Do you think it is easier to trade for or to just buy ponies????

I personally like the idea of trading. You swap something for something someone else doesn't need and both parties are happy.
At the same time though, it does seem easier to sell and use the money to actually purchase ponies when they come up.. as I don't find many people actively trade HTF ponies.
Buying ponies always feels just like that-buying ponies.
While on limited income it's hard to justify shelling out X amount of dollars on a new pony... even if I'm trading one that is worth just that (that I could turn around and sell for X dollars!)

I have a huge collection I am downsizing, but at the same time I want to focus on my grails (as there are so few of them left!) So that my newer and smaller collection will be only of ponies that make me drool :p

So what do you guys have the best luck with?
Do you list ponies for trade or sell ponies to make funds for buying ponies later?
What is usually the quickest/easiest and what do you prefer to do?

I think it's easier to sell, but if you have something rare/highly desired, and what you want is not quite as hard to get but equal in value, then maybe you can do a trade.  If you are looking to trade for something rare, then what's the chance someone has what you want and are willing to give it up for what you are offering?

I have always had more luck with selling and then turn about and buy what I want. I did a lot of trading my old breyer horses for ponies in the past. But I no longer have any to trade.

It's always easier for me to sell rather than to trade to get a pony I want. If offering a rare pony for another rare pony, you're really limiting yourself since you not only have to find someone who wants what you're offering, they ALSO have to have the pony you're after, instead of just having the cash.

I prefer trading but most people obtain the ponies on my wishlist, see the $$$$$ they sell for, and never even consider trading them!

I always love to trade, but the more ponies I own the harder trading gets... :/ Its not easy to find a partner who wants what I have and has what I want lol... not to tell about the items to be the same price range *sigh*

Heh... I'm a buyer... because I like being a seller. If that makes sense...

When I get a harder to find pony, most of the time I've had to BUY it, I never just stumble upon some amazing deal at like a thrift for a rare MO or UK pony, so... I've paid for it, so it makes it so much more desirable for me to want to SELL it, because I see profits in terms of dollars.

However, trading is so much more fun!! I love having trade fodder and having a HTF or rare pony to trade does open the door to help me find other HTF/rare ponies that I'm seeking... so for me, it depends...

I do hate buying for the sheer feeling of BUYING - just money straight out... but, as you mentioned, it can be really hard to trade for HTF/rare ponies, especially because many times, the people with them, already have most common ponies, so even a multiple ponies for 1-rare-pony trade is tough...

I do trades with Gaspode fairly often - usually customising supplies for customising supplies - but I did a trade with Hathorcat recently which was just amazing.

I had a hair barrette (OK, it's a super duper rare one - Dutch Candys I think?) and she acquired Red Roses, Nightglider, Daisy Dreams and Sweetie Swirl to trade with me.

Usually though I'm not one for letting anything go so trades tend to be out of the question.

I don't have much I want to trade, and the few I do are G3s that aren't worth that much. I'm in the buying boat.

I find buying easier, given the exorbitant shipping rates Canada Post charges (10$ and up... no matter how small or light the package), trading is not very practical anymore. 

Buying has gotten more expensive as of late too though, with the US postal price hike.

I love to buy and trade I trade frequently but most of the time its people wanting to trade for my customs- so its a matter of paying with my time and skill for ponies I probably couldn't afford other wise~

Buying is easier, but I find trading so much fun! And I've had a lot of luck trading for the ponies I need

Trading is fun, but I don't have a lot for trade so I usually end up buying.
