Do you want all of the ponies or just the ones you like?

I was looking at my collection tonight and realized that I have way too many. ( I know, I know. you can never have too many ponies!) 90% of my collection is G1. At one point in my life, about 15 years ago, I wanted to have every G1 pony ever made. Now that I look at them I think I may only keep the ones I really really like. I had a pony room when I lived with my parents over 10 years ago so it was nice to have them all displayed. I don't think at any point in my life now that I will ever have another extra room to display all of them. If I only keep the ones I like I can just have them all in a curio cabinet to display them.

So how are your collections? do you want them all or are you just going after the ones you like?

In G4, I have them all, but I see no need for variants of the same character.

I only get the G4 ones that I want, but since the majority of my collection is blind bag ponies, that's an easy matter (yay codes). I go for the Mane 6, unique molds, and any relevant names (such as Lyra Heartstrings or Trixie Lullamoon and Sunset Shimmer... IF THEY'D RELEASE ONE). The one exception was Barber Groomsby because the mustache and bow-tie just looked awesome. (Also I have no shame when it comes to Pinkie Pie, I've gotten numerous duplicates of her just because I can.)

I have started with the Funko full-size vinyls, but I've a bit pickier with what I want there. So far it's just been the 3 of the Mane 6 plus Muffin and Dr. Whooves. With the next dozen I'll probably get the remaining 3 of the Mane 6 and no one else unless they have a really compelling character that doesn't come to mind right now.

Finally, I went ahead and bought a complete case of the Funko Mystery Minis just because I wanted 9 of the 12 and since there were no ID codes of any kind, it was easier to buy a case than to either take my chances buying singles or to buy the ones I want individually.

I only keep the ones I like. I'm more of a picker and chooser than a completionist.

I try to only pick ones I want. I have enough clutter in my life making more for ponies I don't like doesn't seem worth it.

I used to want ALL the ponies. 

But with more than 600 in my collection and both display and storage space running out, I only want the ones I like now.  But I do like complete sets, so I try to complete my favourite sets.

I like complete sets too. I too have over 600 ponies. I just do not have the space at my house to have them all out of the plastic tubs they are all living in. I am thinking about selling the ones I don't really care for that much. It will be really hard to watch them go though lol

Only the ones I like. The downside is that I like pretty much every pony!

Basically just the ones I like the looks of. Starbeam Twinkle, for example, doesn't do much for me.

I only want the ones I like. I too used to want all the ponies, but then I would purchase ponies for the sake of having them and have absolutely no attachment to them whatsoever. My collection is tiny (about 20 ponies) but several of those are Italians, UK exclusives etc and they're all ponies I've actively wanted either since childhood or since discovering pony collecting a few years ago. The only reason I now might pick up an unwanted pony is if it's a bargain that I can sell on later for a potential profit.

In G2 im trying to collect'em all.

Only the ones i like. I don't see the point of buying something if it is only for the sake of completion.

I pretty much want 1 of every standard release of us and uk g1 ponies, i tried to stick with just a few of my fave sets but I love them all and am a bit of a completionist. I have excluded Nirvanas in my collection as I have no personal attachment to them but I do also try to collect the variants on the standard releases ie, kisscurl with standard and reverse symbol etc. This is my second time round collecting ponies in 15 years i sold my first collection just over 5 years ago, and kept 2 sets, and last year decided wth I want them all, from peachy to punzie each pony gives me the same amount of enjoyment and happiness when i get a momwnt away from everything and get to sit and admire them all on display
