Ooh I saw that listing, apparently it was a friend of hers who bought a storage unit and it happened to have all these G1 MOC/MIB ponies!
What are the odds?!
At the same time it makes me kinda sad, like why was the unit abandoned in the first place? :( It seems clear that this was a passionate pony lover... I hope that they’re okay and it’s nothing too sad!
Wow! :dropjaw: :dropjaw: So many beautiful MOC/MIB G1 ponies I also wonder how the original owner lost possession of the storage unit as it looks like whoever the original owner was took great care to store them carefully.
It looks like there are a lot of things that we don't see MOC/MIB often. Do I see Greek MOCs also?
Ponyfan
I dont think they were a passionate collector. I dont know the story either but the ponies were all found just in giant boxes, not all neat and on display like that.

I haven't been active in the community for awhile now, but a friend of mine messaged me with the story about this and my mind is absolutely BLOWN!!! We're each hoping that a MOC of our favorites ends up showing up at some point, because I will claw my way through the fray to get my hands on a MOC SS Twilight!! I'm also drooling like crazy over the pictures of the MIB Dream Beauties, among others. Just...WOW...
if that was me, i'd move into that storage unit!!
The way they're organized, I think whoever put them in there cared a lot their ponies.
It is very sad the person has passed. But maybe they would be happy to know that the proceeds will help the family.
I don't know if I will bid. There are a few that I'd like to have but, I also like having them out of the box.
I wonder if there's a Taffeta in that collection. I see Dawn, but not Taffeta. I still have three from that set I'm looking for MIB, although I really can't afford any of them xD.there is, you can see her in the video linked above :)
Someone has bid over $2,0000 for Baby Firefly :ack:That's madness! Wow.

Also MIP ponies via the GSP is risky anyway. I think it'd have to be a lower price for me to risk it.
Heres the short story: The original owner of the storage locker passed away and the locker went up for sale, a person who buys storage lockers for a living happened to buy it for 300$. Inside were all the ponies you see plus tons of transformers, hotwheels, comics etc. I don't think it was a collector, perhaps just a man who liked to horde toys. You can see the locker here before the buyers cleaned it out:
Yes... I went back and saw $2,000  I can only think that person really wants her. But even so, doesn't that mean that someone had to bid them up? I thought Ebay did automatic bidding?
Yes it would be great to know how/why he collected all those ponies!QuoteHeres the short story: The original owner of the storage locker passed away and the locker went up for sale, a person who buys storage lockers for a living happened to buy it for 300$. That's a really lucky find! That guy must have liked ponies somewhat. The mail order ponies are there too. Plus, loose ponies. Maybe they came from garage sales.
Alright so. The person who shot Baby Firefly up to $2,000 is also the person who's in the lead on Sweet Scoops and Yum Yum. They're the highest bidder on 23 of these ponies total and if that's not extremely sketchy, I don't know what is. I did the math and they'd owe $5,104.17 to the seller if they won them all at the current prices, before shipping of course. They've either gotta be a non paying bidder, or they're bidding purely for the sake of raising the prices.

Wow! This is so crazy. Very much like actual dreams I’ve had except I always wake up before actually getting to posses the ponies. I was hoping that I might get to snag a couple of these for decent prices with the market basically being flooded at the moment. But the Baby Firefly thing is concerning :/ and I just looked and it looks like that bidder only has 1 feedback. Very scetchy....
Such an exciting find! Its like Pony Heaven! Is it terrible that I am so jealous of the person who found it??

In short, the seller pays ebay to do the sending to your country via their agent - the risks are:
1* very expensive for you as a buyer (you pay extra shipping for the agent service PLUS import duties)
2* the packing agents see something in a box (MIB) and de-box the item so it fits in their packing boxes.
3* Or they bend your items in such a way that they are no longer considered mint. >_< >_< >_<
so, not a popular shipping choice for those worried about the quality of the care of their purchases!
I messaged the seller about GSP and they said the next batch won’t be sold via GSP. I also asked if I won an auction and pay can they just NOT send it through GSP and they said yes.

Yes just normal international shipping.
Is anyone else having trouble getting the 2nd page of ponies on Ebay to load? I can see the first page just fine but the 2nd page doesn’t show the ponies on it. I can still find them by searching by individual pony names but not by clicking the 2nd page on “See seller’s other items.
Sweet Scoops is almost $900 now. :wow:

But wouldn't the most likely cause of this be shill bidding? Where the seller is artificially raising prices? Because I can't think of any reason for a normal bidder to inflate prices like that...
I'm just going to sit back and watch what happens. I've been able to get several mib ponies for good prices here, on FB and from local collectors so I'd rather not overpay because of a frenzy.
Are we all screenshotting photos of these for wiki pages? We should get permission from the seller. Especially as some of these have never been seen MIB/MOC are may not be seen again!
What has never been seen MIP before though? I haven't seen anything yet that hasn't been on ebay in the past at one point or another?
They're US carded ponies, which are much more common than MOC packages from any other place, probably due to the size of the country. There's some really rare stuff in there, but nothing that hasn't come up before. (I want to emphasise that before anyone sells their soul to buy a pony xD)

Admittedly I'm far from being the font of all pony knowledge but I personally have never seen a MOC BH Dazzleglow or SSSN in boxes so it was nice to see them on card. I know that many of them have been seen before, and people already probably own many of them MOC :)
If there are any photos missing from Wiki pages now would be the time to add them, whether or not they've been seen before!
Blue heart MOC Dazzleglow's pictured on my website O.o.
On another note, I think Twilight's bubble has been retaped at the top. It looks like discoloured tape.

