Title: Blythe photos + discussion thread :3
Post by: Buzzingbumblebee on April 18, 2014, 06:00:06 PM
There is not enough Blythe love here so I thought I should spread the love  :lovey:.

Here's some pictures of my latest custom vampire girl. Nameless but not toothless :D. She will be getting a black alpacca scalp once I am done with her. For now she is one of the fluffiest and cutest vampires out there <3.

Feel free to post your own Blythe photos  ^.^.

I really love your vampire Blythe.

I've been interested in hunting one down but all the ones I've fallen in love with have been customs and belong to someone else.   :P

Thank you <3. Well, there are plenty custom Blythes for sale. But they are generally rather expensive, that's why I started making my own :D. You can also buy a suitable stock Blythe and have someone customize her just the way you want her ^-^.

I will post pics of my factory girl as soon as her new eyechips come and she gets matted.

Please do glory ^.^.

I'm expecting a custom blythe next week, I found her for a bargain price and she is so awesome <3, love her.

I have ordered a bunch of stuff for my Blythe addiction lately. I bought a load of Brainworm eyechips for my future projects and some clothes. I'm also trying to figure out what stock Blythe to buy next for the custom after the one that's currently in line :).

That doll is adorable! I want one of these so bad but I'd need to find one dirt cheap. :(

There are quite many cheap-ish Blythes in Mandarake, you just need to be sure to pick a normal sized Blythe, there are a lot of tiny Blythe there too. There are a lot of more expensive Blythe there also, many rare ones and so on! It's my favorite place to buy second-hand dolls, no matter the type. :)

Thank you for the tip Uninu <3. I don't know all the good places to buy Blythes so that's very helpful. They have a great selection. I found one girl I have been craving, now I need to check the funds ^-^.

I'm so glad it helped! :D

I forgot to say, I have three Blythes home. One is a full custom and two more or less so. Only one of them is ready, other two are in the middle of fixing up, poor things.

I have made the order ^-^. She's a used Strawberrys n creamy cute, and she looks as good as new, so I'm really happy <3. I fell in love when I saw her on CC-toys website, but she was rather expensive there.. She will be stunning when I customize her ^-^, well I certainly hope so.

I currently own three real Blythes, two already customized (Little Vampire Luna who was Simply Love Me above, and Simply Mango). The third, my Simply Delight is completely taken apart as I used her for making my Blythe customizing tutorial. I haven't posted it here on the arena yet. I want to do more on it first. She is next in line for plastic surgery, and she will continue to be my tutorial model :). I also have a custom Basaak I bought all done as she was cheap and gorgeous ;). And I customized a Taobao fakie girl. She is lovely <3. The custom I'm waiting for is a Factory girl. I prefer to have real Blythes, but if the customs are gorgeous enough I will not be able to resist ;). I was supposed to sell the fakie I customized. Ha, no luck on that.
Here's my girls:

Thank you <3. I certainly had a good enough reason to keep her ^-^. Soon there is rebody time. All the current girls on their stock bodies are getting small pure neemos :). At least the custom girl coming won't need a new body, she has a licca body and she looks super cute so I will keep it.

I love seeing Blythe photos!  I agree, there's not nearly enough Blythe love around here, lol.

That fluffy vampire girl is to die for (no pun intended...maybe)!

Here's my little Blythe family.  I just have 3 girls, and I'm quite happy with my little trio, though I still go look at pics of customs every once in a while.  You never know when I might NEED another.

Yeey, lots of cute Blythes <3.

The collector world is full of these horrible ;) enablers :D. And looking is dangerous, I always see something I need :P. I have no strenght to resist unless I don't see them in the first place. Except custom girls, the ones I usually love are waaay to expensive for me to be able to justify it. That's why I started doing the DIY. Thankfully I love it <3.

And that was so sweet of your hubby Vertefae <3. I hope I can find a nice man that will accept me and my hobbies (and buy me the occasional pressie ^-^). Is that a tiny little fang at the side of your Milky Robot customs mouth? That's so cute.

She does have a little fang, she's one of the monster girls.

I'm very blessed to have my husband. He's very supportive of my doll habits

Once I can figure out money conversion and such I'm definitely going to have to look into getting one of these lovelies. All of these are fairy new to me so I'm still a little lost for what to go for and such.

It's so wonderful to see more Blythe fans here! I've been in the Blythe hobby since 2004 and have had a lot of dollies come and go from my family. Here are a few photos of some of my girls:

There's a few of us here that do customs, myself and Buzzingbumblebee come to mind.

You can join Blythe Kingdom as well and look into their Salon's section http://blythekingdom.forumotion.com
This is one of my favorite customizers: http://kaleidoscopekustoms.blogspot.com

TwistedRiver- I use XE currency converter to figure out prices, http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/
If you need any help, feel free to PM me. Always happy to help out a new Blythe friend. :)

Happily Candied- Roslin Pinkinshire is hands down one of my favorite custom girls. I can never get enough pictures of her. She's so soft, sweet and whimsical and yet so devious at the same time.

http://www.blythopia.com/ is a good resource for news, and a guide to the different facemolds and releases. I also like the This is Blythe site and forum, even if it's not as popular and active as it was a few years ago. I love seeing everyone's customs! And ive always admired Happily Candied's Kozy, Plum! My family is pretty small - Tommy February 6, Asian Butterfly Encore, Miss Sally Rice, Love Mission, and Ebony. My fave is TF6 because I love the singer! Blythe dolls are cool because their so well made, and I like their mysterious facial expression.  I'm glad they're not always super smiley and cheerful.

