What type of ponies did you go for when you were a kid?

Aww, I'm jealous... I wish I had grown up with ponies! Of course, considering my age, I would've had G3, but still. I didn't get into them until last year.

I think I just went after any I was allowed to get with my 5 dollar allowance. There were some ponies I couldnt get like baby newborns or different playsets ect. We didn't have alot of money in those days. So I couldnt get every pony I saw.

Unicorns! 

But I rarely got to pick my ponies.  They were usually gifts so I was happy with anything I got.  But the unicorns were always my favorites.

I honestly don't think I cared much; I did not receive many ponies as a child. Must've been a sucker for pink or that's what whichever parent choose (I had 10 ponies growing up and 6 of them were pink-bodied).
I really liked the sparkly one (Napper) and the one that glowed in the dark (bright glow)... go figure...

I was happy with any pony I received. But I do remember that I particularly loved and wanted the mommy and baby sets! (I'm still partial to them or any ponies that are close enough looks wise to be a family) I had mommy and baby Ribbon and Mommy SS Fifi and baby Fifi. as well as a few other sets I remember wanting a baby for Applejack and Dancing Butterflies, I wanted them so badly!! Baby Applejack was one of the first ponies I actively went after when I started collecting as an adult. I still want baby Dancing Butterflies (has her price dropped any? last I looked she was in the $60 - $80 range )

I was always partial to unicorns too, and I would pick a fav from each group and try to get her.  Even back then I was already a serious and picky collector; I took everything into account when choosing my favorites.  Things like matching colors, even the name.  So stuff like the TAF babies bugged me because they didn't match the species of their moms.  I would have loved a baby for Milky Way if she had been a unicorn!

I went for the blues. I also went for the ponies that smelled. Since I juts started getting back into MLPs, I'm not sure if they had a name for them. I also went for the sparkly ones with glitter.

that would have to be the first ones i spotted which were the first 6 flat foot ponies, i wanted them so badly, i was so happy to finaly get a CP pony when the alt birthflower ponies hit the stores over here, i was so in love with the Collector pose BUT that was alittle later on.
after wanting minty, snuzzle, butterscotch etc i missed out on them by the time my parents came about buying me one, when i check the toy shop they were replaced by.......GLORY AND Co, so my next big love was glittery symbol ponies unicorns, pegusas and rainbow ponies 
they were so differnt, so fancy, flashy and more fantasy looking.

Me too!    But I liked fantasy ponies - unicorns, pegasi, flutters, and BABIES!  I felt I should have way more baby ponies than adult ponies for some reason.  Poor Tex was the only boy besides Lucky for a LOOOOOONG time in my herd!  LOL

When I first got into playing with them, it was early in the G3 years and I thought that only earth ponies existed.  So as much as I would've totally gone for the pegasi and unicorns, I didn't think they would ever exist, with the one exception being Star Catcher.  (Also, at that age, I thought these ponies were a new thing; I never knew that they started in the 80's and went from there.  Heck, just last year, I figured out that my Sky Skimmer was a G2!)

Colors usually were what drew me in.  I was a pink-obsessed girl but I always wanted variety in my ponies.  Still, I'd always use my spoiled-rotteness to make my parents buy me every pony we found.   I was so bad...  Also, I apparently had a thing for glitter ponies (despite hating glitter), because I have all but two of the original glitter ponies...
