazilian pony.

I'd be tempted to get the seller to put a note *around* the ponies saying "collector's item, please x-ray me, do not cut me to ribbons!" I would be so upset and mad, especially if it was irreplaceable

Looking for contraband. That's exactly what they were doing. In the model horse hobby, we have had resins with heads cut off. Whole molded hard resins with missing heads. We have also had holes drilled into the stomachs...

What's worse is that they just toss it into the box like it's good as new. I would say if it was worth a pretty penny to file a claim but since you are getting a replacement, I see no point. Notes won't help either.

Most of the times you get lucky, other times you get screwed.

What i DO suggest is that inside the box, you place a sheet of paper with the address of where it's supposed to be going.

Ugh...nightmare - I agree that I understand the need to check but come on there isnt a nicer way to do this.

If I am ever lucky enough to win a Vennie auction, I think I ll be asking the seller to ship the pony with the head removed. That way customs dont need to create an access, they have one ready made.

And I agree that you should make some kind of complain - its all good to check something but to t destroy it seems a bit radical. :(

Man so so glad you have a seller who can send you a replacement pony!!  yah I would totally write back to put the word out about shipping with heads already removed and notes to customs - geesh, gotta love the stereotypes behind why we are buying these toys

glad you are gonna try to fix up your other venne - poor dear!

I can't believe what I'm seeing here!   I would have been furious to find that.   Sure, they have to do their job but there is a difference between checking things and destroying them completely.

100% agree you should put a claim in hunny and glad to hear you are dealing with such a nice seller.  :)
