Hi everyone!!
I'm sorry for my absense, and that the previous G2 thread got locked as a subsequent result of that.
But I have news to share!
The G2 FB group, a person who works with HQG1 is starting the process of making HQG2 ponies!

And it looks like the prototype is doing well so far, just needs a stronger neck peg, mane rooting guide and tail hole!

I got a response from the person who posted those pics, they said they'd be sold on facebook and other places, although it seems like there's no solid plan. They mentioned they have an etsy store and some pony owners (?) are interested in selling them.

I assume that they're deleted now (deleted from facebook), I saw them when the topic was first posted but they're gone now.

I think if I remember correctly, Facebook direct image links expire after so long, so the images are probably still around on FB's server but under a new link, or something? I'm not sure exactly how it works.

In regards to the prototypes, would you guys like me to update the images? I'll see if I can find them on FB again and I can download them to my dropbox or something so there's no longer any weird expiring links.
Edit: I've uploaded the pics to another image hosting sight so they shouldn't break anymore!
Also, heads up, I've found my old G2 animatic and I'll resume my work on it.

That's absolutely stunning. You did such a good job. The Chap Mei wings look really nice on G2s and the glitter makes it so much better. (I suppose that it makes sense, as Chap Mei are G2 fakies, after all and they do have pretty similar bodies). I really like the way you did Starcatcher's markings, too.

That custom looks amazing! Such a good idea to use Chap Mei wings, they look so nice!
This reminded me that I used to attach my Chap Mei wings to ponies with a hair tie once the saddle broke.

How's everyone going? Any new purchases? Discoveries? Projects?
I have another project under way alongside my G2 animation and I wanna gauge potential interest.
Would you be interested in G2 enamel pins? I have a few designs I'm working on (I have a total of 7 designs planned, I've already done 2 and I'm working on the 3rd) plus more ideas for potential future designs.

Wow, that G2 Star Catcher is gorgeous!
Love the idea of Dolly Mix wings on G2s. I wouldn't have thought of them, but they do fit the aesthetic very well.

I don't think the HQG1C people are the ones proposing the G2 blanks. At least, I haven't seen anything about it on their Facebook. I think it's someone else who was inspired by them.

I do agree, I got the general vibe that it's not by the HQG1 people, but someone who has worked with them in the past.

Hi all!
The head of the project has found a good factory for the blanks to be mass produced (so that the price is more reasonable)a nd is thinking of using kickstarter or gofundme to gather funds.
What're you guys opinions on this?

IIRC Clipper and/or someone else involved with HQG1C said they'd *like* to do G2s but were currently more focused on trying to sell their backstock of HQG1Cs.
I don't think I could donate to a Kickstarter/Gofundme but I'd be excited to see one :)

Yeah, from what I've seen on their Facebook, HQG1C's next two molds will be Baby Moondancer and newborn Dibbles molds.
I think crowdfunding is a great idea because a lot of people will say "Oh, I'd love to see someone make [blank]!" and then not actually buy the thing. Not out of malice, but because, yeah, that DO like the thing but not enough to buy it. Which can really screw over small creators. I was talking to an enamel pin seller at a Transformers 'con and she says Kickstarters are how she gauges which pins to make next.
And enamel pins are pretty affordable to produce afaik. A factory pony mold costs $10,000 to create. And then on top of that you have to pay for the production run.

^ This is a good way of putting it! Like, I'll admit I'm more interested in new G2 characters rather than blank molds - I'm not a customizer. So it's hard for me to say if I could commit to backing a crowdfunder or not, y'know? But I definitely think it's a good idea.

For me, I went to my first ever IRL MLP meet up! It was so fun and we even talked about G2s! It seemed to be kinda popular in Australia until they stopped being sold, but that may be me skewing word of mouth data! (I was even recognized for being a "keen buyer" in the Aus/NZ FB group)
Also I bought some missing accessories, twins Moondust/Stardust and Spring from the G2 FB group!

Added some new prototypes and I worked on the PC-game section.
My laptop from ye olden days still managed to run the PC-game fully (especially on the bits where it crashes on the newer Windows versions).
So I went on a screencap spree and made this (there's even a G2-ish font I managed to rip off the cd-rom):

And hey, I thought the Dutch Butterfly voice was annoying... Then I bootedup the US version and the cringe was real ^^;

It's going okay, things are a bit rough lately but I'm doing my best. I don't think I'll be buying any ponies for Christmas, but I have definitely been buying some art stuff! An art book or two, I'm looking at maybe getting a sample pack in consideration for possibly making my own art book in the future • ᵕ •✿ I've gotten like way too excited about the idea and it might not be reasonable lol, so I'm gonna have to think about it when my head's a little more clear.

Oh my gosh there are IRL meetups over here? I had no idea! I've been in this hobby since 2004 and never been to a single IRL meetup because I didn't think they were a thing here!
Also G2-related, my recent poll on which set concept I should complete next included a G2 set, so you can expect them in the future! :heart:

She was very dirty when she arrived, and after a spa day she is much cleaner. :lol: to my surprise her hair was in very good condition and her eye gems are still very bright.

A dusting of pink on her cheek and nose on this side of her face does not seem to come off with scrubbing, I thought I would try sun fading her, but now I enjoy that she looks like she has blush and a pink nose like she has been outside on a cold day. It fits with her wintery colours. :)
I would love to see your pony when she arrives too lady frostbite. :)

I haven't been keeping up with these G2 threads so sorry if this was discussed already, but it just occured to me the other day that last year was the 25th anniversary of G2! And then I was immediately saddened that there was no acknowledgement of it from Hasbro or anywhere else. :(

Oh my gosh! I don't end up keeping up with the anniversaries of MLP myself even though it's always been such a big thing in my life, but I am both not surprised and similarly saddened by the lack of acknowledgement. But all that really means is that we need to throw our own party for it.

I bought a G2 playset still in its box(Dainty dove's wedding chapel) and found this was inside too! :lol:

Does anyone know if this invitation came with the boxed playsets? I do not remember them from my childhood (only the heart shaped folding promotional pamphlets that came with them.)
I have not seen the ponies drawn like this before, they look in between G1 and 2!
I also have the 1999 annual if anyone would like me to post photos of that too.
It was a very nice surprise to find. You are all invited to my pony party! :lol:

Here are the photos of my Dainty Dove Chapel set that the invitation card I posted came with. :) she came with the box in very nice condition. I have the box for my original Chapel playset from my childhood which I had to throw away because of damage. The box is torn a bit and I am not sure if I should keep it or cut out the card and throw away the rest. Does anyone think it would be better to hold on to the box?
Part of my Sweet Berry's Kitchen is also in my collection (I have not found the complete playset in storage yet) I also have the box for that one.
Bonus picture - I found my Princess Twinkle Star in storage and now I have the full 6 of the first princess ponies release! A lot of them need to be restored and I am really hoping I can find the combs and accessories that they should have in storage too! Only Silver Swirl is not my childhood ponies. I bought her to complete my set. :lol:

This style looks really interesting! I wonder whether the illustrator/s intentionally combined the styles or whether it was coincidental.
It definitely does appear to be related to the promotional UK inserts that were mentioned earlier, but sadly, I don't have any additional information.

Hasbro seems to want to pretend that g2 never happened there was a g5 advertisement where it showed the logo of previous my little pony gens and it did not show g2 it just skipped from g1 to g3