It's true the SSN haven't come up MIP for a very long time. They are super rare MIB. They have been up before but it's probably been more than ten years, now I think about it. Like with the Dream Beauties - in the early 2000s there were loads of those MIP but now they hardly come up. That's why I suspect this collection was put together then rather than now, when those things were more available.
I think it's sad thinking how much we took for granted and didn't save in the past that now is not seen as much as it was then. I know there were several big MIP collections back then, and I strongly suspect when the Delaneys sold Helen's stuff and then their own stuff most of these items came up including the ones you mention. The good thing about that is that there are other examples xD And that we have an opportunity to fill those gaps on the other sites that do still exist to include them.
It's the UK and European ponies that are the problem. There are sole surviving examples of those and some we've never seen MIP yet.
I've got permission to use the photos for the Wiki :)
I think the general consensus is that it’s not a collector, it’s old shop stock. Welcome back Reaperfox!

Shop stock with mail order ponies? And from what it seems, each one of the ponies of all sets/years, no doubles? I really have doubts about that. I think it was a person who just bought the stuff back in the day (and thats why they dont have non US ponies either).
They did say there were two boxes didn't they? Isn't there a chance the other one has Euro/Non US ponies in it? I just find it difficult to imagine a collector with this much passion (and money) doesn't own ANY non-US ponies? (I think I saw NSS Magic Star there maybe).
Hello I have risen from the grave XD

That’s true! But what about all the other 80s toy stock that was in there? Very varied for a toy collector although I know people can (and do) collect in more than one area.
Just that it seemed odd to me to say something had never been seen before because it's not on the Wiki. A lot of stuff isn't on the wiki.

...I never said anything about it never being seen because it wasn’t on the Wiki? I think I was just excited because I had never seen them before! What can I say, I’m easily pleased and I definitely missed out on the ‘cheap’ MOC days!
Meme bidding. A 21st century problem.
It used to be much harder to retract and there were strict rules in play. I am pretty suspicious of baby glory and baby firefly both. Less so on some of the others. I feel something bidder related is going on on those two. But it would be so much better if ebay was as transparent as it used to be. I realise showing bidder names brought its own problems but it was so much easier to police scam behaviour by building solid patterns of activity.
I don't suspect the seller of doing anything wrong. I sent a msg to ask about Twilight and he said he was going to ho double check the conditions to be certain...
He did flub a few words, like when he said a playset was the Satan Slipper Sweet Shoppe.
It could come with a special edition devil pony. Which would definitely be a BBE. :P:lmao:
I have to admit that if my funds weren't so limited right now I'd probably be bidding on a few of these.
I still can't figure out how all of the bubbles and boxed ended up mostly intact if they were just sitting in boxes.
I have a friend that isn't in to ponies at all but when she saw my pic of Basic Fun Moondancer she was really exicted and wanted me to help her get one. I could see her bidding on the MOC Moondancer because Moondancer is the only pony she wants.
Ponyfan
I'd die if I came across a storage locker like that, lol! Why does it seem all the good pony loot is found on the west coast US if Hasbro is on east coast? Just something I've noticed over the years.

It is possible to stack them. I speak of experience, some of mine have been unsuitably stacked in the past due to space without any damage occuring. But I have them much better organised now and with bubblewrap and in smaller doll boxes so they're not all pressed together like they were before. I think it's more of a miracle the glue didn't dry out on more of them. And they aren't more yellowed. Some of them are very clean looking.
I used to stack my MOCs, back when I had a lot and couldn't display them all. They actually stack very nicely if you alternate them. Like, if you put Twilight in the Tupperware with her feet pointing south, then you put Moondancer in, upside down compared to Twilight, with her legs pointing north. I hope this makes sense . . .
I haven't looked at the end prices but I would suggest not using this as a gauge for mip prices!
I haven't looked at the end prices but I would suggest not using this as a gauge for mip prices!
Not all of the prices are going to be crazy. But as of right now, it is a gauge of demand, and that's what someone wanted to pay.

That's why I said not to use it as a gauge. Because this scenario is a one off. It's impossible to value based on something like this, high OR low. I never said anything at all about them all going much higher. More likely some will go out of the ballpark and others will not reach their usual value because of distractions and people deciding what they can afford to bid on.

When I said crazy, I was referring to the obvious baby firefly isn't worth $2,000. But the other ones that have ended aren't too outlandish imho.
Like all items, a pony is only worth what people want to pay for it.
Also flooding the market like this is going to keep some of the prices lower potentially. Those who are interested in buying MIB/MOC aren't going to be able to afford all of these in one go.

So nobody atm can give a rough estimate?
Bid in the last minute and drink their bitter tears.
Be sure to snipe (bid in the last minute), it can save you a LOT of money because a lot of people don't accurately gauge how much they're REALLY willing to spend on a pony. If you bid two hours before the auction ends, the other bidders have the chance to hem and haw and justify spending more. Never give them this opportunity, lol. Bid in the last minute and drink their bitter tears.
I love the last 5 sec bids. And I don't cry if I lose them cause I always bid at that moment the maximum amount I consider the pony costs. So if I lose it is just fair for me. But I reckon that it has saved me a lot of money. That is a great advice.

But why on earth does he tag the Brush'n Grows with "LGBTQ"?
So far there are 2 people buying a majority of these, with some people being able to beat them out or they just aren’t interested in that particular pony. Like holy goodness let someone else have some too lol. Anyone here lucky enough to grab any of them? There’s a group I definitely have my eye on that hasn’t been listed yet, but if this trend keeps happening with 2 crazy buyers I probably won’t have any luck.