Neat Vertefae ^-^. I like dollies with cute fangs <3.

Congrats glory78, I hope you are happy with her.

Happily Candied, you have some really lovely girls. I love Roslin Pinkinshire, the perfect spokes doll :).

The customizers I love are popular and I haven't really checked how to get a doll customized by them. Too expensive, well the customs they sell are anyway :P. It's much cheaper when I do it myself ^-^. I'm slowly going to accept custom orders.

candiedapples- I love all the different facial expressions of blythes as well, they are the perfect customizing base for me <3. I want to have a whole load of different custom blythes eventually :D.

All these pictures inspire me to go to Tuesday Morning! I have a question you guys might think is stupid... whats the connection between these Bythe dolls and the LPS Blythe doll? Was LPS Blythe named and designed after these dolls or are these bythe dolls on this thread customized LPS blythe dolls? The LPS Blythe looks similar to everyones dolls here! Just curious, still newish to a lot of doll brands.

The LPS Blythe were modeled and named after these Blythe dolls. The first Blythe dolls were produced back in the 1970's by Kenner. Most Blythe dolls these days are so called NeoBlythe produced by Takara that are modeled after the original Kenner Blythe dolls. :)

I received an email about post leaving or entering China now requiring an x-ray scan and was told this could increase the shipping time, but thanks for the estimate. I've been given a tracking number which knowing me will be checked at least two dozen times a day. XD And I've already found some clothing items I want to buy her when I get more money lol. I can already tell this is going to become an addiction.

Congrats :D, please show us some pics when she arrives <3.

My Strawberrys n creamy cute was shipped a day after I paid, I don't think it will take all that long to get her. I'm not sure as I haven't had anything shipped with DHL before. Probably a bit longer than EMS that takes like two days from Asia usually ^-^. Oh and my Simply Guava was shipped very quickly as well :D, yeey  :straw: :straw: :straw: :hearts:

Anyway.. I posted a wanted thread on Blythe Kingdom about wanting sleepy sheep Lalatroop hats, as I have no time to even try getting one :(. And I also want a Mimsy bear hat and Dolly Wardrobe dresses.

Does anybody know how to get one of those Dolly Wardrobe dresses? I can't figure out where he sells them.. And I certainly need at least one of those with stripy arms  :lovey:

I was a naughty Blythe mom. I sold my two custom gals to fund a grail purchase. I snagged a Prima Dolly Peach with her full stock for a steal. We'll a steal when it comes to limited Blythe dolls. :D

Part of one of sales included a trade for a factory girl with pink and purple hair. So now I have a totally pink Blythe family. Guess my girliness is showing lol

Blythes are one of those things I love in photos - not so much in person, for some reason? So i'm totally glad you're all here posting pictures, haha. I had a fake at one point with the intent to customize her, but it never panned out.

What, exactly, are factory dolls? I'm not... entirely clear on the definition.
Title: Re: Blythe photos + discussion thread :3
Post by: Vertefae on April 27, 2014, 12:00:08 PM
Factory dolls started out as rejected parts from the factories that we're being sold on the black market. Now they've grown to include fakes that were molded from legit dolls. There's (in my opinion) two types. The TBL which is different enough sculpt that it actually looks fake and Factory girls. Their sculpt still is extremely close to a legit doll. For all I know they are being made from takara molds. They have rather amazing scalps which has given them more of a free pass in the Blythe world than one would normally expect for knock off dolls. The quality is on par if not better than takara. The worst you might have is knees that do not bend, although that's becoming an issue with legit releases as well.

Title: Re: Blythe photos + discussion thread :3
Post by: Skitterbug on April 27, 2014, 01:05:34 PM
Aah, interesting! I sort of thought something like factory rejects, but that's a bit more interesting, I think. The fake girl I had looked legit, but her hair was pretty terrible. (though, for 25$ therabouts, would have been good custom bait)

I have a huge fascination with knockoffs of various kinds - I've had two fake pullips pass through my hands (COMPLETELY opposite ends of the quality spectrum, lol) along with a few other more expensive fakes - i've even got some monster high fakes incoming.

I bet the factory girls are really popular with customizers!

This beautiful girl arrived today and I am just amazed by her. She is even better IRL <3. Poor thing has been loose in her box during her trip, but she was still perfect, except her hair was a bit messy. She has got that factory greasy feel anyway, so she needs a hairwash. Her outfit is perfect as well. I bought her used. All her eyechips are lovely special ones so I think I might not change them. With this girl I feel a strong need to keep her as recognisable as the stock doll as I feel I can. I mean I will customize her, but only the carving, faceup and eyelids. Right now she can stay as she is. She is just stunning, even with her shiny face. I also got the clothes I ordered from Miema Dollhouse today and she looks fab in the strawberry outfit ;). I have called her Sofie as it's a name I have loved for a long time.

Cute girls Vertefae :D.

Here's a intro for my last Blythe girl arriving:
My Guava arrived and she is great. She will need a lot of work of course, but her hair is so fabulous and bright. And it's really odd but neither my Mango or my Guava had/have greasy hair straight from the box like my other girls.

Sofie: Thinking: Trying to steal my place in the spotlight or what? I just arrived myself..

