Pony Corral / Re: Anyone else actually loves the og 80s MLP the movie?

Hooves down I do.  I loved that movie to pieces.  Watched it as a kid and still steel away time now and a gain to watch it all over again.  Will always have a place in my heart.

I want to thank you for all the helpful tips and video links.  I decided to experiment on the tail first since, if it didn't work out, I could just pull it out through the body and try again.

I haven't had the nerve to try it on the mane (I also haven't started putting in plugs yet)
I wanted to see how the tail experiment worked before I put in a single plug.  I figured i might have to add more holes depending on how thick the tail ended up looking after the experiment.

I used English Toffee, Gingerbread and Nutmeg from Dollyhair. for the tail, which I'll also use for the mane.

I did find a video on how to crimp pony hair and I decided that I'd try that along with the teasing video posted by BlackCurtains.

This is how the tail turned out.

I'm actually fairly happy with that, so I'll start putting in plugs soon and then try that on the mane.  I'll post the finished product here as well.  :D

Customs / Hair teasing help
« on: January 31, 2022, 01:21:58 PM »
Hey all,
I finally picked picked up a custom I started years ago, and remembered what I put it down. I was trying to figure out how to give the pony a teased wild mane of hair and hit a wall. I tried a few times on discarded Hanks of hair, but it only looked like a tangled mess.

I may have lived through the 80's, but I never teased my hair.  Does anyone have any tips for me?

Here's what I'm trying to copy

I know I'm alone in this, but I'd love to see a G4 Sandollar.

I use a metal dental pick, like those used by actual dentists, not the plastic ones you can find in say a Target. I ordered mine from Amazon for less than $10 (think it was actually only $5??). I tried the plastic ones, but they always broke on me.  It hadn't let me down so far, even made getting hair out of the really big G4zilla heads easy. :)

Trader & Shipping Support / Has anyone heard from sunshine92109?
« on: July 27, 2017, 10:58:38 AM »
Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows how to contact sunshine92109, or has heard from her?  I started paying for a set of four FS G1 to G4s in October, and finally finished paying her in March. I emailed her and she said she could get them out in a week or so, but that was 4 months ago.

I've tried messaging her a bunch of times here, but no response. I used an email that she used for PayPal to try to reach her, but alas, no response.  Even if it's just to say that life got in the way, I'd appreciate some response. I'm all too aware that it can. :)

Anything that anyone can do to help, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!

I don't know how the solution will work on painted decals... If you do the pure liquid version, rather than adding xanthum gum to make it a paste and painting it on the pony it might dissolve the decals.

I've been putting out soak trays on my balcony sill for 8 hours.. sun is a little less controlled if you're using the gel method.. you need to wrap the item in saran wrap, and if there's a breeze, or if it's not pulled super tight, you can be left with lines.. I killed one Pretty Parlor experimenting like that. But for soaking small things, it's great. The pretty Parlor white door... Looks amazing... As do the gray controllers I took apart and soaked.

Sure. I have some paste left over from restoring my Nintendo controllers and the Pretty Parlor and enough of each ingredient to make the liquid form too. What color(s) where they?

Hmmmm, that's a thought. I've actually been using RetroBrite recently to restore my original NES controllers (and they look like they just came off the factory line at Nintendo!!!! So happy!!!)
I also made it into a gel form and had limited success with restoring the MLP Pretty Parlor... But I've never thought of using it on a pony. I mix Peroxide and Oxy Clean... So I don't think they'd be corrosive to the softer plastic of a pony. I don't have any spare G1 to test on though... And all of my girls from the 80's were well preserved in boxed till I busted them our a few years ago.

I find dental tools work wonders as well.
I second this! I picked up a metal dental pick for $4 on Amazon... Best $4 I've ever spent. It grabs most of the hair easily and is strong enough to dig into all the glue in a G3's head too!
