I would personally never buy something out of someone's car... insane.

You know..... Even if it was real, a dude selling it out of the back of his car for way less than it's worth should have AT LEAST screamed "this is probably stolen"!

I agree with you both 100%! I would never buy something (especially electronics) from someone else's car. It's either a scam or it's stolen goods and neither is good!

I agree with this! Always buy electronics from reputable dealers, or if online, check the feedback first. Never mind that buying from a shady seller like from someone else's car is already a foolish idea to begin with.

LOL......  I would never buy from someone right out of there car. Unless its a farmer selling her vegs. they grew on the farm.

you'd think most people would examine what they're buying before handing over $200 to some random guy in a truck!

It's not uncommon that a prospective buyer is shown a real version of the item, but when it comes to exchanging money and product, they instead give them a box with some other object inside (bricks, cement, or in this case a mirror).

everybody has an abscence of mind and gets scammed at some point. I've been there and later I was all '......wth was I thinking?'

While I can understand something being priced cheaply is appealing especially if someone can't normally afford the full price and that people can have legit reasons to be selling off something for much less than it is worth (lost job, sick pet, drug habit, just plain overspent) but I would be careful. If they are legit they wouldn't mind giving me time to make sure I am getting what I am paying for. You should always approach these things with a healthy dose of skepticism.

My fiance did something almost the same as this lady....
He bought a CD-player but was thinking he bought a DVD-player from a guy out of his truck...and when i come home he unpack the thing and saw it was a cd-player and then he realised he was scammed....it was only 20 bucks so no big damage...but i laughed my butt of! And called him stupid...lol ;-)

I feel bad for the woman but at the same time, who would buy an ipad from some random person in a truck at a gas station.  Obviously, she didn't check out the ipad before she bought it.  But, I do hope they catch the guy who did it so the woman could get her money back possibly.