I am SO excited right now! My girl arrived in the post today! If it wasn't for my sister chasing down the mailman after he'd left the 'missed you' card I'd probably have to have waited for a redelivery. She's so precious I will definitely get some pics taken later. Can I just say I've never seen anything as trapped in a box as Ambrosial was.  Do they think these girls are going to escape before they get to their new homes? I mean I had to undress her completely just to remove all the plastic and tape.
Anyway I'm going on about four hours sleep and running on adrenaline so I will chat with you all later  :)

BTW Vertefae, just so you know, someday. (when I can afford another girl) I'm going to have to send her your way to customize, your work is fantastic!

Not the best quality photo at all, but I slept late and it was pouring rain outside so there was no way I was taking my girl out there natural light or not.
Please excuse the wild pony mess around her, 'most' of these girls are waiting their turn for spa/restoration/customizing but it was the handiest flat surface to set Ambrosial on.

I was so torn between her and Yellow Marshmallow.  :P But I decided that seeing as Yellow Marshmallow is new while Lavender Hug has been on sites for over a year that I'll still have time to save for the other one. ^.^ I'm learning how dangerous they are, though. I really should be saving what money I have left and I'm already browsing Blythe sized pajamas. XD

Our mailbox was so bad for a while there that the postman actually brought a separate crate for packages. xD Seriously for a while there it seemed like we were getting one or two packages a day. Things have slowed down now, but I can see how Blythes and maybe someday Pullips could easily change that. XD

I'm currently making pajamas for my girl and once they are done and the sky decides to stop sobbing I'll take her outside for a photoshoot.

So I finished Ambrosia's pajamas. :) Everything was hand sewn (with the exception of the striped leggings which I ordered at the same time as Ambrosial) since we don't currently have a machine and I have terrible luck with them anyway. xD For the most part my patterns were sort of just made up as I went other than the skirt part of her sleep dress.
Love some feedback on them. :)

Hey all.  I'm very very new to Blythe dolls... but I might have accidentally ordered a Lavender Hug doll after my sister TwistedRiver's Ambrosial arrived. Blame my mom, she helped with the cost.
Yay! Enjoy your new girl! Lavender Hug is cute and unique - I like her bangs a lot, and her pink hair, and I don't own any girls with her facemold yet.

Quite a bit late in saying so, but Lavender arrived last week!
I'm not entirely sure if I'm keeping her name but I haven't been able to decide on anything else, so I'm just calling her Lavender for now. ^_^

Not long after she was ordered I start searching for alternate outfits... I didn't want her trapped in that winter coat all year. I finally picked out some comfy looking Totoro clothes on Etsy and they arrived today. ^o^ I hope to buy a pair of Totoro slippers for her I saw on there after next payday.

Anyway, a short while ago I had the sudden urge to take pictures... bear in mind the sun is getting close to setting and I know very little about cameras. xD

Unfortunately after her photoshoot outside I noticed that she'd gotten a teensy tiny stain on her upper leg... I don't think it was there before and I suspect it's pollen or something of that sort. It's hardly noticeable unless pointed out in person but I still feel so bad... I tried washing it carefully to no luck.

Mallow is precious! I know she is hopefully going to be joining our household sometime soon. Hannah was torn between her and Lavender and chose Lavender in the end.
I will probably be getting Mandy CottonCandy when I can save up enough to allow myself to spend that much on another Blythe.
If you do get her please post lots of pics. :)

Soo, I'm very new to Blythe, but I'm very interested in getting into them! I've been searching EBay and Etsy religiously, but I'm having a really hard time finding custom girls that fit my fancy in the US as I can only buy from in the states. Anyone have good places to find custom girlies? Thanks!(:
Title: Re: Blythe photos + discussion thread :3
Post by: TwistedRiver on May 26, 2014, 09:25:11 PM
A lot of that is going to depend on what you're willing to spend since most of the well done customs I've seen have not been cheap. It might not hurt to look around DeviantArt and see if any there strike your fancy and find out if their creators do commissions or not. To get a custom that looks just "perfect" for you odds are you are going to want to commission one, otherwise as far as I've seen places like ebay and etsy are probably your best bet.

Buzzingbumblebee
Your girls are adorable! I want more Blythes darn it! xD I have so many that I've seen that I would love to adopt but I'm afraid Ambrosia has taken pretty much all my spending money for a while.

Hey all.  ^.^ I'm still extremely new to Blythes so I know very little about them and I was hoping someone could give me information about the Blythe seen in the photos for this listing for a Blythe-sized beanbag chair. https://www.etsy.com/listing/184385210/blythe-bean-bag-faux-fur-creamy-white?ref=shop_home_active_1 (https://www.etsy.com/listing/184385210/blythe-bean-bag-faux-fur-creamy-white?ref=shop_home_active_1)
In some of the photos it shows that the doll possibly has poseable legs and moveable hands? Are there actually Blythes like that or was it a Blythe head on a different body? (viewing the zoom on the photo of the Blythe cuddling with a pillow shows what I'm talking about)

Hopefully this makes sense. XD

Thanks for that link, I've wondered how much a pure neemo body would be.  I've thought about getting one for Anna Lee, but I wasn't sure what they cost.   I'm too terrified to remove her head though, lol.  It looks a bit more difficult than Obitsuing a Pullip.

