Title: What's Your 3 Favorite Live Action Nickelodeon Shows?
Post by: Leave a Whisper on April 14, 2018, 07:41:01 AM
Game shows don't count.

My picks are Adventures of Pete and Pete. It is weird and hilarious.

Salute Your Shorts. It never fails to make me laugh.

All That. Didn't know then that it was SNL for kids, but it spawned some great skits. Plus the awesome and underrated Good Burger movie.

Honorable mentions go to Welcome Freshman and Clarissa Explains It All. Her snark was inspiring. Whats-her-face from Wizards of Waverly Place has nothing on Clarissa Darling.

Mine are:

The Amanda Show, Drake and Josh and iCarly

Motion seconded on The Adventures of Pete and Pete, that program is fantastic and the music is just sublime!
I love Kenan and Kel as well, especially the episode with the deep-fried cardigan, it never gets old.
Are You Afraid of the Dark always floated my boat as well; it's probably what got me into spooky stuff in the first place.

I'm honestly more of a 2000's kid than 90's so I never saw any classics like Clarissa Explains It All, Salute Your Shorts etc.

But I did grow up watching pretty much all of Dan Schneider's creations. I still very much enjoy Drake and Josh and the earlier episodes of Zoey 101. I'm not really an ICarly fan anymore though? Anyhow very much a nostalgia trip for me.

All That, The Amanda Show, Clarissa Explains It All

I was always a big fan of comedy skit shows like the Amanda Show and All That especially. These shows in some ways launched the comedy careers of a few people. Keenan has come a long way, as he's now a regular on SNL.

If I had to pick a third, there was a REALLY bizarre comedy show called Wienerville which involved human heads with puppet bodies. My memories of it are a little blurry, but I liked it when it was on. Not so sure I'd like it now.

Gosh I forgot about Kenan and Kel. I love that show too.

Hmmm I was more into the animated series, especially the ones they acquired in addition to their original series, but I remember watching a lot of The Secret World of Alex Mack, Animorphs (while it lasted), and All That. All That was my favourite, but I used to get in trouble for watching because it was 'inappropriate'. I don't know how. I didn't really watch the channel past the age of 10, so my memories are vague.

Definitely Drake & Josh and Kenan & Kel!

"Who loves orange soda?"
"K-k-keeeel loves orange soda!"
"Is it true?"
"Mm hmm! I do I do I do I do-ooo!"

If I had to name a third one, it would probably be Victorious, but that's a huge guilty pleasure, so forget that I said that. :ninja:

Same here. The only Nick live action shows that genuinely make me laugh

I don't have any at all since I am unfamiliar with any shows on this particular network, but I just thought I would poke my head in and say hi Law.  You have me curious about this Salute Your Shorts thing. I may have to look this up and see what it is about.

Clarissa Explains It All, Hey Dude, and Guts

How could I forget about Clarissa Explains it All?!! Okay, this is definately my top favorite. I went to the 90's Fest summer concert in NYC dressed as her.

No, I think it was either ABC or syndicated.

Clarissa from Clarissa Explains it All is legitimately my idol.  I adored her as a kid and still do.  I've contemplated making a cross stitch sampler with "what would Clarissa Darling do?" on it.

Are You Afraid of the Dark is second.  My friend and I watch episodes in the dark on Halloween.

Kenan and Kel are my third place but honourable mentions to Alex Mack and Pete and Pete.

On a related note,
"Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger, can I take your order?"

I never really watched the live action shows. It was always the cartoons that I loved to watch. I did like iCarly and Drake and Josh, though.

I wonder if anyone remembers "You Can't Say That On Television"? Kind of a goofball show, but I used to watch it when I was a kid.

(I remember their gimmick was that if you said something pertaining to water, the person would get doused from above. If they said a different key word, they'd get slimed from above. :P )

Hi tula. You should. It's about kids at summer camp, which sounds standard, but 90s Nick live shows had this weird, campy take on slice of life.

Would also highly reccomend Adventures of Pete and Pete.
