Off Topic / Re: What food do you refuse to eat?
« on: February 28, 2021, 06:04:42 PM »
Potatoes, (except certain fries/chips/crisps) Iv hated them my whole life, and my tolerance has only gotten worse lol. I hate mashed potatoes more than anything, everything about them is gross to me, the texture, the smell, the taste, the color? I dunno, never been a fan.

I also dont eat freshwater fish, also never been a fan of the taste, and i have tried very hard to get over that. Over the years I've basically entirely cut out all sea food.
I enjoy the taste of shellfish but its never been something I've craved, so it wasn't hard. If someone I know makes it and serves it to me, Ill eat it. But otherwise I just feel like our oceans are a mess and so is the industry around fishing/meat farms etc (i guess tbh i dont eat much meat period anymore either, not vegetarian though)

Why not google photos?

It'll give you the ability to store things. categorize things. share folders... etc.

oh? Ill look into it, I'm very unfamiliar with google, but I do know people who use it for a lot of different things now, I always forget that its more than a search engine now haha.

Off Topic / I need to make an online catalogue
« on: January 26, 2021, 05:58:13 AM »
So yeah.. I need to do this, and figured maybe someone here might help? Has anyone uploaded their entire collection to some online catalogue?
I have an extensive collection of fabrics... Like an embarrassingly huge collection of prints... And I have no intention of stopping its growth lol, but its gotten so big that its nearly impossible for me to share it when I need someone to pick their fabric for a project...

I originally had it all listed on tumblr.. However its not organized, and tumblr does not work well mobile if you don't have the app installed, and I would like something that was more streamlined anyway... I am not planning on selling anything from this catalogue, it is strictly a visual reference.

I would like to be able to organize things, maybe using a keyword tag system (but not required)
I would for sure like to have categories that a person could click on and see all items in said category.
Also please no apps, I work mainly on a desktop, and I want this to be easily accessible without someone needing to install apps..
I don't mind paying a domain fee, but free would also be acceptable xD lol

Uh yeah this is utterly ridiculous and classic manipulation... I put up with this kinda stuff for a long time, and slowly cut out those friends when I realized their friendship, literally had a price tag!

I had one friend, who called me "best friend" and we were best friends since 6th grade, so it went deep.. she was very bossy but I felt like I owed her because she always said we were best friends. I didn't have money for most of my teen-young adult life, so she was always insisting to go out to eat, I told her I couldn't pay for my meals and I wasn't comfortable with people buying things for me, but she would harasse me until I agreed. She would order food for me like I was a child because she was the one that would pay.. (honestly if she had let me order my own food, i would have just ordered the cheapest thing) And then the whole event would just be me listening to her talk about her wonderful life and/or drama..  Eventually I started working and making a good living, but she no longer lives in the area, so she visits about once a year, and I offered to bring her out to eat, so we could catch up and I would pay for her meal, because that was something I could do now. She was somewhat rudely in shock that I could afford to pay for things... And then when I told her "no really order whatever you want, its on me!" She ordered TWO FULL DINNERS! I was in such shock I didnt even know what to say!

But that was my wake up call, I thought a lot about the dynamic of our friendship over the years, and it  wasnt pretty. It needed to end! No one deserves to put up with weird manipulative behavior!

-Stumbles in from the US-
Yeah everyone here cant decide if its real or fake yet, our most recent "shut down" is a joke as with all previous shut downs, only really affects restaurant workers, most of my friends are out of work with very little compensation. But for the most part, our lives are hardly different, though some people make it seem like were horribly oppresed because about the only constant is that its now required to wear masks everywhere (a lot still dont though). I work overnight in a grocery store, so my job has not been affected, and luckily I can keep my distance from most pedestrians. I don't believe this will be gone for a long time in the US at least, because when an official order does come out, most people get angry and refuse to listen to it, AND those orders usually are like throwing a thimble of water on an inferno, just the barest of minimum to appear like they're doing something. I have little pride in my country anymore.