Falling for SBLs hard lately. This girl was a super cheap score from a dolly friend. And now I have a MIB Lounging Lovely on the way. She even has her record player! Back to the heyday 9f blythe. Amazing stock overstuffed into the boxes and real panties!

Velvet Minute has joined the ranks of the Dolly Hostel. That blue eyeshadow is SO totally 80s and may need to disappear soonish. but for the time being she's a cute little face.

Abut a month ago, I traded my last blythe and all my blythe clothes for a pukifee. I was tired of the blythe drama and well to be honest all the new releases have been so disappointing for me. The plastic has gotten so thin, the hair was so knotted. And let's not mention the embarrassment that has been panties lately. Needless to say I figured I was done with blythes until a kenner fell into my lap. I left all but one or two of the blythe facebook groups.

As I think most of you gals know I has knee surgery Monday. I had been looking about for a blythe body to use as a sewing model when a sweet girl caught my eye. One of those dolls that sink into your heart. The seller said she was open to trades. But I didn't really have anything price wise that matched the beautiful blythe. I messaged her anyways and amazingly enough she was very interested in a recast bjd I had been gifted.

Thanks to the super fast post office (when does that ever happen?!) I received a box today. Please meet Herbie. She's a SBL custom by Moofers  (Chantilly Lace). She's not my first high end custom but she's by far my most favorite custom I've ever brought home. I was looking for a doll to inspire me, she fits the bill.

My second blythe was one of those unique dolls that I could sit and sew and design for days for. I haven't felt this type of connection since then. Not for a blythe anyways.

For your first blythe I would buy from either the Junie Moon Shop or CCT. Then you're guaranteed to get a legit doll. Most dolls on ebay are fakes.

http://cc-toys.com.hk/index.php

http://www.juniemoonshop.com/

There's nothing terribly wrong with the fakes but for your first blythe, they should be a doll that's special.

Congrats on getting your new girl Vertefae <3. She is very sweet. I hope you post more pics of her ^-^. I am so glad you found a girl that inspires you. I don't have any high end customs (except my own that are high end in my mind, lol :P), but I would like some. What I want the most is a Vainilladolly custom, a Gbaby custom and a Mariukadolls custom. I'm guessing commissions are expensive to get from all of them ;). I contacted Olga regarding a commission for a Vainilladolly, I'm hoping it will be possible, dreading to find about the price. I just really crave some girls by other customisers now. I don't feel the same need to keep all the ones I make anymore, which is good of course ;).

I'm hoping to upscale my customising as I don't want to carry on as a nurse anymore. The nursing is just no good when I'm on my own with two kids. Well I won't be forever but still, why not have a go at doing what I love along with a more family friendly job on the side ;).

@Miss Violet
I agree on the above shops if you want a real Blythe. I prefer real Blythes myself though, I have some lovely fake custom girls. But if you actually want a fake to practise customising on, a quick search for factory Blythe on ebay will give you endless heaps of fakies to choose from ;). They are cheaper to buy from Aliexpress though.

I'd say your girls are very much well on their way!

I love vanilladollies, she has such sweet girls. I've had two Melly Kay dolls. I adored both of them. But they cost so much I was to scared to do anything with them.

I'm going to try to sew some today. I'm sore from yesterday so we will see :)

Thank you <3. I will do my best ^-^. I hope to provide people with something special, since I live in Norway it will have to be ;). I will also work on my dressmaking. I want to sell every girl with her own dress. I'm also thinking I want to figure out how to make bloomers. My middie Pixie Peaceful came with bloomers and I love that ;).

I think the vainilladolly girls have something special, I love everything about them, and those swirls on the eyelids are so cute. *swoon*. I hope she will get back to me, as I think getting one second hand might not be so easy either. I'm sure she has a commission list so I will have time to save up for it.

Oh yes I have seen Melly Kays work, they look completely blemish free and divine. I don't think I would let the price stop me too much from playing with any doll. I have a some pricy BJD's and I still play with them, I'm careful with all my dolls though. I'm more worried about breaking Pullip limbs than any of my BJD's actually :P, they are so flimsy.

Look forward to see what you sew ^-^.

She looks like she is happy vertefae ^-^.

I had these to arrive today :D. I have wanted a Cadence since she was released so I'm happy to finally have her, she is just as lovely as I thought she would be. I thought she would be paler, but she is wonderful as is ;). I hope to have her sent away to get customised. If I don't get a Regina Erwen then I'm hoping to send Cadence to vainilladolly. If I get a reply *sigh*. Obsessed am I :P. Anyway, Country Summer is also very pretty, but my plan for her has from the start been to customise and sell her. Got to keep telling myself just that ;).

Still waiting for Les Jeunette, soon I guess since release is today. Bah, I don't get e-mails from Junie Moon about shipping so I don't know if she has been sent though. Next time I'm using my iphone e-mail.. I also bought another Cinnamon girl and middie Nana's little lass to help out a friend. So now I will have two Cinnamon Girls to reroot and customise (their stock hair is not nice). Better get on with the work. I'm going to a alpaca farm locally next week to buy some black and some white alpaca fiber if it's long enough. I'm thinking of trying to dye the white alpaca. I want the girl I'm keeping to have teal hair if possible.

Thank you :). I'm glad I was lucky enough to get her because for some reason she is not in stock anywhere. I thought Les Jeunette was a regular release so I'm confused.

