Just going through some ponies I brought from eBay a week a go.... Finding 3 dead centipedes including one that was still attached to a dead spider... Mangled in the hair of ponies.... Gross... I was doing it on my bed and now yuck... Sorry I hate bugs... On a funny note I have a strawberry fair with a receding hairline... The quality of hair on her is so bad the hair but have snapped off at some point.... Still going through the box hoping no more dead bugs are lying in wait...

...I would have ran away screaming at the first sight of that xD I have a really dirty G3 pony with mud encacked in her hair somewhere around here that I'm too squeamish to clean up.. Once, I dunked her in hot water and the water turned green. That was enough to do it for me.

Just remember, the grimier the pony, the more amazing she'll seem to look once she's cleaned up! Haven't seen any truly disgusting things while cleaning ponies yet, but I'm not that squeamish. Still, dead bugs would be a pretty unpleasant surprise. >.<

If they were alive I would be screaming.... Poor things however are very dried out and well the centipedes unfortunately are perfectly preserved. They are all residing in the paper bin now though! Wow u i have never dunked a pony that bad before @.@ I bet she looked amazing when u finished with her!
I know... But I looked through the box when it came... Didn't see the bugs at that point though... Good job too my mum prob go ape at what I'm bringing in the house!
Yeah I hope no dead bugs are around my bed now... Yuck
However not to be deterred there were some nice ponies... So bugs or no bugs I'm glad i got then lol!!!

I would have kept at least one of the bugs given the great shape they were in , or at least saved them for prank ice cubes.

Ahh dead mouse... Probably would have made me sad. But probably sick if it had maggots in it. The unlucky pony with spider and centipede was daddy apple delight and nss magic star and eu bright eyes with the other two. Griminess.

I live with 3 tarantulas as pets, think centipedes and millipedes are cool, but am grossed out by earwigs! YUCK! I guess we all have our tipping point lol

Haha that's awful but also hilarious! My mum used to work in a library and they often found weird things in books. Once a rasher of bacon and once a condom. Bookmarks maybe? I have no idea.
Btw, was the mouse in any way relevant to the game?! I'm imagining mousetrap with a real mouse now.
And Napper, that's horrible! I've only ever had sticky or grimy ponies, none so far with added extras.

This reminds me of the thread where (cannot remember who...really sorry...my brain is not working these days) was reztoring a baby moondancer or glory and found dead bug larvae inth hoof when she popped the head off. I don't know which is worse but can say I bet they will be gorgeous when cleaned : )

I had a really nasty moldy baby pony. My dad thankfully cleaned it for me.
(side I found some dead centipedes last Christmas in my uncles hot chocolate...)

I was sending out ponies from when I was just clearing out stuff and throwing it into bags, and after they were in the mail I started opening the ones I kept and kept finding little dead beetles and stuff.

I really really hope no one ended up with any dead bugs because of me.

I opened up a G3 and found a dead stinkbug inside... Those things get EVERYWHERE here. :(

Now I'm glad the worst I've had to deal with are just dirty ponies, rusty ponies and one or two sort of mouldy ponies, Touch wood. :P
Well when pony hunting I have dug through some pretty nasty looking boxes though,. Eugh

I'm really chill about any bug that can't cause me serious harm. My normal reaction to a spider in my room is to ignore it and go about with my business. But THIS would kill me! I don't mind seeing live worms in the ground, and dead bugs are gross but can be dealt with easily, so no big deal. There's just something about finding live worms in pony hair that makes me want to cry.
Luckily I've never had to deal with this kind of thing, but I haven't done a ton of secondhand buying yet. The worst I've had to deal with was some bits of crumb stuck in a pony's hair. :P That and my childhood fakie... I found it behind my bed where it had been sitting against the sliding glass door for years. She had such a potent mildewy smell that took forever to fade (yet somehow no mold). That's nothing in comparison to bugs, though. xD

I'm rarely grossed out by insects, unless we talk about 'croaches, now that's gross.
but still, I'd be pretty freaked out If inside of my ponies I find bugs, like, you don't expect that.
but still, I guess finding silverfish or firebrats don't scare me, I think they are funny xP
but if I founded larvaes or centipedes.....now that's a different story.
and now that I think about it, I haven't opened my ponies, in cas they have something inside....

Ok, so i love both centipedes and (especially) spiders when they are alive, but one thing that freaks me out in this world are dead spiders! I would have absolutely screamed in horror.

THIS, totally. **headdesk.** This is one reason why I'm quite picky about the conditions of Ponies I'll seek out. Although if the seller lies there's no way to really find that out until it's too late. I'd hate to think the seller lied here, but I too wonder how on Earth said seller wouldn't have noticed!

The ponies would have been launched out my window as well I am afraid...I live surrounded by woodlands and am a true country bumpkin, I can cope with mice and spiders and most other things...but cant cope with worms or centipedes for some reason.

Spiders are small and quick and there's no time to tell if it's harmless or not, I have to kill them without getting too close to them using things I never want to touch again! Irrational but true :lol: Well, never opening up my childhood pony until she shows definite signs of tail rust now :shocked: Everything with something dead in there had something alive in it once, after all.

I would've died! The one thing I'm most scared of with secondhand items are bedbugs though!!! Me and my mom, we're so scared of them we check every inch of hotel roo,ms we're in!