So.
There's 24 unique winners (as of when I was bored and checked).
19 people have won 1 auction.
2 people won 4 auctions
1 person won 3 auctions
and our two heavy hitters.
15 auctions -- tends to snipe in last few seconds, so that's believable.
and 12 auctions <-- and that is the one I'm kinda eh about because of firefly and bidding on SO many, very oddly, and the current winning totaling up to $5,111ish. ( obviously not including still live auctions like 1,575 for sweet scoops or other auctions with a current high bid.).
I'm trying to believe that person just really wants MIB Baby Firefly and MIP Sweet Scoops really bad but I also think the bidding amounts aren't normal and find the fact that they're bidding on so many auctions at once a little suspicious. Sweet Scoops is up to almost $2000 now.

Yeah, it'd odd. I've seen people suggest it could be shill bidding, but I don't think that's the case for a few reasons. The prices of Baby Moondancer and Baby Firefly, for example. If this p***i bidder was the seller trying to raise the prices to make money, they wouldn't bid prices so high to where no one else would be willing to bid higher than them, since then their item will not sell. It feels like this is a troll who is just determined to place bids high enough to where nobody else is able to outbid them. Either they do not intend on paying for these ponies, or alternatively they're.. super rich and are somehow able to afford these. But it does feel like this is an outside person who is determined to not let other people have a chance to win.

Yeah, I agree with you. Either the seller is gonna block the bidder, report them or just relist the ponies they bidded on or offer them to the second highest offer.

thats exact my thought. - I'm curious how many ponies we will see AGAIN xD . I bought 4 Ponies - (amazing magic ) HAHAHA
the rest was ridiculously high - I sold a Baby Firefly 1-2 weeks ago in a much better condition for $160
But if the seller changes the rules, like you have to have at least 20 feedback/purchases then other people will have a better chance.
But if the seller changes the rules, like you have to have at least 20 feedback/purchases then other people will have a better chance.
You can't do that on eBay, not is it really fair to others.
As I said, that buyer has racked up $5,000+ in winnings so far, with the potential of $2,000 more. :/ The seller should really be handling that because it isn't fair to any other potential buyers for the prices to inflate like that IF that buyer isn't serious.

Oh really? I could of sworn in the past I’ve seen things like that in listings where the seller says they will atomically block you if you have less than so many good feedbacks/purchases
- Don't have a PayPal account
- Have received 2 Unpaid Item strike(s) within 12 Month(s)
- Have 4 Policy Violation report(s) within 6 Month(s)
- Have a feedback score of -1 or lower

As a setting you can block people with negative feedback. That's specifically what I'm referring
Block able things:Quote- Don't have a PayPal account
- Have received 2 Unpaid Item strike(s) within 12 Month(s)
- Have 4 Policy Violation report(s) within 6 Month(s)
- Have a feedback score of -1 or lower
I mean sellers can block whoever they want, but it's going to send flags to retract bids so they can block buyers all Willy nilly
Adding on: a buyer with 100 feedback isn't a better buyer with 10 feedback, honestly.
I think there’s a seller function where you can block people with zero feedback to avoid people creating fake accounts being silly and bidding things up when they have no intention of paying. I have blocked buyers for a variety of reasons, it just depends on how much sellers are willing to put up with!
Have received 2 Unpaid Item strike(s) within 12 Month(s)
Wow, that's good to know, Taffeta! So maybe they are legit . . . It would explain why the bubble / backdrop of the box didn't have any sign of being opened.
Uhh... hope its really original sealed.
I bought 3 of the twin sets. By my other 2 sets the Ribbon is not at the tail. But i will let you know 😂😉

Someone on Ebay just listed a MOC sugarberry with that sellers pics and a low buy it now, and their from china. So watch out people
Did anyone else see that lot of about 20 ponies that had Diamond dreams and maybe one or two other semi htf ponies that was bid up to over $500? It was ending around the same time as these MOC ponies. I didn't see what it actually went for. It came with a few common incomplete playsets and with some accessories too so my though was huh..maybe there is a cup or comb in there that is worth some crazy amount of money lol. I should have messaged Chip at the time to see what she thought  I literally know nothing about accessories..I feel like it was ridiculously overpriced for the condition of the actual ponies though...maybe I'm just completely out of the loop on the current prices
Man, $5,000!Whoa. Is that a record? Has a single pony (MIB or otherwise)?!
I know some Nirvana's have gone $5,000 and up

That?
Wow!! That is a huge lot of ponies!! I don't think that was the one I saw, there was definitely not that many... with that being said I think this is the highest I have seen lots going for though in a long time, wonderful for sellers!
Someone on Ebay just listed a MOC sugarberry with that sellers pics and a low buy it now, and their from china. So watch out people
Thanks for the warning PrincessTiffy. I hope we don't see more of the seller's pics stolen to sell items.

Heads up, the seller is listing MO MIP Tux n' Tails and MO MIP Mommy and Baby.
This sellers new terms is worrying. Release an address of NPBs? Blocked for asking questions between certain times. WTF?

Uh, but like it means people in the US can't message him outside that window too. Like I do most of my personal time within the window of 6am-8am-- because it tends to be the only time other people in my house aren't up. And that doesn't jive with his window.
9_9 Although he is an idiot and shouldn't assume people know what time zone he is in.

I know, but people outside America will have it more difficult to send an email. Also, they would have word it in another way and not like they had a tantrum. That only makes drive off potential customers.
If I was making the money he is from this locker, I’d be doing it gladly with a smile on my face!
There’s also no need for all the caps. WE GET THE MEASSAGE! XD

NOoooot me. Selling all this stuff on ebay would be a nightmare. I HATE selling ponies to collectors. I'd hire someone to sell it for me.