I'm thinking I need the new girl ;). She looks lovely. I'm happy they are making more tan girls.

I remember seeing a picture of a Blythe wearing a Space Invaders dress... who had that? I'd love to get one of those dresses.

Also wanted to share this! TwistedRiver and I commissioned one of our favorite artists to draw our girls and here's mine.

I like the looks of the new tan girl, but I'm afraid her hair will be a hot mess like all the other new releases I've got in the past couple of years. It's so sad when the quality of fakes beat the quality of the Takara girls. I'm looking for a new scalp & dome for my Simply Love Me, as mine had part of her dome crushed when I remover her from her box. I bought her MIB, too! So disappointed.

Well if one of my stock girls has bad hair I think it's a awesome oppertunity to reroot the girl with some lovely alpaca fiber :D. I love love love alpaca reroots and I don't think it's as gruesome to do as it was to start with.

Because I feel ill and miserable from a cold today, and because I got paid ;), I bought a Marrakech Melange :D. I love that teal hair so much and couldn't resist one that someone in France was selling. I don't get to buy from Europe very often so that's always a bonus :). I will however need to sell her stock because I really don't like it, I just hope someone else will want it :). So shout out if interested in her stock ;).

I'm not sure if she comes with tights, but I will try selling the stock complete and for a fairly cheap price ;).

I'm excited, I have wanted a teal haired girl for a while :D.

Post by: Buzzingbumblebee on June 14, 2015, 12:32:45 PM
I know I will :D. I have looked at all the pics I could find of her out of that stock outfit ^-^. She will be amazing once customised. It's a shame you don't get along with the rbl+, but I suppose Princess a la mode would be a good replacement? She is probably expensive I guess though. Doesn't look like they have any plans on a new mold yet unfortunately, wish they would make thicker faceplates.. A few more FBL's would be nice though, I like their look as well even though I don't have any yet. Hope to pick up a couple of cheap ones at some point.

Gorgeous! Is that the translucent plastic/skin? It's lovely.

I'd love to try my hands at customizing a blythe someday, I think. Maybe when my money situation is a bit better I'll pick up another factory girl to try.
Title: Re: Blythe photos + discussion thread :3

I couldn't customize Regina. Especially being a limited. Plus she's so pretty just as is!
Title: Re: Blythe photos + discussion thread :3
Post by: Buzzingbumblebee on June 24, 2015, 08:40:29 AM
Yes she is translucent, it's so lovely. I don't have any other translucent girls, except I would say my Strawberry n' creamy cute is a bit translucent :).

And customising is fun so have a go if you think you will like it Skitterbug :).

I might feel a bit bad for customising her, but that scratch and a couple of small black spots on her face make it ok for me. Plus I don't have her stock. And all the translucent girls are limited, so the only other option would be a fake, and I don't want any more of those. I don't think I would ruin her if I did her myself of course, but I really want to have her customised by a famous customiser. I want to reserve my limited girls for that ;). And I have heard that the matte treatment they gave her make her harder to customise. For now, until I can hopefully get what I want for her I will just gaze correct and change 2 pairs of eyechips. I don't like foils behind eyechips on Blythes, and two of hers have that.

I've done facups on BJD before so I'm relatively confident I can produce a cute blythe doll.... I'd like to try carving someday, too!

My girl has shipped out! Now the real waiting begins. I bet her clothes will get here before she does :P I spent a little more than I planned to on clothes but they seem to be official blythe stuff. Western Romantic? Romantic Western? It's purple and that's what matters, haha.

That translucent skin is GORGEOUS...I need one of those girls.  I only have one Blythe at the moment-I've discovered I'm very picky with them, lol.  But I'd definitely cave for a beauty like that.
Title: Re: Blythe photos + discussion thread :3
Post by: Buzzingbumblebee on June 25, 2015, 12:41:43 PM
Thank you . She really is worth getting :D. Or one of the other translucents, but this matte face looks way better than the shiny translucent girls.

I swapped two pairs of eyechips to remove those foiled eyechips and gaze corrected her yesterday. I even managed to open her without too much trouble. RBL+ can be a bit strong on the glue between faceplates and scalp so I soaked her first with a good result :).
I just had to do this as I want to save her for customising by some famous customiser. We shall see who I can get, but I wanted to just do this so I can enjoy her more while I wait. She might not keep the red pair when she has been customised, but I like them with her current look :).

This may be a dumb question to people knowledgeable about Blythe dolls (which I'm not, I know very little that isn't directly related to my two girls) but what are the translucent dolls and how do they differ from nontranslucent?  ^.^
Title: Re: Blythe photos + discussion thread :3
Post by: Skitterbug on June 27, 2015, 11:56:26 AM
Oh, oh, I can answer this one! The translucent doll's faceplate are made of... well, translucent plastic - it lets a little light through so it looks a bit more 'real'. If you compare Regina to the Marrakech Melange that's posted, you'll see Regina has a 'softer' skin tone, in part because she's matte, and in part because she's translucent.

(feel free to correct me if I've gotten something wrong)

edit: and I'm already planning my second blythe, please send help. I really want a custom girl and I ordered eyechips for her already eep

As for bodies, official Blythe dolls only come on one body, though people often replace the body with ones from Licca dolls (which have bendy arms and legs with wires in them) or Pure Neemo Flection bodies, which have joints.

