this is certainly a surprise to me! but I must say she's a good choice for SDCC not so much for pony fair though, hopefully they make something different!

still.. why the molded hair?! if they could style it all crazy like that for the doll why not the pony?

And just another Spike? No way these can be $50. O_O
Dj Pon-3 at least had some kind of lights and gems and was actually big.

The doll is slightly better (if she is indeed cheaper) but not something i'm really excited about.
I'm pretty dissapointed but at least i will not be dealing with any "gotte have the con pony" stress.

If the hair is pose-able I might go for the set if it shows up on Hasbro Toy Shop discounted.  That would be pretty cool.

So.... is it 50$ for the doll and then 50$ for the pony + spike, or is it 50$ for the doll, pony and spike?  If it's 50$ for all three then maybe it would be worth it.  Is this going to be the MLP fair exclusive too?  Not gonna lie, I'm pretty disappointed.

Beh, it had to be based on Power Ponies, one of the few FiM epsides I really disliked. xD

I admit that the doll looks really cool, but not really digging the pony (which makes me sad). If i had to choose, I would go for the Mane-iac doll.
So if I am understanding this correctly, it would be $80 altogether for both of them ($30 for the doll, and $50 for the pony/Spike combo)?! If that is correct, the pony/spike combo isnt worth $50 to me. Unless maybe that pony and Spike are much bigger than than they look).

Eithrr way, it's a pass for me as well. But I will admit that I like this year's exclusives better than last years.

Man.... I really just want Spike.  But if you think about it... the set is 50$ then it's like paying 25$ just for him.  I can't justify that.  I'd rather spend the money hunting down a princess dragon.

you can probably commission someone to make a Spike that is similar to that After all again that Spike mold is a reuse

Good idea!  I am pretty handy with a paint brush.  I may just try it.

While I think the character choice makes sense (given the nature of the event and the fact that this year's annual is Power Ponies)- it feels like all of the effort went into the doll and the pony was an afterthought, like someone finally realized at the last second that the brand name is still "My Little Pony". Which is rather irksome- I know there are people who collect EQG dolls, but my sense is that the collector base among both traditional fans and bronies alike is comparatively pretty low, and making a doll that's both cheaper and nicer looking than the pony isn't going to magically convert people over.

I don't mind the doll so much but the pony is kinda horrible, so I'd be interested in the doll, unless this is the fair exclusive as well? Since I got a package deal for my fair ticket I'll be getting whatever the 'pony' is. I'm a little scared this is what I'm gonna be getting as my pony. Does anyone know if this is the exclusive for the fair too? It makes me long for the days when they gave us pink ponies over and over.

Wow...those are both hideous (just my opinion of course).  I think the EQG Dolls are ugly anyways, so no big surprise I don't like this one. 

I can't fathom how the pony/spike are worth $50.