That’s why you’re not out there buying storage lockers! He’s probably done this dozens of times before but he’s clearly underestimated how passionate the pony community is!

I don't see how it is a tantrum to set a rule. He doesn't want to wake up to a bunch of messages. That's fair.
It's a 16 hour window... everyone's schedule should potentially overlap with it for just a hot 5 minute moment to send a message.
Like right now, you are up during this time. So.
I guess I don’t understand the email restriction because can’t he just turn off notifications? Set his phone on night mode?

He also said he would stop using gsp...has he?
Such terms also suggest much trolling on the last lot.
I think he may be listing them in the evening (or at the moment he is). I am in the same time zone and as I was looking at the auctions that just went up today I am seeing new ones pop up in the listing. As of 10:45pm on 3/17/19 there are 30 auctions now listed from that seller.
Heads up, he's listed 6 new MOC ponies. Baby softsteps, cloud dreamer, baby sweetsteps, pina colada, mainsail and Tootie tails.
Tux n Tails plus Mommy and Baby's returned, as well as first tooth baby bouncy and dance n prance twirler.
Dance n prance player added.
PROM QUEEN PRETTY BELLE AND SWEET SUNDROP LISTED their shipping is over $100 AUD though.
Ebays system for not willing to ship internationally as a US seller is incredibly complicated, so I'm not surprised some have gotten through. They do NOT make it easy! In fact I would swear they make it more complicated! I have to go over my auctions with a fine tooth comb, I have my preferences set with an exclusion list and yet somehow people have still managed to buy from me internationally...So I'm not surprised by his frustration, and like you I actually lean toward sympathizing with him overall for this and several other reasons....Still, he could handle his wording a little nicer, but I kinda understand where he's coming from if I'm being honest...
I think that international would appear in the list of rules if it were actively being blocked. He also said he wasn't going to use GSP again. Two of his auctions have it but the rest don't. Maybe he doesn't know how to add other shipping options if he doesn't usually ship overseas. If he wasn't willing to do that the time zone comment seems redundant. (Giving a clue as to what time zone he is in would help with the Googling though).

Hey friends
Does anybody know the dimensions of a boxed Prom Queen Sweetheart sister's box?
Pretty Belle and Sweet Sundrop together results in $200+ for the shipping or $100+ combined isn't really economical, especially with the possibility of paying import fees because perfume.
OIC, Well I'm glad he is willing to ship internationally for our fans...
The seller made it clear to me that he was willing to ship internationally and that he was going to turn off GSP on the next round of auctions in order to do so without the risk of damage to the items. That's what he told me.
I am not personally a fan of own country only shipping but at the end of the day it's the seller's profit that gets the hit, so it's not really my problem. So long as it isn't coupled with the excuse that "foreigners are bad", which so commonly comes up as an excuse, it's really too much bother to concern over.
What I was suggesting was that he didn't know how to turn on normal shipping options since GSP I think is default often on US auctions. And of course international people will still be able to bid because you can't shut off your items from being seen, even if you don't want to ship overseas. Like I said before, it is literally a matter of changing the url.

For me personally it is most certainly not a matter of having an attitude of "foreign people are bad" (I have plenty of overseas friends whom I will and have shipped for), Its the hassle of customs forms, the prohibitive cost and the time wasters. For example, when I have agreed to ship overseas in the past, gone to the trouble of getting a quote, only to come back with the rate and get told "nevermind" or simply not get paid. There's just too many factors that make it not worth my time and trouble. Couple that with what is arguably a much worse service overall (USPS after all is not known for its cooperative attitude in my experience) compared to the services available overseas, and its an easier decision to exclude, rather than open a can of proverbial worms...This is just my experience and opinion though....
I think this is probably a discussion for another thread, but basically everything you just said is what offends me about US only shipping.I'll preface this by saying I am INCREDIBLY grateful for international sellers who are willing to ship overseas to America (etc)...My collection would be so incomplete without help from foreign sellers, and that's not a notion that's lost to me.
I never understand why some US sellers believe they have to go through more hassle than anyone overseas does shipping internationally. We do all the same things, plus currency conversion as well. USPS is no more complicated or more unreliable than Royal Mail is, either. I mean, USPS has sent my ponies to Bangladesh before, and Royal Mail has sent them to China, so I'd say they're about the same really.
Also, as buyers, we pay the high shipping costs and the custom fees, so they're our problem, not yours. (Unless you falsify the custom form, of course, which is never advisable).
I can't imagine you think we never have timewasters for whom we get a quote and then they vanish? I'm sure you don't. And the most trouble I've had over the years, buying and selling, has been with the US. But I tend to assume that's because I have done SO MANY transactions with the US that you're going to get some bad ones. So I just ignore it and move on.
If I do something terrible as a buyer, I expect to be slighted for it. But I don't expect to be slighted because someone in France or Spain or Italy (not even my country!) did something annoying two years ago :/
If someone told you they wouldn't ship to you because they had some hassle calculating shipping to someone in Canada or Mexico you'd probably be aggrieved.
We've ALL had bad experiences at some point but it's way better to judge on behaviour of the individual and not generalise on location.
Next time you buy from overseas, stop and think about the hassle to which your seller is going. You know you're not a timewaster (and so do I!), so you probably assume it's all fine and doesn't count. But the thing is, I also know I'm not a timewaster. I have 20 years of ebay feedback and also feedback here that proves it. Yet some people choose not to ship to me because of my location, not because of my reputation as a buyer, because people like me are 'hassle'.
You wouldn't want to be treated like that...but that's how it is for the rest of us when a seller decides all foreign people are not worth going the extra mile for because one was a waste of time.
So yeah. If you don't want to ship internationally then just don't do it. It's absolutely your choice where you ship to. Just don't make it about overseas hassle and past timewasters, because that's offensive. As a buyer it's easier to accept a US only seller who just doesn't want to ship overseas, rather than one who's blaming all of us for the actions of a few.
Well said. I get why some people don't want to buy from overseas and it is just a matter of costs. Used to pay less for shipping if the pony stays in the country. As it has been said if there was not for us sellers and Canadian ones my collection would be very tiny. I had to send a pony this week to the US, fill forms and pay the shipment and it was a bummer yes. But I do it happy because I know the pony I sold is going to a good home. And it is not the first time I have sent ponies to the US. Then again eBay is not very easy with all the procedures for listing. And unless you make a draft to use all the time it can be time wasting. I get that if you list 30 ponies it can consume a lot of time. I did it and it was booooooring. Anyways. Those ponies are great but wayyyyy out of my reach.OIC, Well I'm glad he is willing to ship internationally for our fans...