I'm pretty sure that all the translucent dolls released have been anniversary editions, so they're harder to come by and more expensive - it's a shame, they should use the translucent plastic more!

The translucent dolls are all limited/exclusive dolls so they are more expensive. It's quite possible to find them for sale but the price might not always be so agreeable ;).

I finally found out today that vainilladolly doesn't take commissions (I'm glad to at least know now), so my only chance is to find one second hand or buy one of the nomads she sells in future on ebay or etsy. Trouble is the new ones are so expensive *cry*. I hope I will find one.

I got my new NixiPixi and Dollywardrobe collab outfit yesterday :D . It's so pretty. But my ghost doesn't look very scary in her bunny hat ;).

I have a Mandy Cotton Candy on the way. She's missing her boots, but has the rest of her stock and extra clothes. I couldn't pass her up, she was such a good deal. I need to find her boots or maybe Wendy Weekender's boots. Hmm…

I can't wait to see her!!!  *coughDIBScough*

Lol, at the new name ;).

I was contacted by someone who has 3 vainilladollys and offering them all as I posted a wanted thread for one. But I don't think any of them is right for me, blah.. The one I like best has a pink alpaca reroot as well and she said she paid 3000 Euros for her but will offer her for 2500. I don't doubt that she paid that, and that others may be willing to pay that, but I don't want to pay lots extra just because she has a reroot when I can do one myself fairly cheaply.. And it's a girl from 2012 so I don't like the carving as much as the newer ones. If I'm going to pay loads I feel it needs to be "the one" ;). I'm just annoyed that people really charge so much money for the older ones as well.. I would rather wait to be lucky and get one of the new girls she makes then.

(PS: I'm sorry I keep whining about the big vainilla grail issues :P)

Holy crap that's a lot of money. Especially if you're not completely happy with her.

Post by: Skitterbug on July 02, 2015, 04:09:39 PM
Yeah, definitely wait for the one, especially if you're going to spend that much on her! Compared to that, my grail is really modest.

I really do hope you're able to find that one perfect doll. I know how it feels getting your hands on that one amazing thing you've always wanted but never thought you could have... I hope you get to feel that someday too :)

Indeed a lot, and here I thought the earlier girls were supposed to be cheaper :P.

I will definetly not settle for any less than a girl I'm in love with ;). I know she will definetly be expensive, but I plan to sell some more of my BJD's to make up for it. I think I have too many of those now anyway, I don't have the room for them all :P. Culling tomorrow ;).

I should not complain too much, I am getting the G.Baby custom I wanted for a long time, and as it's a commission I get to choose how she will be ;). Still waiting, sigh.. It's been a few weeks, but I know I will get her in a not too distant future ^_^.

*glows with happiness* I ordered my first Blythe today. She's nude, and needs her scalp glued back on, but I am so so so excited! She was a previous custom, and I have to find clothes for her. I just-squee!- yay!!!  Here's the eBay auction I won. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201379984135?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Oh, one question: what size clothes fit Blythes? Like, Barbie, or MH, or Pullip-size?  I'm trying to prepare for my girl to get here.
Title: Re: Blythe photos + discussion thread :3
Post by: Buzzingbumblebee on July 03, 2015, 01:19:31 AM
Congrats CrystalMist :D. Great deal. I know some Pullip dresses/tops may fit, but the Blythe legs are thicker so the pants won't fit. MH clothes would be too small. But seriously just pop by etsy and you will find more Blythe clothes than you can ever buy, and in all sorts of price ranges ;). Blythes have the cutest outfits and hats there is in my opinion, so I don't bother giving them clothes from other dolls, unless I feel like using a stock dress from one of my Pullips ;).

I got my girl today! Fortunately, she came with clothes, so I can hold off on buying new clothes. She's so much bigger than I thought~ I remember the same thing with my Pullip! I'm also considering getting her a new wig- her hair photographs well, but in person it's crazy unruly. But it has charm!

She has a weft right? You should be able to wash and condition it with people conditioner. Don't brush it but use a wide tooth comb to comb the conditioner through. Form the curls with your fingers how you want them to look, then let the conditioner set over night. The next day rinse it out with cold water. Reset any curls that need it by forming with your fingers. Let her hair dry. You can also hang her upside down to dry if you want a bit of bounce with the curl. Be careful to not let the water get into her eye holes.

Wow! I didn't know I could do that. Yes, she has a weft, and due to it being summer, and me not having anything else to do, I think that I'll try it. I have it goes okay!  :P

Got two new Little Ditzies hats in the mail today, and they are so pretty. I love these hats in general, and had only one so I'm happy to have more .

I found a random twig to prop Regina up as I have envied other people's photos where they do all sorts of creative stuff. I need to take my dolls on a walk next week when the kids are back in kindergarden, and work on getting some nice photos ^_^.

Loving these pics, (especially the customs since I'm on a custom kick atm.) On that note, once the sun decides to peek over the horizon I'm gonna try and get some pics of my custom girl. She's been a learning process to be sure, but a lot of fun and I'm super proud of her. :)

I bought her on the Doll Adoption on FB. I have contacted the seller and my post office. She promised a refund if there was no update by today. My post master can't find it and he can find anything. I'm thinking the box was crushed during off load or dropped off the truck.

Oh goodness, that is heartbreaking. Hopefully she is just MIA and will surprise everyone and show up even if she takes her time doing it.

