I'd be interested in attending.  For my work I would need to know when to ask off and then just hope that there aren't any conflicts.

My mom and grandma are very familiar with the area.  I'll have to ask them if they have any suggestions for venues.

We should have little gifts for everyone! Like we can make some fun-size candy goodie bags with MLP stickers and Ooooo maybe do a pony raffle?! I have plenty of excellent condition G3's we could use as prizes!

fwiw, I'm not sure a coffee house is the best option for a pony meet - most coffee houses (that I've seen, anyway) don't really have that kind of space, and most people who hang out in coffee houses tend to expect a quieter, more calm atmosphere, conducive to things like studying, reading, or writing.

Thanks for the input, CM!

Yes, that's definitely something to consider. If we have a pretty big group, I'm afraid a Starbucks might not work..

Thank y'all for the input and suggestions. Keep 'em coming! :) I got overwhelmed because I was making this way way bigger than it needs to be... We gotta start somewhere! ;) I love the suggestion of having a pony raffle (s) and goodie bags of some kind...I may have some G1 ponies to give as prizes as well :)
I'm going to look at calender, start getting a list of things / attendees together and tentatively say it will be Summer 2016 in Tyler.

Sunset, let me know what y'all come up with as far as venues. Price checks would be helpful, too. I haven't started actively looking into any prices myself. I was leaning towards just making a reservation at a restaurant with a nice private table - that way food will be covered and we don't have to worry about bad weather situations if we held it outside..?

@clawdeenmewleen LOL woah, I'm jealous! What coffee stores are you going to that are quiet!? XD No matter what coffee shops I go to every one either has a handful of screaming toddlers walking around getting in peoples way or there is ALWAYS those annoying large groups of teenagers laughing very loud at nonsense LOL! I see people with laptops using the wifi , that's the only relaxing thing I see at those places. Maybe its because of my area? Frisco is full of those spoiled annoying people after all.

I still think the comic book store in Plano would be awesome venue and there is a Cicis right down the shopping center if im not mistaken! Would be a fun place to eat! I wonder what places in Tyler have to offer! In usually there in the nature and occasionally I will stop by like a Braums on the way home! xD

Oh my heck, Houston collector if you can make it I would be soooo excited! I think you have the biggest mlp all-gen collection in all of Texas! It would be so cool to meet ya! We've been chatting for years about ponies!!

If its on the DFW metro I will seriously be willing to help out with anything I possibly can!!! I reaaaaly want a pony meet to happen here!

I will take a tally of who would be interested in coming and make an RSVP deadline. For now, I know it will be Summer 2016 in Tyler. This is a Texas Meet up focusing on the 'early years' (G1 - G3) -- but any collector is welcome. I'm gonna say right now that I am chemically sensitive, so I ask that guests refrain from wearing a lot of perfume / cologne, or better even, none at all..hate to be Debbie Downer but I have to let y'all know..

Alrighty..now that's out of the way, I'm going to start looking at restaurants / venues places. Here are my suggestions:

Olive Garden -- not so much for the food (ha) but - they do have a pretty nice private table / room. It's not huge - but it will work.

Villa Montez - Latin American restaurant (former mansion-turned restaurant) with gorgeous 'large party/private/semi-private' rooms. I've been several times, and their food is excellent.

Ground Zero Comics - they recently moved into a larger place and it's gotten better.. but I haven't been since they moved to new location . . . Plus it's close to Villa Montez if we wanted to eat lunch there and then do pony stuff at the comics place..

Additional suggestions -- someone said Panera's Bread -- we do have one in Tyler, but I haven't been..so not sure how good their food is, or what their space is like. Starbucks was also suggested, but all the Starbucks here are super small and wouldn't really do good with a large(er) group.

Please PM me if you would be interested in attending. I hope to make a new post with more concrete details once everything is finalized. :)

So, I did ask my mom for suggestions but she said it's been too long since she lived there to be able to give up to date suggestions.  Then I remembered that my uncle still live in the area and asked him for suggestions.  He said he would look into it but I haven't heard back from him yet.

Ok, thanks for the update, Sunset! :)  :ohyeah:
I can't think of any other restaurants that have good (and not *too* expensive) food and private/semi-private rooms..Nothing is set in stone just yet so if your uncle has any other recommendations, we'll take them!

I can't say for sure right now :/ Tyler seems a really far drive and I know for sure my mom won't take me, I'm not too comfortable with just my boyfriend and me riding the highway.... idk what the future hold for me right at this instant :s
