Off Topic / Re: Big people and massages
« on: June 03, 2017, 05:23:29 PM »
Massage therapists are generally licensed and trained, I thought.  I've had a few friends who are trained as therapists.

I would go to somewhere reputable, look for one who has stellar reviews and maybe a recommendation or two from friends or family, if possible.  Chiropractors is another route, though.

Off Topic / Re: Do you have a summer reading list?
« on: May 29, 2017, 03:47:52 PM »
Hi,

I'm hoping to find time this summer to read a few books. Here are a few I want to read

The Siren by Kiera Cass
The Crown by Kiera Cass
The Heir by Kiera Cass
The Maddie Diaries by Maddie Ziegler from Dance Moms

Ponyfan

I read the first three of those just this year.  Think my BFF still has my copies of The Crown series.  :)  Anyhow, I would recommend the Siren.  :)

I always have a lot of reading to do.  Usually something I have to read and something I *want* to read.

On my list of have to read:

World History Book for my CSET (I have a test in early June.)

Want to read list is too long, but:

Thirteen Reasons Why
The Outsiders (re-read)
Princess Diarist

are all recent purchases that I should really work on.  :)

Pony Corral / Re: When is a pony accessory not a pony accessory?
« on: May 23, 2017, 04:22:24 PM »
l always think these sort of things are so cool.  :)

Though, it does make me wonder when I find random accessories that belong to more than one toy - who they belong to?

I think these kind of pseudo-accessories should be catalogued in one place :)

Cabbage Patch Magic Meadow Glitz'n Glamour ponies had tiaras in various colors that match the eyelash princess tiaras. There's at least a pink, purple and gold one....and I think maybe blue?

I knew it!!! I had that box as a child growing up and recognized the tiara.

That would be great if all these and other instances were in one place.

I know that the Show Stable was re purposed for the Littlest Pet Shop! :D And one littlest petshop item was repurposed for g2 ponies.

Pretty Parlor, repurposed for Littlest Pet Shop ;)

I actually think the scale works better here than it does for MLP, even though it was made for those originally.

The Dollhouse / Best site to sell American girl accessories?
« on: May 21, 2017, 03:26:29 PM »
Hi.

I've had some minor luck finding random American girl accessories lately while thrifting.  Things like:

Kit's treat basket
Josephina's bread oven
some of the hats that go with outfits (I now have an extra of Rebecca's)

And, like random shoes...  I have a lot of single AG shoes right now.  :)

Is there a good place to sell this stuff?  Is eBay the best bet?

Thanks for any help.  :)

The Dollhouse / Re: Are any of these Disney dolls anything special?
« on: May 21, 2017, 03:23:20 PM »
The two Ariels are Tyco dolls and are from 1989-early 90's. The Aurora is from 1990 or 1991.

Ponyfan

Hmm.  They do look like that.  If the Ariel dolls are from Tyco, they should be marked on the back of the neck or on the back?  I'd have to dig mine out to double check that.  Again, that would make her vintage and might have her fetch a few more dollars if complete/dressed.  :)

I can't speak for many of these, but...

Merida's mom was a relatively limited release.  She was around for about a year after Brave's release, and thus a little harder to find (I'm guess maybe $5-$8 if you have her outfit.)

Jasmine is vintage Mattel and, again, probably worth about $5 if you have her clothes.  Up to $7, complete.

The Frozen dolls are Mattel releases (the ones you'd find at Target/Walmart/etc) and aren't worth very much.

BTW, do you have their clothes/costumes?  That will bring up the values, if only by a couple of dollars.

Good luck selling.  :)

Fun!  :)

1. How long have you been collecting ponies?

Eleven years?  Wow, I didn't realize it had been that long.  Yup, 11 years.  :)

2. How did you start collecting ponies?

I had a few G1s as a kid, but they weren't really my thing.  I got really into ponies after my best friend gave me some g3 stuff as a birthday gift.

3. How long have you been part of the MLP Internet community (not necessarily just the Arena)?

11 years.

4. Who was your first pony?

As a kid, my absolute first pony was Wind Whistler.  As a collector, it was G3 Merriweather.

5. Who was your last pony (i.e., most recently purchased/acquired)?

G1 white baby Valentine's pony, found at thrift store.

6. What is your favorite generation?

G1s all the way.  :)

7. About how many ponies do you have in your collection?

100?  Maybe?  I'd have to count them again.

8. Who's your grail pony, or alternatively, the pony you want most at the moment?

Ice Crystal.

9. Who's your favorite pony and why? (choose only one! hard, I know)

SS Windwhistler.  She's always been my favorite.  :lovey:

I voted for g1s but I'd also be happy with something unique.  :)

A Paula Abdul, Forever Your Girl casette tape. I listened to that thing for over a decade and made my own dance routines to half the songs that were on it.

Oh, I was definitely a Paula Abdul fan for awhile.  Had both Forever Your Girl and Spellbound on cassette tape, but I got them both as gifts.  Own them on cd now.  :)

Her hair gets ratty pretty quickly (she has a lot of it, after all.). :).

I don't think she's difficult to find (I've run across her 2 or 3 times,) but that might explain why she's harder to find.

Answering this one a little late, but...

I've been only buying from thrift stores lately.  Got a lovely FF Cotton Candy and a near mint (very white) Valentine's Baby within the last month, which made me happy.  :)

I eye eBay every now and again but they've gotten pricey.