I suppose the ponies (or the box where they were delivered in) were just stored for a long time in some dusty basement or garage or whatever, and the insects just crawled in, lived there for a while and then kicked the bucket. The seller just sent everything away without any further checking. Which is, of course, nothing one should do without explicitly mentioning something like: "I just dug out my raunchy hellhole of a basement. There's a possibility of funky moulds, dead and alive insects, mummified rodents or other rotting organisms in those boxes. Buy this rubbish at your own risk! Wear rubber gloves and a face mask!"

The seller was selling there childhood collection. Been in attic long time... Although I'm wondering if they had a fascination with bugs as some of the ponies also had glow in the dark plastic bugs in the hair as well!! Strange:)

Im totally not scared by bugs and all. But I find it kinds strange and kinda rude of the seller. I would always check the state of the product wich will be shipped and make sure its at least packaged decent. :/

Oh so glad I'm not the only one! Bugs make my skin crawl... and I love to garden - go figure! (I'm usually good if the bugs stay at the other end of my garden tools, but if they get on me... then it's time for a break indoors, away from the buggage.)
I would've been icked out, but not enough to pitch the ponies. :blush: What seriously grosses me out, though, is small hairs of dubious human bodily origin in pony manes & tails. :X So don't wanna go there...

:biggrin: Hahaha, this may happen in a similar way over here. My mother's not scared of spiders at all, while I am the epitome of an arachnophobiac. Thus, imagine a phone call like this:
Flutterma: (business voice) "Flutterma speaking. Hello?"
Flutterwry: (almost in tears) "Mama?"
Flutterma: (a bit worried) "Oh. Hi. It's you. What's new?"
Flutterwry: (upset) "Mama, you must come over. Right now! It's a matter of life and death!"
Flutterma: (puzzled) "What happened?! Is Flutterbaby alright?!"
Flutterwry: (panicking) "There's a dead spider on my bed!!"
Flutterma: (WTF'd) "You're aware that this is a 5h and over 400km car ride, right?"

(In the end I may remember that there's Flutterspouse to take care of it as soon as he returns from work. Or the bathroom. Or whatever. Preferably before I admit myself to the insane asylum...)

while i was cleaning a G3 that my cousin "gave" (threw at and said "take this" to) me the entire rust-ridden tail popped out with the broken metal washer, along with a river of green and brown water. it would seem she played with her in the bath. it was so full with water i didnt even know there was any in there

this. To an extent. Yes they must be killed, spesh if they happen to be a red back or white tail, but I can splatter them with a shoe. A huntsman, on the other hand, is definitely a call daddy spider. *shudders*
finding a dead spider is just as gruesome as finding a live one, cause for that first second you don't see dead spider, you just see spider, and that's all it takes to start a freak out!!!

Eww... Dead centipedes? Really? The seller should be really ashamed of him/herself. If he/she had any sort of decency in them and respect for his/her buyers, you'd think he/she'd at least show some politeness and removed those dead bugs from the ponies' hair.
This is just unthinkable... I myself have been selling off stuff on my auctions, and while most of the things I sold were not really in the super-duper condition, at least I tried to keep hem in good shape. Not only because I don't want people complaining and giving me negative feedback, but also because I simply don't want to disappoint, because I myself wouldn't like it if I got a product that had some sort of hidden flaws and such.
Sorry to hear of this unpleasant surprise. :(

This thread reminds me of the one time I had ponies in storage when I was a little girl. I dug out my Princess Serena and she had a dead wasp tangled up in her mane. DX

I got a good dozen ponies from a local buyer. There were a few so softs. They had crusty cement bugs and milipedes stuck to their flocking and hair. Yummy...

Oh gosh, the horror. Was there nothing to indicate that as being the case during the closing of the transaction? Or were you aware of it and were brave enough to get them anyway?

No was definely not expecting the extras lol... I would probably still bought them regardless. I would never send ponies out with dead bugs lol!

Super gross!!! I once found live moth in my grocery bag when I got home. I freaked out and threw out the bag immediately (I let the moth go outside, and put the bag in the trash outside, not in the trash can inside).
But, I usually don't bring my thrift store finds into my bedroom until they have been cleaned. I actually keep it separate until I get a chance to wash them. But, I normally think ebay stuff is better, but I guess people could be selling stuff they got from thrift stores without even cleaning them up first.

I on the other hand think they are the neatest bugs ever and let them sit on me and I feed them soda. I however have yet to find any extras on any ponies I have gotten.

As much as those things terrify me, that is almost tempting to try this summer while they're buzzing around us in the pool. I just don't wanna get stung. Was stung by one once on the pad of my thumb and it didn't feel good at all.

Lol. I was slightly amused. If only the ponies could talk, I don't really complain when they cost .50 each and can be washed.

Ugh, I started reading this thread while eating a cookie- not the best idea.
Anyways, last year, we were cleaning out my grandparents' garage. I was in there carrying out boxes, when I saw something in the dark, near the front of my flip-flops. It was near a piece of furniture, so I bend down to look and thought was a rope....I leave, and within ten minutes I hear someone scream, and rush outside. Turns out it was a snake, and a big one at that; I refused to go back in. I'm going to have to go back in soon, because I found out my aunt's old G1 ponies are in there somewhere.

Oh wow, this apparently is not an uncommon thing? I'm not afraid of bugs (other than bees) but there are certain places I just wouldn't want them, and ponies are included. >_< I don't understand why they would be drawn to them or get inside them either.
