Happy birthday!
I got a ATC swap card in the mail. I keep the envelope with the card when I store it away so I can remember exactly where it came from (I’ve always been fascinated with where mail comes from. Nothing better than “oh! It’s from X place that isn’t my hometown” and just having it on record. Never know when I might pop up in one of these places and say hello! So I decided to look through the cards I’ve gotten before. Everybody here is so talented!

Happy belated birthday, BlackCurtains!

The thing that made me smile today was this sticker. It rather made me want to start singing "My lovely horse, running through the field..."

Many (belated) happy returns, Black Curtains!

My kid had stage school club today and they asked the kids to wear Halloween costumes - I hastily bought a black piece of fake fur and made cuffs for her wrists and ankles plus a fluffy tail. These were worn over a simple black long-sleeved, high-necked top and black leggings. Cheated with a store-bought cat mask from Claire's Accessories but it saved me having to deal with messy makeup.

Well, she won a prize (chocolates) for best costume! A happy surprise for her (and my ego, LOL).

Oh and I now have Gusty and Surprise  :newpony: :newpony: :frolic:  thanks to Amazon... as my local pony drought is just too fierce...

Thank you so much, everyone!

My grocery order went through. I've been trying to buy for days but each time I went to check out it would tell me everything in my cart was out of stock. Must have been a glitch with the website because I was able to finally place the order for everything I wanted (including some ice cream, yum!).

Oooh yes, a big ol' singalong of My Lovely Horse would be grand, with the sax solo included of course! :D

The sax solo is a must! WITH the psychadelic rainbow!!

So it's October 2020, and I realised that means my old ipod classic is now 14 years old (and still operational!)

That may seem completely unimportant, but my ipod and I have been literally everywhere together for most of that time. I bought it in 2006 when I was having a lot of atmospheric anxiety when travelling, so that I could block out the noise and focus on the music (music has always been really important to me). It came with me on my first solo trip abroad - Belgium - and I can still remember sitting at the station waiting for the eurostar listening to it.

For 13 of the last 14 years it accompanied me on every single trip everywhere. From Japan to the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Italy, France, Portugal, Finland, Sweden, Denmark...all over the UK. To university, for two postgrad degrees. Around London when exploring and looking for new places to live. Everywhere.

Sadly a year ago its earphone port wigged out so that now only one earphone works consistently. It is the port and not the earphones, and given it's age, I don't want to try and replace it. So now it is in retirement at home, docked in my old stereo port. I have another ipod to travel with now, but it has absolutely no emotional meaning to me xD. And lockdown has meant I've been here more anyway. So it is still my companion.

I am typing this right now listening to the old ipod play through one of my asian music playlists. And reflecting that 14 years is really not all that bad. It was expensive for me when I bought it, but I have definitely more than had my money's worth from it.

Happy birthday to your ipod, Taffeta! That's great going for a portable music device; the longest I ever got out of any mp3 player was four years!

And the thing that made me smile today was just getting some much-needed downtime, after having spent the past couple of weeks picking up the slack for other people and dealing with needlessly vile customers. All I have to say to them is:
As is it, I did half a day of volunteering, came home, stuck a podcast on and made some wholemeal soda bread while my cat lounged by the kitchen door. It was very relaxing and the bread has turned out alright considering it's my first go. It kind of looks like a boulder that's been sprinkled with oats, but the inside is nice and springy, and the flavour is satisfying, so that's a victory.
On top of that, a huge flock of jackdaws has just come speeding over the garden! They do it every day at dawn, then again in the opposite direction at dusk, and they always make me happy. :D

My 18 year old kitty has hyperthyroidism. She only weighs 4 lbs, she's just skin and bones. I didn't have any luck with the pill. Then I tried a liquid, and it was working really well, she put on weight and wasn't as thirsty. As time went on though, it got harder to give her the medicine. My last resort was an ear cream, you rub on the inside of the ear and it's absorbed through the skin. It's expensive, but I had to try it. It's been about two weeks and everything is fine. She doesn't mind her ears being handled (in fact she loves ear rubs) and I can tell the medicine is working. Not as fast as the liquid, but any improvement is welcome.

It's Halloween! Tonight will be horror movies, cooking with friends and eating candy.

Also, since I was going crazy buying three Barbies this year despite vowing not to buy any doll in 2020, my friend kindly got a Cave Club Emberly for me. She bought it so I don't have to  So sweet!

A couple of weeks ago, the Aldi near me were selling tiny pumpkins and squashes very cheaply (39p or 49p, cannot remember!) I bought an orange one and a green/yellow striped one, put them in my garage fridge and forgot about them until today.

I cut them open, saved the seeds, (could be fun trying to grow them next spring?) cut a simple spooky face and popped one of those electric tealights inside. They look great!!!

It is now approaching twilight here in the UK, my li'l pumpkins are sat near me in my lounge, keeping my kid company. Nasty raining weather outside, so we are staying indoors where it's cosy!

Sister dared me to prank the house with my MH minis and dolls as it's Hallowe'en. So last night I snuck down after my parents went to bed and planted little friends in the living room, kitchen and bathroom.

Dad was more appreciative than Mum...

But in the current situation, a little bit of humour is essential. :)

As you can tell, sister and I are super mature 30+ year olds.
