Anyone play Magic, the Gathering?

I just bought my FIRST deck of magic cards and then bought some more online.
I am now learning how to play.

I was wondering if there were any other players on here that would possibly be interested in trading cards or something?
I bought a Red/Green deck but i only want most of the green ones. (it had a couple white in there too i wont use)


I would also be interested in just nerding out and talking about Magic too. !!!

My money! I've played a bit here and there, but I really like going to prereleases and FNM. Finding someone in your area to just sit and play with you and tell you all of the mistakes you are making is good too. It's a faster way to get  better.

Oh yeah my friend is teaching me right now. I am supposed to hang out with him next week and play!

Actually my hubby and I met playing MtG. He was a co-owner in a nerd store that hosted friday night tournaments...I was happily trading some cards, when he walked in and got swarmed by his store patrons (he was also on the national tournament circuit...so like local nerd celebrity). He managed to peek over and saw me laughing with some friends. I took one look at him...our eyes met....love at first sight...head over heels in love by the first counter spell being thrown.

We haven't played in years but we keep a few old school decks lying around just encase we need to throw lightning bolts in anger.

Take a look online for deck build ideas, read forums for strategies and play as much as you can! It's a great game ^_^

Hubby used to, but it's quite costly to keep up with (and he doesn't really have anyone to play with). But he got the online game and has been enjoying that.

I used to watch my friends play in highschool, but I couldnt wrap my head around how they actually played because noone bothered to explain anything ot me.

We did play alot of Yu Gi Oh though^^

I played a lot in high school and I've been picking it back up recently with my husband. He's new to it and I've forgotten a lot so I'm sure our games are wildly incorrect, lol.

Side note: I found packs of MtG cards in the Dollar Tree! They aren't specific boosters for a certain set, more like grab bags, but you can get some decent cards in them. Not all DT stores have them though.

Oh my... mtg. Set a budget on that! If you like it and want to be competitive, even just to win a FNM you will have to spend loads of money. Jace the mind sculptor reached 80 euros each and you needed 4 of them... And if you like vintage dont make me start about the moxes, lol.

Anyway its a great game and I met a bunch of awesome and funny people there. There are (free) online programs that are really good for practising.

Alrak- Yeah i found a website where they sell cards individually and they are decently priced for the ones i wanted. But i am not going to do competitions or anything, just wanted to play for fun. I love card/board games.
That would be cool! I will totally let you know if anything springs to mind! <3

I did for a while, but it just costs too much money to keep up and stay competitive. That's not cool with me.

Oh, you can try the duel decks, they are awesome for beginers and except the Chandra vs Jace one, are very well balanced and fun for a casual play^^.

Every time an expansion comes out, a set of preconstructed decks come for sale. They are good for begginers too. These are fairly cheap.

@Rocketeer: If you gathered a considerable amount of cards in your playtime you can try modern, is a new format like extended. Or the online free to play method...

That's not my room, I used to have a job where I'd do nothing but sort Magic cards for a local gaming store. It was a pretty sweet gig, I got to sit on my butt all day and listen to podcasts. Boss was awesome and that whole business was a smooth sailing ship.

I don't play anymore, not as a result of my old job, but my interest in the game waned around 2003. Got out of high school and didn't have anyone to play with, so I just sort of stopped.

I haven't played in probably ten years and even then it was more about collecting than playing since there were so few people interested in playing.  I just enjoyed the lore and the art and the memories of better times when nearly every outcast carried his deck (or in my case 3) to class with him/her.