Except I've heard stories where toy perfume has been destroyed and/or stopped and never delivered. Customs doesn't always take the time to determine if something is "real" or not. Some kids toys are packaged with "real" perfume, after all (which is what the MLP box claims as well, very boldly on the front)
And I made my comment because:especially with the possibility of paying import fees because perfume.
If something is that noticeable and not kind of hidden, then it'll get noticed by customs, and won't get through past the US.

That's one of my biggest fears, and I'm afraid to ask the dude to remove it incase he freaks out (if I win Sweet Sundrop)
But if worst comes to worst I can pass up on them, the other sweetheart sisters come without perfume so I can bid on them and both bride ponies come without perfume as well.
Re the perfume, that's interesting. I have ChaCHa, like I said. She came from America. I bought her maybe 10 years ago? She's MIB. She still has her perfume. She came through customs just fine. So I never thought of it as a problem.
And what about nail polish? My UK boxed Star Gleamer has nail polish in her package. She's a UK packaged pony but she came from Canada. Again, customs weren't remotely interested in her. Is it a symptom of any particular country that these things get rigorously checked?
As a MIP collector I obviously have big issues with someone opening a package to remove something, whether it be the seller, the buyer or the customs officials. I have thought of trying to track down others from this set MIB but if there's likely to be an issue I won't bother. I'd rather not have them than see MIB ponies that are already scarce desecrated, but that's me.
If the nail polish you want to mail is flammable, you are responsible for knowing its flashpoint and toxicity. Flammable nail polishes may be mailed if they are a consumer commodity. Some nail polishes may only be sent by ground transportation and may not be shipped internationally.
I think the key is that the custom person may or may not take the time to be like "yeah this doesn't have any harmful chemicals". They might just be the type to be like "Nope" and trash it.

I agree. It's going to be a roll of the dice. I don't think emptying out the perfume bottle or even removing it really provides much protection when the package is screaming "CONTAINS REEEEEAL PERFUUUUME". Like, how does the customs worker know the perfume isn't hidden behind the backflap of the box? How would they know it's already removed?
@heftysmurf, I understand your perspective now. I am fine with anyone not wanting to ship abroad because you personally don't want to. It's up to you. I just resent when the hassle word comes into it because I've had so many people be really rude about me being outside the US over the years.I'm glad we cleared that up :D I think I am getting old too, but I'm sure you have comparably LOADS more experience than me selling, especially when it comes to ponies. I will admit that I get easily overwhelmed by forms and procedures, its part of my anxiety issues, so I try to avoid extra complications at all costs...In any case like I said I do my best when it comes to other close-knit communities and friends for shipping overseas, its random ebay strangers that I'm not keen to go out of my way for...
For the record, this applies to UK only sellers, too - I hold them in the same contempt when they make the same excuses.
As for hassle, hassle is having to have an item shipped to a friend and pay double shipping because the original seller won't ship abroad :/ It happened with a pony recently - the one that went to Bangladesh and Dubai over Christmas - and it basically cost me 2x the pony cost to get her to me and took almost 4 months. That's hassle. And the GSP? That's also hassle.
In any case, all of it is easier now because you can do so much online. When I started I had to wait for people to send me $US - in CASH, argue with them when they sent me a MO that I couldn't cash, and entirely deal in an alien currency at high risk to transact overseas. As a result going to PO, signing a form and sending a pony after receiving a paypal payment seems pretty easy ;)
...Maybe I'm just getting old...
Edit edit: they cancelled their Goldilocks auction :/ I was in the lead.

I took a look at their listings and they cancelled... a lot of them. Wonder why?
Edit: Upon clicking "completed listings" on their page to view them, I think they deleted just all of the ones with the rules on what would get people blocked. Maybe they plan on relisting them without that description. Can you not just edit eBay descriptions?

Maybe people were complaining about it? Or the original seller (the one who bought the unit) didn't like how he was sounding? Or maybe he's in a much more clear state of mind and regrets writing it like that? Or maybe there were too many faker bidders so they cancelled to start a fresh and block the fakers?
Edit: yeah, that sounds plausible.
I just don't have access to my computer atm, the on/off button is stuck so I have to go through some hoops.
I've messaged UPS about it since they ship to Australia, and on the prohibited items Australia it doesn't seem to mention perfume. So I'm hoping if she can get pass the US border control, she might have an easier time here.
Edit: if I'm understanding correctly, UPS can ship perfume if it has no alcohol in it? Does anyone know if the Prom Queen's perfume has alcohol in it?
I'm sure they got taken down because of the threat to post people's addresses. Quite against TOS.I just don't have access to my computer atm, the on/off button is stuck so I have to go through some hoops.