I was able to get a few pictures taken of my custom girl a little while ago. She's my first custom since I was like 16/17 so years and years ago, so please go easy on me.

She started out as this: (minus the clothing since she came nude)

Yep! She's a factory girl I got off aliexpress and some sellers sell them with pure neemo flexion bodies, which my girl has.
Title: Re: Blythe photos + discussion thread :3
Post by: TwistedRiver on July 15, 2015, 08:30:49 AM
It's a great match for her! I lucked out and was able to order a body that was a good skin match for my girl but unfortunately obitsu bodies are a little on the 'dainty' side and she has a little trouble holding her head up even with reinforcing everything.
May have to look into pure neemo in the future.
I'm happy for you that she did keep her make up and everything since I know you were really hoping for that.

I'm really excited for my second girl to come in - she's for customizing and I already have a beach theme all planned for her. And then.. my third girl <_< (who will in the future be customized by Buzzingbumblebee, once I have the funds!)

I think I have a problem and her name is blythe.
Title: Re: Blythe photos + discussion thread :3

I have that problem as well. xD
Just be warned aside from being highly contagious, Blythe is known to lead to other sicknesses like Pullip and Tang Kou. xD
I currently have 5 girls, three Neos, one who is a customized factory girl, one Petite and one LPS . Then I have a Pullip Isul who is currently off visiting Vertefae and being made beautiful, one Tang Kou, and one Pullip Tae Yang. And I'm pretty sure that the family is only going to get bigger. xD.

Congrats :). I'm glad you are so happy with her. Yeah some of the fakies have odd symbols in their pupils. I have two here a friend dropped off for me to customise, and both have that. One clovers, the other a big "B" in both pupils :P. It's convenient that some of the fakies come with this fake version of the pure neemo body. But I don't like the bigger chest they have, I don't like any of my dolls having big boobs ;). But it's neat that their neck piece actually fit the Blythe heads, no wobble :).

I don't think it's very common to use obitsu bodies for Blythe because the head is too heavy. Many use Licca or of course Pure Neemo bodies :).

I look forward to it Skitterbug ^_^. I'm happy that I have some commissions to do this summer, 3 dolls are already here and waiting for more to arrive.

And they are contagious, though I'm selling some Pullips because I want more Blythes instead :P.

Please do! I wasn't daring enough to try carving other than to fix a small sanding mistake on my girl, but I think down the road I'm going to have to give it a shot! I have a couple customs in mind already if I can just get the right dolls for the right price.

I call that pullcord set the 'Toybox' Set :) I have an extra ocean set, but that one's a surprise because it's for my custom girl. The green-corded set's two charms are a double sided toggle with the eiffel tower on one side and 'paris' on the other, and a little fake wristwatch, it's really cute.

I hope my sanding supplies get here soon, I'm so antsy not being able to keep working on custom stuff!!

And thank you, I'm really proud of my carving job and I'm glad to know other people like it too!

I'm excited to see how she turns out! I couldn't carve out the faces, I feel I would either mess up or get lazy halfway through and stop  :P But the carving looks good! I also love the custom pullcords, that's something I really love about Blythes.  :D

On the off note, I was going through some old boxes of toys and LPS, and I found two LPS Blythes I'd gotten while I was younger. I've apparently been unconciously collecting Blythe dolls! It was so strange that I'd completely forgot about them.  ^.^ It was like a gift from myself!

I'm so glad you're enjoying yourself :) Customizing Blythes has always been super relaxing for me.

**************

I have a soft spot for rescue dolls. The beaten up, the so loved that they're falling apart are my favorite type of girls. Thats why I've always been drawn to Kenners. Of course with a 14 month old toddler Kenners are so far out of the price range it's not even funny. And I've had the worst luck with dolls and the mail lately. However, I took a chance on a rescue Blythe. She's been in and out of the blythe community for years. No one knows who her original customizer was. But whoever it was they carved a hole straight through her mouth! Now she's an early Blythe (an EBL I believe) so this was no mean feat. They also snapped her dome right off her back plate!

Well at some point she went to PixiePoo for a repair and Ruby Gloom was born. Her mommy was selling all her blythes and leaving the hobby this summer and poor Ruby was the last to be listed. No one seemed to interested in her, everyone knew she wasn't shiny and perfect. I was smitten. Amazingly enough even with her issues the price was so low I was almost positive she had forgotten a number on the front. I only paid $65 for this darling sweetheart.

She is proof that no doll is worth giving up on as long as you're willing to give them a little love.

Thanks Barbgirl :) She has a little work to be done. New eyechips (those are the only I like) and her head needs to be stabilized on her neck better

I was able to stabilize her neck. And wow getting into her head. That poor girl. i knew the hole was bad, but the mess inside was just sad to see.

I got my new Blythe the other day!  I'm super happy with her. She's a factory custom, and I finally got around to taking pictures of her. She's wearing most of my Pullip's stock outfit for now, but it's cute on her! I'm so happy! I think this'll be my last Blythe for a while, though, unless I find a reasonably cheap Middie.
She's outside, enjoying the Colorado sunlight.

Her face looks super vibrant in pictures, oddly enough, but in person, it's not nearly as pink.

I put her with the rest of my girls, and they're just hanging out in my curio cabinet.

Some work I've got done on my neon-haired girl - she's going to have checkerboard eyelids, I think. If I can paint them well enough!

