Personally- I love Pennywise but I would love a Beetlejuice too!

It seems like these may be the start of a new collector line- which makes sense, since it is more adults than kids that would be interested in MH at this point probably. (the kids have moved on).

I just noticed this posted on their new "Mattel Creations" site (which seems to be a rebranded repurposed matty collectors)

SKULLECTOR DOLLS
From the makers of Monster High™,Skullector™ is an all-new, horrifying collectible line of dolls featuring scare-raising skullebrities and some of the most haunting characters ever to appear on the silver scream. Crafted with to-die-for details, dead-on costumes, and drool-worthy accessories, they’re so creepy and collectible – it’s scary!

I also kinda like their MOTU crystal Skeletor, although I would have preferred Shera..

I find the language “from the makers of Monster High” to be very interesting. It sounds like they’re branding these as “Skullector Dolls” rather than an actual part of the MH line/branding. That’s a much better idea, IMHO, given the stark departure from the original look and themes of MH.

Pennywise not so much because it's the remake one. Props to them for using a girl for him, tho. Fans know Penny is really a female spider and just shapeshifts into a male clown for spoopy reasons.

This makes me happy, as well. :D Now bring on the spider-version doll! THAT I would buy. XD

Now that you mention it, we all know they have a spider body and head, COME ON MATTEL! They made how many versions of the spider girl? Two, right? The SDCC one and the I<3Fashion version. Perfect base for Spider!wise.

Beetlejuice and Lydia could have been a cool two-pack. But they'd probably use the Twyla mold for Lydia as well. I'd like to see some mods, like a Howleen head but with human ears, Draculaura head on Little Sister body, etc.

Btw, I heard the dolls went on sale again and were immediatly sold out due to scalper bots? x__x
That doesn't sound like Mattel Creations has their system in check. Nobody should be able to order more than five of the same item at once, imo. This stuff only pisses off the people they try to capture with this (old school MH fans).

Yeah, I heard about that too.  But there is still supposed to be a wide release to "retailers" on December something, so there will be more.

Yes, I misspoke there.  But the same is true for Mattel.  Usually.  Except when they underanticipate!

IE there were loads and loads of Shera sets, but I don't recall there ever being an overwhelming number of SDCC MOnster High extras...  although I didn't always keep track...

Yes, yes, I misspoke there.  I did say Mattel's SDCC dolls- but yes, MATTEL will have a big editon size- hopefully?   I mean, they do for some SDCC stuff...

The Dollhouse / MONSTER HIGH RETURNS

Well, not like it WAS of course, but there are a couple of "collector" dolls coming- apparently they are the dolls that Mattel was planning to release at SDCC, but ... you know, COVID thing.

ANyway the "official" release to retailers (I'm sure as usual, MATTEL has a HUGE edition size of these) - is technically December 2nd- but I'm SURE you will start seeing them various places earlier than that.

There are already "placeholder" listings on Amazon Canada and Amazon USA

Some details: http://www.youloveit.com/dolls/1129-mattel-will-release-2-new-monster-high-collector-dolls-in-2020.html

THIS is the site the initial batch was released through- but they sold out instantly because there were not many, and they were sold with a special poster or something.
https://creations.mattel.com/

HOWEVER-  according to their instagram-  they are hinting that something is coming- so I suspect they will pop back up on this site as well.

The dolls are the twins from THE SHINING
and PENNYWISE

I want Pennywise so bad, haha

The Dollhouse / Re: 40th anniversary Strawberry Shortcake doll
« on: October 30, 2020, 01:40:02 PM »
Off topic of the anniversary doll, but I wanted to ask those of you who like Strawberry Shortcake, is her big giant house, Berry Happy Home, hard to find and worth anything?  I found one at a flea market.  I didn't buy it, or even look at the price as I don't collect SS, but if it's desirable and I could make a profit or trade for ponies, I could go back for it.

I wouldn't-  the house IS "worth something" but selling it is not easy.

First, it is HUGE and HEAVY-   there is almost no box big enough - and it is crazy old brittle and fraglie- and the little tabs holding it together break ALL the time so I'm sure regardless of how well you pack the house- it will have some issues upon arrival.

Some people used to take the houses apart- you can do so VEEEEERY carefully with a hair dryer-  but still there are issue with how old and brittle the plastic is- and there is a VERY good chance you will get some breaking and cracking.  So I would never sell it to anyone but a friend who totally understood that it was UNLIKELY to reach them fully intact.

Otherwise- you can try to sell locally - but your price is going to be way way lower.

In Sum:  NOT WORTH IT.  Your best price will be on ebay and you will DEFINITELY get a "not as described" claim filed on your ass.

The furniture on the other hand-  definitely highly sought, and some of it is quite rare so if THAT comes with the house- go for it!

Truth be told I had an extra house- and none of my local SSC friends wanted it- so I scavanged the best parts off of it and left it on the sidewalk where someone picked it up in a heartbeat!  (I hope it was someone with a kid).

Given how loved that pony is- my vote is also doll hospital or parent repaired goods.

I got my set last week- they are super cute.  I do have extras of all except Twilight I think-  I also got a Fluttershy Chase which seems kinda pointless as she is just clear and you can't see the details.

Anyway I would have liked them to have dark colored in eye sockets like this!

Pony Corral / Re: Will it ruin the collectable value if I open the box?
« on: September 28, 2020, 08:52:18 AM »
For this particular pony I say NO because you will notice when you open it- that there is nothing that is broken or changed and you can put her right back in the box good as new

Not like the old carded ponies where you basically destroy the packaging to get the pony out

--  Also they just aren't that rare.  Unless you were planning to sell 20 years from now or something.

Oh my-  I.... ordered them!  They are so hilariously horrible !!

The pony head with legs is less appealing, although undisputedly grotesque.

Post Merge: September 21, 2020, 02:54:46 PM

I loved this artist's 3.5 ponies- even my wife was appreciative of the grotesque yet awesomeness of the "dissected" MLP...  how cool they are now licensed!  You have to give it to Hasbro sometimes for being pretty generous with its license.  You won't see a "dissectible" Barbie I wager...

I ordered the case.  I noticed Big Bad Toystore has a preorder available - you can buy the case for a whopping $215 plus shipping.  NO thanks BBTS!  I WILL say however- that they have better photos up.  Check it out- https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/133068

I don't even need the chase figures- I like the regular ones better :D

I like that they are small-  somehow larger would possibly be TOO gross?

how are they in person? the D&D set?
(i got cold feet and cancelled my preorder)

Well, they haven't shipped yet so no way of knowing.  They are still a preorder.  I think they are due next month but I am not sure

« on: September 16, 2020, 04:57:43 PM »
Morning Glory, I had her as a child and always loved her aqua body and neon hair. She is also the reason why I have tried (and failed) to grow Morning Glories in my garden.

Love pkw xxx

Wow I can't imagine growing morning glories on purpose!  They are pretty with pink and white flowers here but are a total obnoxious weed that grows up everything and is almost impossible to eradicate!  Maybe there are some tame varieties that don't go as bonkers as the wild ones but I would never knowingly put a morning glory in my yard- I am always ripping the poor things out...(they are as persistent as blackberries around here but at least they don't have thorns I guess)

29
Maybe a link to what she looks like would help or a photo for those too lazy to search around ?

I picked Rose Dust cuz that's the one I still have.  But Peach Blossom was my fav as a kid.  My sister and I also both got Morning GLory.  I like the artwork of her - but her hair is a little to neon in person...

Here's the art (from yum yum ponyworld)
