I'm not interested in this pony.  But I once saw one with amazing regrind on ebay.  It made him look pinto! I wanted him so bad but needed to hold back from spending.

I have three!
They have faded over the years so they are three different shades of orange and look like different ponies. We call them the Wigwam Brothers.
I can't part with any of them as they look so fab together.

I have 4-5 of him, a complete set of his accessories and another bonnet. I bought his bonnet on eBay then several months later I found one in the wild with his bonnet, then another with his bandana so I've been able to complete him!

I can’t make up my mind! I think I would have to have him in hand to decide if I want him.

Thank you!

Accessories are thanks to the local collector who lived near my family and who sold up her collection. She had a whole tub of accessories and most all the boy accessories, princess ones, ponywear, etc were in it...

I never had him, but I remember him from the store. My sister had chosen Chief, and as always, I was not allowed to choose the same pony. So the two I was holding was Wigwam and Barnacle. I wanted both, they were so cool! But in the end I chose Barnacle. Still have him, and still love him- but I never forgot Wigwam! He is on my list of ponies I would like to have if I allowed myself to have more than 42 ponies

One of my favorite childhood ponies had him and my mom helped me make a more appropriate accessory and not a headdress. To reflect our people and one I would've worn while dancing (boys southern grass dance). War bonnets and head dresses are sacred items, never to be depicted as toys.

What did she help you make Sammie?

I have him, I think he's my favourite G1 boy! I just love that bright orange colour. I don't have his accessories, though, as the headdress alone usually costs twice as much as the pony did...

I'm interested to know this, too! Despite my love for Wigwam, I feel conflicted because of the kind of casual cultural appropriation that was still common two or three decades ago (and to some extent, still is... but at least I hope toy producers these days would show some more awareness and respect...?).

I always feel like Wigwam was a badly thought out attempt to be inclusive that really didn't work out because, eighties awkwardness.

Over here when I was a kid I don't think I ever really thought about the themes of any of the big brothers as I never had any, but I remember a story about Wigwam telling stories over a campfire. I have no idea how offensive that is in real terms, but I really think the UK storytellers struggled with a lot of the boy pony themes because they were all so rooted in the US. I don't suppose I thought about Wigwam as potential offensive when I was small...but as an adult I've always wondered how much he misses the mark.

I don't really see story telling over a campfire as offensive. If it weren't for oral story telling, humanity would have so little to remember of its past, its myths, its religions and its history. Even if a lot of it gets fudged and embellished. Native Americans were not the only ones who did so, after all.
