I actually found everything quite reasonably priced. I paid less than a tenth of said ^ price for my flight, hotel, and ticket

Haha, including flight from California, hotel, food, and spending money I rarely spend *one* thousand!  This year is a little more expensive for me, because of the parks, but still, much less than that.

But then, you're in Australia? So yeah, 5 grand is probably about how much it'd cost you.

Really wish I was going this year, but alas, the money wasn't there.  Maybe next year things will be more solvent or I can convince my mom that she's always wanted to go to a Pony Fair - what a great way to celebrate her retirement right?

No   We did consider going, since we've been wanting to visit Orlando for a while, but decided against it in the end. And that turned out to be a very good thing, since my hubby hasn't been working for a few months now.

BFB is in a different continent not just a different state so I feel her "financial" pain on this one....international flights to Florida in July are holiday season unfortunately so they do get very very pricey. The cheapest flights I could get from Scotland would be around the $1000 mark as well. And thats before hotels, transfers, etc.

However, under $500 for your trip is a great deal - no matter where you are travelling from - congrats...more money to spend on ponies!

Can't go, unfortunately; it's farther than Dad's willing to travel (we live in Alabama).