The pharmacy at my store will be part of the first wave of vaccinations, they sent us all emails saying they are trying to get all employees in on the second wave, because of "essential worker" status. But depending on how much they decide to charge for it, I may not be able to get it anyway, but I'm putting money away just in case.

I have not seen my grandparents in almost a year. My grandpa was in early stages of Alzheimer's last year, and I've been told, he really only has a few hours out of the day where he is "lucid" and remembers everyone's names now. I miss doing stuff with my family, and going out at night with my friends, but I understand this wont go away until all of us learn how to social distance, lol my hope in the rest of this country is low.

I absolutely love my kindle! I bought one with extra storage just because I'm so addicted to reading haha. I do enjoy paper books, and I do still own a few, mainly ones that I loved but have not been released as e-book yet, (or just nostalgic things like all my first edition harry potter hard covers that my grandparents bought me as released, and they wrote special notes in the covers<3)
But my kindle takes up so little space, It also fits in my coat pocket which is extremely nice for work.

I miss the days of knowing what you were going to get when you bought it, and blind bags were a seldom fun treat that maybe cost $3-5..
I enjoyed blind bags back then, now they're just overrun and the gimmick is more frustrating than its worth.

I ordered some fast food, and when I went to pay, they said the person ahead of me paid for mine, so I paid for the people behind me. :) its funny cause as i was driving up, I was thinking about buying the peoples food behind me anyway, and then the employee said "put your money away, the person ahead paid for it" lol so that was a nice feeling.

I think I've been fairly lucky (if you can call it luck) I work in a restaurant.. so I did get layed off for about 2 months, because they didnt need a full kitchen when we only had curbside open. I work full time kitchen wages (which arnt much but its livable, for my situation at least) Iv been back to work for like a month now? Its so hard to keep track of time anymore. Considerably, my bills are not very high, I have to live with my mom, because she cant live on her own, so we share our house mortgage and bills, and on top of that I just have my car and insurance payments, which are not high. I am dreading the possible re closure, but also understand its necessity.

If i lived on my own, with my son, in my own fully owned home or rented apartment, there would have been no way I could have financially supported myself and my son while I had been layoff, even with the $600

I have a misticpets, subeta, and flightrising account. However Misticpets is pretty dead, and honestly havent checked my account in over a year :/ when the owner abandoned it, a lot of people stopped being active. Subeta is fun, but I havent had the time to commit to much of anything this year. Im fairly active on FR though, My name is Madoni there. (actually i think its the same on all 3 of those lol)

Off Topic / 3D Printer advice
« on: July 30, 2020, 10:52:29 PM »
I keep asking my friend to print things off for me, and its sorta become a lot, to the point, where I think MAYBE, I should consider saving up for a printer myself, haha.

However, If I'm going to buy a printer, I might as get one I'll get maximum use out of. So far, I really only have my buddy print me off things like ear savers, and key cap removers, and lil nick-knacks like that, I've never bothered asking for something that might require a higher resolution.

I'm not looking to break the bank, but I also would like something that could give me decent resolution, so I'm fully expecting and committed to paying out.
I would like to print D&D miniatures, gundam/model mod parts, and I have a couple ball jointed doll files iv bought and squirreled away, that I would love to work on someday lol. Aside from the bjd, I predict that most of my prints would be of the miniature/small scale size, where a low res print would just not help with the small details.

So anyone experienced have any suggestions for me?

edit: It looks like I should look for something called a SLA/DLP Printer?

Well, I officially got layed off today, I work in food industry, so I can't say I'm surprised (honestly I was surprised at the number of customers we would still get even yesterday before it was ordered by or governor that bars/restaurants are to be closed and on "take out/delivery only"

My sons school is also closed for 3 weeks

I'm going from working almost 60-70 hrs a week to a big fat zero x.x I don't do well with idle time, but maybe ill be able to get some crafting in?
I decided to make some new cloth pads since.. why not? (i have an adhesive allergy so disposable period pads are ouchie down there for me, but also environmental reasons encoraged me to switch years ago) but Now I did that, I'm not sure what to do with myself.
