A friend found a picture of a flyer posted at a Walmart that said they will get a huge shipment of 7 gold Mario's.

On top of that, only 3,000 stores in the US are apparently getting these aaaand theres emails going about the release date is 4/8 (im not sure if this is the street date or preorder delays).

That email that went out was a mistake.  Walmart has officially confirmed that it will be releasing the Gold Marios on the 20th.  If it's a 24 hour Walmart they'll be released at midnight, if it isn't they'll be released whenever the store opens in the morning.

Of course not every Walmart is getting them, as mentioned.

I actually think it's really ugly so I won't be going for Gold Mario, but I hope everyone that is going after it the best of luck.  There have been a TON of online preorders so I'm thinking this might not be as terribly rare as people are thinking it's going to be.

Oh wow, really? Thats great news! Still sad preorders are officially sold out. Hopefully they restock online! Seems none of the walmarts in my area are getting them.... such a shame because my guy wants one lol.

The more I think about it, the more I don't see the point in a gold Mario...like, I dunno, I could just paint any Mario Amiibo gold.  Is it supposed to do anything special in certain games?  I don't plan on getting it, so I never bothered with details.

I like the gold mario. My store is getting 12 of them in, I am definitley stalking the freight for them. I want one to keep in the box and my husband is going to try to buy one to sell on ebay LOLz. Hes exactly the people who amiibo collectors hate! xD Im opposed to it of course.... but im not his mom so he can do whatever he wants with his monies ._.

from what the gamestop I talked to said there wont be anymore preorders for smash amiibos because of the wild relese dates

Mine just keeps saying to 'check back often' (Gamestop, that is). Personally, I'm wondering if we wont see them start to crop up after the 20th of this month, since the Mario party ones will be out (though that is just my own hope lol.) I know I saw some rumors that Toys R Us may be getting preorder cards though.
