In case anyone was wondering about differences between the 35th and 40th anniversary ponies...

I only have the two versions of Cotton Candy, don't have the other five, but yes there are a couple of differences between the two releases

I took a bunch of comparison pics, I'll stick them under a spoiler cut so as to not spam too much.

40th ann. might be slightly more peachy-pink than the previous release, not sure since the lighting in my pony room wasn't perfect when I was taking these.

35th ann. is on the left, 40th is on the right (with the ribbon around her neck)

Some slight differences, though with CC's spots it's kinda hard to tell how much of that is intentional

Personally I think the new one has a sweeter expression.

The biggest/most obvious difference I could see is the eyes. Their eyes are completely different shapes, 35th ann is much more of an almond shape. Their eyelashes are also all different, especially the top two, which are a LOT smaller/thinner than the previous release.

And a little bonus... because I like comparing things...

CC releases over the years. Can you tell who my favourite collector pony is?

25th ann. CC's hair is THICK, it's a real curtain of hair covering up her NDS eye. Everyone else's hair I could tuck behind their ear, but hers wasn't budging.

Poor 25th CC is more than a little wonky, and she kept wanting to tip over (I'll never understand why they gave the 25th anniversary ponies flat feet). Still love her, though :B

25th, 35th, 40th

35th and 40th have the exact same hoof stamps. The only difference is that serial number thingy on her front right, but that's different for every pony. (What does this signify again, anyone remember?)

Still kind of disappointed they decided against the "40th" symbols that showed up in promo photos, but I'm glad I got her anyway

Now if only I could fit all five on the shelf together :p Gonna have to figure out a new place for them!

It's nice to know there are some differences between the 35th and 40th anniversary Cotton Candys.

I posted a brag about the 40th anniversary plushies. I won't repost all of the pics here that I posted in the brag thread, but I thought people might be interested in seeing how they're packaged from Amazon. I know from someone's post here (I think it was Taffeta's) that they would come in a bag instead of a box like we saw at Toy Fair. I was happy to see that Amazon put them in a shipping box instead of just sticking a label on the bag.

Firefly was the first pony I opened. I didn't realize at first her tail was supposed to be curled and thought it was just that way for shipping. Her tail looks a little different because I started uncurling the tail a bit before I realized that it was intentional.

great, thank you so much, i was dying to know the differences between the 2, Hopefully someone else here will show comparison pics of the rest of them or if someone knows of anyone else somewhere who has done the same with the others please let me know

Wow! Putting 35th to shame. Good job Basic Fun👍🏽Kid me never had plush Fire Fly but she was top of my plushy list (I had Bow tie). Already have the 35th original ponies so that’s a pass but those celestial ponies🥰At least the one that’s similar to Sky Rocket in colors(points down).
