How to display MOC ponies?
« on: July 01, 2012, 07:49:19 AM »
I've just managed to get some shelves up so all my MIB ponies are finally on display and not just in bags but I've got some MOC Lanards I haven't been able to show off yet. Their cards are all a bit damaged and worn and I worry maybe a little too weak to hang. I've seen those little self-adhesive hooks, even tiny clear ones, and I was considering using them but I wanted to ask how other people display MOC ponies... maybe some creative solutions?

My biggest worry is that if I hang them they'll fall off at some point and get even more damaged. But I don't have any room to even just lean them up against anything.

Back when I had the space I had my MOCs on place racks - you know the ones you display antique plates on

You could also buy some thin wainscoting board and use it to support them - just be sure not to drill down over the packaging!

I use those clear plastic hooks, they've been great. Although the first time I did them, I was impaitent and didn't leave them long enough before hanging the ponies on them. But the new ones I've left for two days before using, and they've been up for almost a year, without any problems.

Those racks look really awesome! :)
Maybe I'll try the stick on hooks and leave them alone extra long to make sure.

Dear Pony Gods, please let this turn into a thread with lots of MOC collection Pictures!!!!!

But no really, I have always been a fan of non-overlapping wall-hanging MOC ponies.

Plate racks fantastic idea Sebby!

I have always just used wide support picture hooks to "hang" and then underneath flat top pins to support the weight of the card so there is no risk of the weight ripping through the hook.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Sebby, that looks fantastic!  I am so stealing that idea when I eventually get back to Australia.

One thing you need to keep in mind with mocs, is that hooks can damage the cards, and that the weight of a toy in the bubble can pull the bubble off in time.  I always displayed mine resting on something else (like a mib or just the shelf) so that the bubble was being supported underneath, but I have heard of people tying the bubble to the card with fishing line so that it had more support.
