McBooks are wonderful... but where are our McPonies?

I just checked out the Happy Meal website, hoping (against hope) for news of an impending McPony release, and I learned that the next Happy Meals will be featuring books.  Normally I'd cheer ('cause kids can never have too many books), but I'm just kind of glum about it.  It's looking like it's all quiet on the McPony front for the rest of the year, and no hint of them for early next year either from what I can glean.

Does anypony have rumours to share?  Are there whisperings or murmurings of ponies to come at the Golden Arches?  I think I'd even be pleased with McEquestria Girls at this point...

Happy meals are really going downhill. They would make a lot of money with ponies.

It's weird we haven't heard anything yet. I mean, when was the last time we went a full year without MLP in a Happy Meal? Hopefully we'll still get them this year, like in November or December. Winter themed figures would be cute. They could have the main six wearing winter hats, scarfs & boots and since there's always eight, I'd love to see Minty added (they need a green pony, plus Winter is Minty's season) and maybe one of the boys or Spike.

I heard that they are going to stop toys altogether and go with the books. I'm just fine with that, but I'm a bibliophile so I'm a little biased!

Wow, McD's, I'm super impressed! Right now they have Angry Birds and Monster High lunchpails, but that's for Halloween I think, for collecting candy lol.

Just books? :0 Whoa! That's great. I mean I'm sad because no mcponies, but that's great for kids. Like how taco bell stopped makin kids meals and promoting their product to children. Good stuff!

I'm actually insanely surprised they haven't made mc equestria girls yet because they're plugging it so hard. I don't like how expensive they are or how... creepy... their faces are. To each their own, but they just make me straight uncomfortable. But I usually love how cute the little mcdonalds ponies are!! And I think that little equestria girls mcdonalds toys would be super adorkable.

Aren't they just doing a rerelease of last year's, but only half the set or something like that? Maybe not in the US, but elsewhere?

It's just for November, and only for two weeks at that. Apparently the books will promote healthy living and eating habits. Go figure!

Wasnt there a pic a while ago this year what hasbro wanted to do with the whole princess twilight thing? I rememver seeing golden arches on there with a happy meal! :O 2013 isnt over yet! Maybe they will release some mcponies later when season 4 comes out!

Unfortunately that's a slide from the investor report/Toy Fair earlier in the year. Its just using an example of the licensees they have.

McDs in the UK have books quite often nowadays it seems, certainly less toy related than they used to be when I was a little girl.

They have a lot of franchises to get through, I am not surprised they have perhaps taken them off the roster for a while. It all depends on whether they agreed a different brand or promotion with Hasbro at all. Fingers crossed for a release again maybe in 2014.
