How much would you pay for this Craigslist lot?

I'm negotiating a price for a Craigslist lot with a seller, and she wants a bit more than I'm willing to pay. How much do you think this lot is worth? They're in excellent condition, as the listing says and as you can see. There are 36 ponies and Molly and Megan. It looks like Cotton Candy, Snuzzle, etc., are flat-foot, and some of the ponies have what look like original ribbons (some clearly aren't, though, and I don't think they're wearing their own correct ribbons).

I would buy the lot for resale, and I'd have to pay shipping, too. They don't look like they need much cleaning, but their tails need unbraiding.

Not sure how much I'd be comfortable buying the entire set for, but... OMGOMGOMG the Megan and Molly dolls, I so want (and would be willing to pay no more than $300 for those two).

I dunno, $100?  The ponies are all nice but they're also all common.  Though with their original ribbons and Megan/Molly with all their clothes that might drive the price up.

36 ponies all look in good shape, a lot like that I'd probably go $150 or so on.  Maybe even $200.

I'm an absolute G1 novice. (Seriously: I'm hoping to get my very first G1 ponies this month.) So I can't tell you how valuable those are. I can tell you -I- think they look nice (though getting them unbraided may be a pain). And there are definitely quite a few there that I really want: Gusty, Glory, Minty, Butterscotch, Posey, Fizzy, Firefly... Those are the ones I (think I) can name from looking at the images. The Megan and Molly dolls, complete with clothes, ponies, etc. are also very nice. It can be a real pain getting 80s toys so well put together.

I'd say about $90-100 if you're taking the whole lot. Though individually they'd be worth quite a bit more - they look gorgeous!

Thanks, guys -- this confirms for me that the $350 she asked for is too much. Maybe if I can nicely explain that they're super-good ponies but not especially rare she would take a lower amount, maybe in the $100 to $150 range . . .

Thats what I thought! And even Lickety looks like she has a lot of pink in there.

I would agree if you are taking the lot $100-120 and because people do expect a bargain on sites like CL - its maybe low but you are committing to a big lot and as others have mentioned they are almost all quite common ponies. However if you are happy to pay actual value then $150-160 may be more fair.

Okay -- I've sent her an offer along the lines of what you guys have suggested, mentioning that I got some advice from fellow collectors, and I'll see what she says. I have a feeling she'll say no, but you never know!

I definitely agree. That lot is way overpriced at $350. I hope she will take your offer into some consideration. Let us know!

$350 is roughly $10 each. That's what you'd probably get selling them individually, not as a lot. They are extremely nice looking, you'd get a lot more for some in bidding wars for glitter that looks that good but averaged out $10 each is probably pretty darn close.  Ebay has been quite nuts lately so who knows. Honestly, I think $350 is a very reasonable price for that lot, considering Gusty's in there, the condition of Posey's hair and the two so softs, and the Megan and Molly sets.  The rest are pretty common, yes, but taking the outliers out, it seems to me more around $5 a pony at that price, which is even a pretty good bargain for common, VG G1s.  This is, however, also looking at it as though you were planning on keeping them all for your collection, which you mentioned you were not doing. I've never bought with the intention of reselling, so I can't really help you on that front, but I think somewhere between $200 and $300 would be a fair offer and the least likely to offend her

Well, she turned down my offer of $160 plus shipping (she was nice about it, though). She mentioned in her response that they go for more than my offer on other websites (probably meaning Ebay), which is kind of true; but I hope she knows the difference between, say, a lot with Mimic and Red Roses and Rapunzel in it and this lot. But oh well. You win some, you lose some. Thanks for your help, guys!
