Diamond Mint water cutie variant?
« on: April 26, 2017, 09:15:29 AM »
Hi Everypony,

I just got an interesting pony in a lot.  I didn't notice until I got her in my hands, but my new Diamond Mint has a colourless head.  Her paints and mane are the same as my standard blue water cutie Diamond Mint.

Is this particularly unusual? I would appreciate peoples' opinions.

Link to the pic below, as I appear to be terminally unable to get pics to upload direct to posts (sorry).

Wonder if a Rarity head got mixed into the pile of Diamond Mint heads during production?

Hmm don't some translucent ponies discolor severely if left in the sun too much? Maybe that's the reason?

I have 3 diamond mints. One is normal, she was deboxed and stored with the rest of my g4s at Xmas and her head is still blue. The second has an almost clear head, but there's still a hint of blue. The third has a clear head, except for the neck plug. I really don't know why, but I'm unfortunately not sure if she always has this or it has developed over time. The two without blue heads were around the sun last summer on display, but no other water cutie was affected if the sun is to blame. However, it may have always been that way, since nobody else went clear :)

Edit: here's pics of mine compared to rarity and the others. :) it really does look like rarity's head!

When working in a factory with a clear toy there are lots of things that can go wrong in the process of production. If things are not just right chemically you will have all sorts of errors. I feel that this could be nothing more than a factory flaw.

I wonder where I put my Diamond Mint. She's still in her box and she has been inside cupboards and such since I had her, so no sun exposure. I will take a look and see if I can find her and see whether her head has or has not changed.

Just looked at mine, her head is clear and her neck plug/body is blueish. I've had her out of box sitting on a shelf since roughly the time of her release, out of direct sunlight and rarely exposed to fluorescent lighting.
Thanks to Lunacat for the lovely art