I saw that too! I actually messaged him to let him know that he might want to include her name in his listing (and explained that she's super rare and sought after). Either way, she's going to sell for a ridiculous amount I'm sure.

Although actually I don't like things mint in bag. Cards are pretty. SO are boxes. Bags are annoying. So I'll just remind myself that she's so sealed and thus I really am NOT interested.
I'm not very interested in mint in bag ponies, either. They're kinda ugly? While on the other hand, boxes and cards are just so beautiful...
As pretty as these all are, I don't think I could ever bring myself to buy any original G1s still in the box. Partially because of the price but mostly because I wouldn't be able to stand them being trapped in there and I would have to free them. So it's just better if I don't. :P
I've never seen anything like this O_O Is someone keeping track of what ones are were there? Or is this actually the whole set?
I might want to bid, but I live in Canada and the shipping is crazy. I would want to email about that, but I might get banned?
It really highlights how few there were,, in comparison to the quantities of toys now...
Mail Order Mommy and Baby pony are almost $1000 now and the Soft Sleepy Newborns between $400-$500 each.

Has anyone looked at MIP Satin n Lace? Description says no discolorations, but in the photos she looks full of possible regrind. Is it just me? I'm curious of others opinions because Satin is my army pony, and I'm trying to decide if I want to bid on this MIBag one. Or, since my birthday is next month, if anyone wants to get her for me that'd be super nice. (Just kidding)

Thank you guys, I apreciate your help.
I will say, seeing this one, I'm worried about my army. A year or more ago I posted about how one of my perfect Satin's came out of storage, and she now had this neon pink zit on her body that wasn't there before. Will time and age eventually ruin all my lovely Satins?
the soft sleepy newborns went insane. I don't think those are real prices. I got outbid at $800 on the last one i needed :(
The next lot finished for $23,045.46 bringing the total to a little over $47k!
But did some of the pony friends go missing? I can't see them in the completed listings at all even going through the US site. There was definitely a Cha Cha, Cutesaurus and Oakley. I'm also missing MO Sprinkles.

Yes, you’re right, but they aren’t always showing up in completed listings for some reason.
Cha Cha went for 196.50

I have noticed that a few copycat listings are popping up, using the images from this seller. All are Chinese sellers, buy it now and free shipping. With 0 ratings and no other items for sale. And ridiculously low prices. Just be careful.she's the second one i've seen personally - and i've not heard of many more from what i can remember.
Rapunzel went for crazy money... some people don't even earn that in a year in SA, with our exchange rate it comes to over R90,000. Are there other MIB Rapunzels around, or is she The Only One?
Did I miss something special about Sprinkles? Is she so rare MIB that the price is reasonable for her?how much did she go for in the end? (wait, just looked up) MO being she's just bagged, right? i guess theres the curiousity of bagged sprinkles...
Ponyfan
Mo Sprinkles is pink. Like Firefly. She doesn't show up much.
I have seen a few MIP punzies before. But she has the same status quality as Mimic which puts up her price generally.
Friends, do you think the previous owner may have some previously unseen prototypes? Or errors?
I personally believe the person was employed by Hasbro in some way, idk exactly what way but a way.
Of course, if it's an online collector, then there's no precluding them having stuff. But as yet we've seen nothing not American.
Honestly, you'd have a better chance of winning them if you didn't post about them.
Like I realize it's exciting for the community to see what's there, but every auction can only have one winner, you know what I mean? I once found an auction for a Takara prototype (not on eBay) and you can bet I clutched that information close to my chest and stayed quiet as a monk who'd taken a vow of silence. (Though I suppose in this case posting about the auctions probably doesn't make too much of a difference in this case because the storage unit lot is already so highly publicized.)
The missing ponies are showing up for me again too. So new second round total is $24,798.49. $48,394 so far in total!

Yeah, I understand, I just like telling people about them but thank you regardless.

I think it's actually borderline breaking the rules to post about them in such specific detail. It's just that this is such an exceptional circumstance that even if you didn't post about it, we'd all still know and be discussing the event somehow.
But as I mentioned before, the posting link rule happened so that we didn't create bad feeling by advertising auctions someone else was watching. Posting the seller, the item name/how to find it is basically the same thing as that. I don't know officially these days if that is against the rules too, I only know the links are - but it's better not to post that kind of detail in general, just as a rule of thumb. This seller, as I said, it's kind of an exception and not discussing it probably isn't going to stop them selling high. But you can also see from the attention and discussion on those auctions the impact it has on price as well.
We've all had a situation whereby we've found something hidden and then someone's posted about it on a forum to 'help people' looking for it. That then annoyed people who were watching that auction because it made it go higher and often was settled by whoever was richest. This is especially an issue with hidden items because it stops being hidden.
A week or so ago there was a lot with MO mum and baby in unmarked in the title. I don't know how high it sold, but even though I know people here are probably looking for them, I would never have posted about it on here, because I don't know how many people here are watching it hoping they might finally be able to afford a rare pony without breaking the bank. (I don't know if anyone here won it, if they did, congrats). I have also had my fair share of hidden auction wins...knowing that this is a community where those won't be posted or signposted by other members is hugely reassuring.
To sum up, it's generally wise to steer away from talking in specifics about live auctions. I admit some of the specifics being posted about auctions (not just these) lately make me uncomfortable. I'm not looking for any of the ponies being mentioned, or I know I can't afford them - but if I was, or I did, I'd be upset that they were being pointed out so someone else could hike the price.
It seems pretty normal for people to mention seller names, or whole auction titles, or describing in a way to easily find.. as in, people have been getting around the "no link" rule for YEARS.
:) OP even mentioned they weren't sure if it was ok to post the seller in the original post. No one said "take it down" then. I actually think it's ok?
Although what I think LadyMoondancer is saying -- is for your OWN benefit, people keep quiet about who they bid on as a strategic plan to not bring hype to a listing.Yes, she is.