My custom's eyes have stopped changing :( I gave her sleep eyes and a gaze correction and her eyes were changing fine for a while but now when I pull, there's a softer than normal click and I open her eyes to find they haven't changed :(((

Oh no! Hopefully someone who's done more customs can jump in and give some tips for fixing them. I've only messed with eyes on my panda girl and so far they've kept working fine though I didn't do much in the way of gaze correction so unfortunately I can't be much help.

The mech still seems to work fine when her head is open... I don't know what's going on :/  edit: figured it out :) some of her eyechips weren't in all the way and are jamming up her eye mech, i think

edit: nope, not it :( The gear in her eye mech doesn't fit together quite right anymore... I can't sell her like this :( I' going to have to buy her a new eye mech and switch all the eye chips around and make new eyelid art....

I just closed her back up  But what it is is the gear on the left side, where the u shaped bar is, the teeth of the two gears there don't interlock properly. I can get some pictures tommorow.

Here but been busy with RL so been mostly absent from forums and the like.
Jane is lovely! I'm loving the outfit in the second pic you posted of her (especially the hat) but the long dress looks stunning as well.

Congrats on Jane Ficklefae :D. I have noticed you got her of course ;). She is awesome with her hair fixed so well. And I never realised her stock outfit was so nice. Reminds me of the costume dramas I'm so fond of ;).

Sorry I have been terribly busy with school so forums haven't been a priority. But I do a little work here and there with the Blythes. I am almost ready to sell the Cinnamon Girl. I won't be doing any more reroots for sale for a long while, that's for sure :P.
And I have a plan for making a female version of Link from The Legend of Zelda games including a outfit made by my friend :D. Really excited about it, though I might not be able to get her done for a while. Depends when her outfit will be ready as well.

Thank you sweetie :) her stock is gorgeous. Very well made and the outer dress is much heavier than I would have thought.

I've missed seeing you around. I totally understand the busy all the time though. Link sounds adorable!

Thank you ^_^. Cinnamon is gorgeous, I wish I could keep her but I need the money more ;). I'm on the last row of her reroot, and I will force myself to finish it tomorrow!!  I'm so not happy two of my planned future projects will need reroots as well :P. Both of those are for myself. I'm thinking I should get someone else to do one of them, or it will take forever. One is based on a character from a series of books I love. Her hair needs to be dyed fiery red :D. And I don't have the skills for that anyway ;).

Sully short for Sullivan came home on Wednesday :D. That was the name her previous owner gave her, and I like it ^_^. So happy to finally have my grail, a vainilladolly custom . I have swapped two pairs of eyechips on her today. Swapped Brainworm eyechips for Puppelina eyechips. I have a few pairs saved for special girls ;). I love her so much!

This thread is starting to disappear. :(
Gotta breathe some new life in.
Though its like five months late in coming I finally got pics of my first and only Middie Mary Anne that Hannah gave me for Christmas. Wearing her new outfit my mom gave her for my birthday with some socks I found on etsy that matched surprisingly well and a handbag that she stole from a EAH Goldie that is being customized to be Alice from Alice in Wonderland.
Here's a few pics from her photoshoot.

I am in love with her!

Here's another with her bestie Lo (Hannah's Yellow Marshmallow)

I am dying to have a Middie one day! I think Twinkle Princess, Melomelomew, and Macaron are at the top of my list.

I do have a question for you all on this thread though. I'm fairly new to the Blythe world and customizing, but I'm really curious as to people's travel practices with their girls. Do you take them on outings with you? Do you carry them in your bag always? Can you take them on planes? I'm going to the Renaissance fair this weekend and to Bonnaroo next month and would really like to take my newest girl with me to both. Any suggestions?

Here are my girls that I've made so far.

This was a girl I made this time last year, my first, but I never finished her sadly :/ I just wasn't in love with her enough. But I did reroot her entire scalp, which was an incredible undertaking I was not fully prepared for XD

Then my second, Piper, I made to kind of be the 'girly' one.

And my latest, Paloma. I've already taken her to Atlanta with me to see Cirque du Soleil, and some of the performers from the show liked the picture I posted on instagram

OMG Macaron is like my Middie Grail!!! Though I didn't even know Mary Anne existed until I unwrapped her at Christmas or she would've been high on my list just for having such cute stock and being Wonderland themed if nothing else. xD
The furthest I've taken any of my girls at the moment is maybe a 45 min drive away, and then she just sat in my lap in the car or beside me next to my sister's doll. We were going to look at a craigslist lot of doll clothes and accessories so we thought it would be a good idea to take them along to make sure things would fit.
I don't know that I could put my Blythes in a bag but then the only bag I carry usually that is large enough for them to fit in has a habit of swallowing everything around it and whether or not you get it back in a timely manner remains to be seen. Lately I've been taking tinier dolls with me when I go anywhere, I have a AI girl that fits perfectly in a hard glasses case I have and she goes into it and it goes into my pocket.
If I had a bag specifically for carrying my Blythes I might put them in one, been thinking about tracking down a cute diaper bag at a thrift store or something that I could modify to hold one or more of them securely.

Love all the sweethearts in here - Blythe's are so special and I LOVE all the customs Buzzingbumble!

I have only ever owned one Blythe, and she happens to be my one and only custom too - I just sold her, little bit sad about that, but she deserved more attention than the box she was getting with me ;)
