Question about Rainbow Curl ponies
« on: July 23, 2012, 07:09:30 PM »
Hey all!  I'm restoring a rainbow curl pony, and I've got a question about their tails.  Was the tails originally divided into the four separate colours?  I'm working on streaky at the moment, so if anyone just happens to have pictures of what she is supposed to look like, that would be a great help.  I've tried googling it, but the photos I'm getting are 50/50 between 4 separate colours, and just 4 mixed coloured curls in the tail.

Thanks!

The MOC pictures of Rainbow Curl ponies that are on My Little Wiki show them with separated colours.

However, depending on how obsessive you are, this might drive you mad trying to separate them. I've done it a few times and it's quite time consuming and sometimes hard to tell the colour apart on individual strands.

Yeah, I have a Raincurl who had a really easily seperated tail, and then a Streaky whose tail is just one big colourful mess. I've put her with the other ponies so I can't see it & only styled her mane! I'm not sure I have the mental strength required to seperate each individual strand.

I think it is worth the time to try to separate the colors.  She looks so gorgeous with individually-colored curls.

It takes time but its worth it :) But yes they all had each colour in their tail in a separate individual curl.

My first Rainbow Curl pony I sat and separated her hair out, if took sooooo long, mostly because I could only stand doing it for bursts of a minute at a time (after which I turned into this guy  ot maybe this one  and could no longer tell colours apart!) Looks good when done, but I don't think I'll ever do it again...

That's so pretty! Now I feel compelled to do it. Unfortunately someone cut off the first pink section of the mane on my pony, so she has a crazy over-sized fringe, ha ha.

I don't know if you're rehairing the tail or having to separate what's already in there, but if you're rehairing i would keep a small elastic around each section when you put the tail plug back in. Then individually take the elastic off and curl that section, then rise and repeat!

If it's separating what's already there I would just get the tail wet and brush it out like a fan flat on a solid surface and pick the colors apart that way maybe with a fine toothed comb. But either way I'd definitely separate the colors! Sometimes when it's all one it looks like a muddy mess :(
