Price check on Star Trek game new in box
« on: June 16, 2012, 01:43:55 PM »
I happened upon this brand new Star Trek TNG Future's Past game. It's not been used. I did open the box a bit to see if all the stuff is there for it. There is a price tag on it from Blockbuster, back  when they had stores just for selling new videos, games and music. I'm sure there are quite a few Trekkies here to lend me a hand on this.

In the condition the box was described, it's used. Not in shrinkwrap plus sticker on box equates to used. It's not a collectors item, and it's not a classic SNES game, either.

It's probably only worth about $5-10. I spent a long time working at a store that sold used games, everything from the 2600 to the newest gen consoles, if someone came in with this, I'd offer them three bucks for it then put it on the shelf for $10.

SNES games in boxes (generally) aren't instant collectors items unless they're made by Atlus, Square, Enix, or Nintendo.

Not every new SNES game came in shrink wrap. They only started shrink wrapping near the end of the SNES line.

The only downfall when companies don't shrinkwrap is that there's never a real way of saying if it's been used or not. I have a couple of old games I only used once or twice, they look flawless in appearance though. There used to be a Nintendo seal at either end, if I remember, on games without shrinkwrap.
And worse, when companies put stickers across the box - There's a good chance you'll damage the box when attempting to remove it, which puts a lot of hardcore collectors off.

I'd also go with $5-10, honestly.