It's already been said that this is an exceptional circumstance.
I think this thread is fine, I just wanted to point out that if the circumstances were different--like if a seller only listed ONE rare pony and it was mislabeled (say a Rapunzel with the listing title of "Fairy horse queen" and they put it in the wrong eBay category)--then, in THAT case, a thread like this would be a faux pas. The people who were already watching the auction (and I guarantee, SOMEONE spotted it) would be resentful as they watched their hidden gem shoot up to "typical" Rapunzel prices. (Which is why live links were banned from the mailing lists and later the various forums.)
I mean, maybe the OP wouldn't have done that anyway, in which case I apologize for my assumption. I just thought it was worth bringing up.

Oh my! Thank you for giving the links! I'm glad it's not Prom Queen Cha Cha (I'd be so sad if I'd miss her entirely)
It's interesting how some of these sets are now getting broken up. I am sure they would do better all sold at the same time.

I'm wondering if by the end of this the average prices will be lower. Just in general, it seems like most people don't have money saved up for lots of big purchases and/or don't want to spend $$$ money on ponies.
Any idea who this “prince” pony is they keep mentioning in their listings??

Man, I feel really bad for that MIB purple princess he listed. Her poor nose is smushed from how the person who owned the storage unit beforehand had stored the ponies all piled up....
I'm wondering if this "prince" is Baby Lucky? He has a bow tie and kinda looks like a prince, if Rapunzel is a queen...

I've never seen a pony nose smooshed like that either. I've noticed a lot of the boxes this time aren't as pristine as the first ones we saw.
I just saw my one and only childhood Dream Beauty Song Rider. I wish I could bid on her.

Am weirdly amused by the photos of purple princess and the helpful biro.

Not Misty. The eyelash princess :)
OMG these photos. This person cared about their collection very much. So organized and careful.
I wonder where the collector is? Did they stop paying their storage fees because they got sick? Died? Do they know what happened? Are they a member of the pony community? It makes me anxious!!!
Someone on a facebook group contacted the seller and it appears the original owner has died.I didn't realize that. How sad! :(
Someone on a facebook group contacted the seller and it appears the original owner has died.
On the organization - that was done by the person who bought the storage, or the guy selling them, or something. They were not like this when the unit was bought. They were in cardboard boxes stacked on top of one another, which resulted in some boxes being damaged as you can see in some of the eBay listings (particularly with the purple eyelash princess where it damaged the pony too). You can see how they were stored originally in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=7Z3nc8oD13c&app=desktop
Two minutes in they cut to how these were in there originally. It wasn't only ponies in here either. There were also comics, and Transformers, some other stuff too.
Wow, looking at the video I'm surprised how carelessly the storage unit owner had tossed all these MOC ponies into those huge cardboard boxes! I wonder if the owner of the storage unit wasn't the original owner either? Like maybe they bought them at an estate sale or something and just chucked them into the storage unit because they didn't know what they were worth? Or maybe their parent collected them and passed away?
So the storage facility sold the contents of the unit to the highest bidder like in "storage wars"...

ironically, the dude who was doing the video... is on that show. -_-
Well princess ponies went just out of budget
Anyone here get these lovely girls?
Or perhaps have a Pristina MIB to sell?
It looks like whoever won the MIB Satin and Lace with all of the regrind spots was unhappy as there is one feedback mentioning "several spots of discoloration even though item was sealed"
Even though I can't bid on anything I'm enjoying seeing everything look so perfect MIB/MOC.

Haha, and I'm fairly certain being sealed is what led to there being so many regrind spots! I'm surprised they didn't notice because... it's pretty obvious she has tons of regrind from the images on the auction.
I took a look at the latest items on Ebay. Princess Sparkle/Amethyst's box looks really crushed and the pony looks like she has shifted slightly from where she should be.
I love those MOC baby sea ponies. :lovey:

aah paradise. ;_; *grabby*
It's interesting that "prince" is a BiN.

Are you referring to her being at an angle and not straight like the other princess ponies? All of the Sparkles I’ve seen are like that. Guessing it has to do with her horn and fitting in the packaging. I never got why she was at an angle but Misty wasn’t.
I'm so confused. I can't find the 'Prince' listing anywhere? Even on completed items?
I wonder if they had two or if the previous high bidder flaked. I feel like there were some bid abuses that wound the seller up in the first round of bidding, so maybe that's what happened.

At this point I really don't see a logical explanation for how this person collected all this other than a time machine.

It's pretty likely they were collected when they were in the stores. Most of them have TRU price tags, but some of the other ones have other tags that seem local to the SoCal area. OG collector.

Aaaaand apparently humour/sarcasm doesn't always come across well on a keyboard. Because obviously, time machines don't exist.
Would be cool if they did though! First stop: 1981
I'm not patient enough to go back to 1981 and wait for MLP to appear in late 1982-3...
I found it by searching "My Little Pony Prince" for Sold listings. :)

Well, yeah, obviously it's going to vary, that goes without saying. But I was thinking more in terms of how certain types of stuff gets attention over others when dealing with this kind of thing. The idea of "respectable" stuff and "ponies"...if that makes sense? I don't watch Storage Wars but it just occurred to me that they probably didn't expect 70k from a bunch of toy ponies.
It sounded like the person who bought the locker sold the ponies and some other things to the person who's selling them now. So it's unlikely they'll be featured on any kind of storage wars programme at all.
I don't think so - there were playsets and loose ponies in outfits too.
My guess is they need a break before they continue!

