I have both of them, got them from new back when they were sold in stores.

I like this set and their accessories, esp. the wedding cake - I'm sure it's inspired by Pony Bride's wedding cake. The topper comes off and dubles as a comb.

@ LadyAmalthea: The Clever Clover you have is the original Clever Clover. He was sold as a single.

I have the purple one. I'm not interested in the white one.

Wow, where did the photos go? I saw this post with the photos very late last night but was too tired to reply then. I would say that she is probably the Spanish version since she doesn't have the country of origin under her hooves - most if not all Spanish ponies doesn't have a country under their hooves.

This looks really neat! I love it when the toy companies really pay attention to the small details! Thank you for sharing!

I have never seen anything like those before! I wonder if they could have come with some candy of some sort?

Thank you very much! :) That website looks extensive and very helpful! I'm feeling much more at ease now and am excited to look more into this.

I wish I didn't know that some of the prototypes I see in the pictures in some of my phamplets and have been oogling over most of my life are actually made of clay and painted. I also wish I didn't know MLPs are considered valuable collectibles by some as I feel it takes all the fun out of them and makes them so expensive. I also wish I didn't know about the twisted and obscene side of the FiM fandom and that that fanbase supposedly had an influence on the cartoons with inside jokes or something, makes me want to not watch the cartoons at all.

Good news for you, Ponyrama, MLPs are made from vinyl! I think mainly the plastics people are worried about weakening tend to be ones that are prone to being more brittle, or plastics that start out hard. Good rule of thumb with toys, if the plastic feels squishy it’s probably vinyl, if it feels more hard it’s likely to be something called ABS plastic. Think the texture of a pony vs that of a Dream Castle!

Another fun science fact that might ease your mind - hydrogen peroxide is also the active ingredient in Oxy Clean, which is widely recommended as safe for giving ponies a good deep clean, and, as far as I know, has been for quite some time.

I find it FUN how much science goes into toy restoration myself! Sometimes it feels very mad scientist. Only the creature on the slab is very cute and rainbow.

Thank you very much for that info! It is indeed very interesting with all the science that actually goes into all this. This is something I want to look deeper into when I have the time! One thing I was wondering, though, is if it would bleech the original color of the pony - I mean not just remove the discoloring but also bleech the original color of the plastic? I remember back in the day a method for removing marker stains was using acne cream. That was only good for white ponies, though, as it would bleech the color of colored ponies (and it can also make yellow stains on white ponies so this is not a recommended method!)

What is that cream you are talking about? My Twinkler who used to be a beautiful dark purple has turned brown :(. I would love it if I could get her back to her original color!

I think they are talking about hydrogen peroxide. The cream that hairdressers use to make blonde hair. I use the 40 volume one and on my ponies I have had good results.

Yup, that’s the stuff! Fading yellowed or stained plastic under sun or UV light is called sun fading in the pony community and retrobrighting pretty much everywhere else. People use this process to de-yellow everything from toys, to vintage computer and game system parts, or even collectible Nike shoes. You can find lots of helpful tutorials on building a UV light box on YouTube, and there’s even a Wikipedia page for retrobrighting. If you want to see some lovely results of this process, check out @makingponiespretty on Instagram. Plenty of other folks use it too! I’d be really interested to see if it helps your Twinkler.

@Blackcurtains, all these compliments are activating my inner archivist!

Thank you very much both of you for replying! I know about sunfading by just putting the pony in a sunny window but I didn't really know about retrobrighting. I did a Google search on it but I'm not sure if I feel comfortable experimenting with it. It does sound like a harsh product and I found an article by some conservators by profession who had experimented with the RetrOBright cream on different plastics and they found that it changes/damages the surface on some plastic types, they mentioned specifically PMMA and PVC. I don't really know what kind of plastic MLPs are made of but I want to educate myself more on this topic when I get the time before trying it out. I don't want to risk making long term damage. Who knew that caring for your toys would involve this much science  :drunk: lol I have yet to try sunfading Twinkler with just plain sun.

Pony Corral / Re: My Little Pony references in other media!

There is an episode of The Amazing World of Gumball where Gumball and Darwin rent a video for Anais called A Pony's Tail. And there is an episode of Teen Titans Go where Raven plays with ponies.

I also seem to have vague memory of an episode of The Simpsons where Lisa has a lunchbox with a My Little Pony like rainbow on it and I think there also was a MLP lunchbox in Full House.

I have also come across this on some G3 ponies. My Spring Breeze has them, too, though the yellow ones in the back are almost completely covered by the holes. I think the guide lines are only visible if the holes aren't aligned properly like PrincessKittyDragon said, like with the grooves G1 ponies had as hair guidelines.

I just remembered another one. I got Star Dancer in a trade many years ago. I was told that she had a small rub in one of the body markings but when I got her and cleaned her up it turned out to be dirt and her markings were perfect  ^.^

Also when I bid on Ice Crystal on eBay a little over a year ago I could see in the photos that he had something in one of the eyes and I couldn't tell if it was a flaw or not. He was otherwise gorgeous and complete with all accessories and the EU trade agreement was about to end so I decided to go all in to get him. When I received him there was no trace of anything on any of his eyes. I'm so happy I went all in and won him

Many years ago I bought a TE Sweet Pop from eBay. I don't remember exactly how she was described but it was something along the lines that she was almost bait. I thought she looked nice in the pictures and she was cheap so I bought her. When I got her she looked just as nice as in the pictures. Her tail was little poofy but otherwise she looked great! I have later found out that the white stripe in her hair is supposed to be light pink but in her case I honestly don't mind that it's faded.