Yeah, I was gonna say there were loose items. Although it's just as possible they sold them in a job lot to someone else locally.
Some buyers have stories on facebook. Some have arrived damaged due to poor packaging. Cracked bubbles, folded cards and too small boxes. Part of it was down to the global shipping service but they dropped that after the first lot of auctions. Later ones have also had a few problems. They aren't toy collectors but they could take some time and expense to make sure the items are packaged carefully.

That's sad. I wonder if that's why Global Shipping disappeared off the options after the first round except for some bagged items. When I asked them about international shipping at the time the first stuff got listed I did mention that GSP does that, and I wonder if they fell foul of it and decided not to risk it again. It's why, honestly, even if my most wanted MOC comes up on ebay, I won't use GSP - rather not have the item than receive the heartbreaking sight of one broken by neanderthal repackers trying to skim profits.
Sad that some of these, with the prices they were making, got damaged. There aren't enough surviving examples of some of these MIP items for shoddy shipping to damage them :/
Yeah that's sad to hear that paying all that money (with a lot of them finishing above market rate esp) that the buyers received damaged packages.
They added this to their listings now to cover themselves I guess "DON'T EXPECT A PERFECTLY FLAT CARD. "

Actually, since a majority, if not all those cards are damaged.. It's a fair and important statement. That's not saying he should not be properly packing them as well. And I feel like it's important to say he notes "LOOK AT THE CONDITION OF THE CARD".

No true I see your point (and he for sure should say that) but to me the intent appears differently because this statement was added after getting negative feedback for damaged by poor packing. Most of the cards/boxes he's sold have been curled, bent and/or dented and some being straight up mashed. But he never said anything about that before.
I don't think that not being a collector - not knowing the importance of card condition is an excuse. Whatever he usually sells, anything getting damaged by poor packaging or bad shipping is something he ought to know. So for me that side of it is not an excuse.
Are there really sellers out there that think the condition of the collectables' packaging doesn't effect the value?
And yeah that Cherry Treats 😱 I kinda looks like something melted into her and stained? I wouldn't pay even the 10$ starting price for herThat was my thought, it looked like something melted. o_O but I can't imagine what could even cause that. I also wouldn't want to pay $10... poor thing...
Not being a collector is not a reason to not disclose the damage on the cards and boxes. He is knowingly selling a collectable and stated he expected hundreds of dollars for each because they are MIB/MOC. Are there really sellers out there that think the condition of the collectables' packaging doesn't effect the value? This exactly was my point too.
And yeah that Cherry Treats 😱 I kinda looks like something melted into her and stained? I wouldn't pay even the 10$ starting price for herI feel so sorry for her. If I had any money I'd want to rescue her. I think melting or burn of some kind rather than mould as mould would have spread up inside the whole bubble and this is just around the edge of her face. It makes me think she was either in really direct light or, as the card isn't faded, up against some kind of heater :/
What could have happened to Cherry Treats? It looks like some kind of mold/fungus on her face?
Ponyfan
Anyone still keeping track of the total? I'm curious what ones he has left now too. I know the playsets are still there.I am sure the shipping is a huge deterrent on the playsets...

In the late 90s I saw a MOC Glory on eBay. Her bubble had yellowed--not unusual. So then I read the auction description. Wherein the seller said "I wasn't sure if the pony was still white inside the package, so I opened it. Yep, still pure white!"
I then died inside.

Apologies if this has already been said (have not had time to read the whole thread!) :P
This would be an absolute dream find for most of us here and I've been drooling over the videos and pics too :dribble:
I think this is a stark lesson for all of us. If we wish our beloved collection to be dealt with in a specific way after our death, we should make a will stating those details.
I would hope that the executors of the will would then go to some lengths to carry out our wishes. For example, in my will I have specifically requested that all my ponies go to other collectors, rather than to charity shops or just disposed of.

For the most part, donating to charity shops, or auctions, these items will trickle down to collector's hands. Collectors are the only ones who really want these things.
I hope I don't burden my family members to much if/when they have to deal with my stuff. I could care less if they toss it, sell it, donate it-- I want them to do whatever is easiest for them.

I would say my family would do so. However, I have been in those shoes (finding good homes for things after a loved one has passed). It's certainly skewed my attitude about possessions. Heck, it skewed my attitude about gifts. That's why I said-- what ever is easiest for my family. :)
I have a friend who is dealing with a record and a coin collection... I dunno. :/ The time it's taking her (over a year), and the space it's taking (a whole room)... is a lot.

Yes! Actually my grandfather had a magic collection- like original magic books, first editions, rare rare books- he was a magician and a very early member of the Magic Castle club - (which evidently was a big deal).
I'm sure the collection had value- but some of these things aren't supposed to be out of the hands of magicians- and then there is the issue of FINDING someone who wants something so rare.
Finally my parents donated the entire collection to a magician whose mind was just blown to pieces.

my great aunt was a doll collector and when she passed. my grandma and i were both set to the task of finding collectors who wanted all of these things. she had amazing dolls and hand traced patterns for sewing clothes. it was really heartbreaking for us to be unable to find collectors, we only got one self proclaimed collector to take a single trunk of them. i spent hours listing entire lots on ebay for cheap, we searched the whole county for anyone who might want some dolls.
we're still holding onto some things to see if we'll find anyone, and we've found use for the patterns and tools (very good stuff from the 50s and 60s) left behind. the whole process got me into collecting ponies, even though she didn't have any of those :P
