LOL im sure people think im weird, but hahahah I dont give a flying pancake what they think!  I pay my bills and then go buy ponies, its just my thing people need to accept if they decide to shop at the same store as me. If cashiers ask, I always say they are mine.  also do the same thing as you stand in front of the ponies with Straeberry Reef on my phone screen!  =P

they thought i am weird before there where ponies... but i guess in a good way  :)
people at fleamarkets smile and i think they are happy for their childhoodtoys to be loved when they see me...well lets say- getting excited
whenever i bring something to the postoffice or get it a claim that there are ponys in it and they should trade the package with love
to friends i explain that they are collectibles- not toys and that its legit cause there are conventions and stuff but with that face

I don't care what people think. But when im out on a flea market and i see ponies or other toys i want to buy cheap i say its for my kids if they ask. beacuse if i say its for me the price goes up because im a collector. I know in the past some in my class thought i was crazy and make fun of me.. but thats there problem.
i dont care. they are collectibles!

If somebody in a store asks about me buying ponies I always say: I'm going to make someone really happy with these today!

And that's not even a lie. Because the happy person is actually me ^.^

In the beginning my boyfriend was asking silly questions, but when I finished cleaning and repairing my first pony he became very enthusiastic about it! He now even asks for their names and stuff.

It's funny how it's totally legit in people's minds that it's appropriate for adults to collect one toy and not another.

ESPECIALLY between "girls'" and "boys'" collactables. Star Wars toys? Sure. MLP? Freak.

I'm really shocked about all the negative experiences people have had just buying ponies. I work in retail and have done for a while in a few different stores and unless your saying something positive you're not supposed to comment on a purchase. I guess asking who it's for isn't really negative but idk I just find it a bit intrusive.

When shopping for ponies I have never received any negative looks or comments from cashiers or anyone really. Nor have I had any positives. I think all the cashiers are completely indifferent, they couldn't care less what I'm buying as long as I pay for it. I'm from the UK I don't know if that makes a difference or not

I don't think I've actually gotten weird looks from shopping for ponies but if the subject comes up and I mention I collect MLP I get weird looks. I think someone had asked me "aren't they for kids?'  I wasn't upset by this and I told them people of all ages collect MLP.

My husband says I am a sale's employees worst nightmare because, they have talk to me and ask me what I need, but if they don't leave me alone I leave the store and let them know it was because they wouldn't stop bothering me while I was trying to shop. If I need help I will ask otherwise...back away leave me some space.  I am terrible about that. Its just me though.  Its the best way to lose my business to start asking me a million questions or meeting me at the door, "Hi welcome to....can I help you?" Man I just want to turn around and leave.

This is me 100%. I don't usually mind someone asking once if they can help me, although I prefer to be left alone completely. I say, "No, thank you," and expect that to be the end of it. If I'm bothered again, I'll leave. I have no problem finding someone if I do need help. But, geez, go away! I don't like other shoppers talking to me, either. I'm not in a store looking for friends or to chat; I'm there to get what I need and get out!

I didn't used to have a problem buying pony things. Since I like to customize as a way to relax on the weekends, I always just felt that I was buying ponies like any other craft supply. However, once I bought a couple of pony things at Toys R Us and when the guy realized I didn't want a gift receipt he actively started mocking me right then and there, and while I walked out of the store I heard him talking to one of the other cashiers about me. Now, I wish I had gone back and said something, but at the time I was just so embarrassed that I wanted out of there. So now, I always request a gift receipt as a type of knee-jerk reaction.

I also got asked to 'move along' once while going through blind bags, after being asked about three times by employees if I 'needed help' and after it was pointed out that I had been 'looking at those things awhile'. >.>

Hmm lets see...I wish I could grow a mustache just to see what it's like.

Normal Horror Games don't scare me since I pretty much exercised my fear.

I enjoy playing games that girls don't enjoy playing, and I'm a little bit late in life loving MLP.

Yup. I know I'm weird.

I don't get that much. Even before my daughter was born. I never cared about people nocticing I am buying toys for myself. Though I do think its more convientant to have a little girl to say your buying them for her. lol. Which may or not be the case for me because I do buy her ponies once in awhile.

People think I'm weird anyway

I get the odd look here and there but most folks assume i'm buying ponies for a child and don't ask.

I do get the odd weird grin aimed my way when I ask to see monster high dolls at argos (to check whats in stock) and my other half goes 'do you already have them then or is there one you don't have' lol.

I only mention ponies to my man and my Dad though my nan is aware I'm going to Ponycon (though she doesn't know what it is). I mostly keep my ponies to myself, though a few folks know I customize.

i've worked retail for over 15 years, and yes i do always greet each person and ask them if they need help,
but i can tell when a person doesn't want my help at all.
it usually means one of two things.
1. they are planning to shop lift
2. they are the type who doesn't want others involved in their shopping.
sadly it's reason #1 that gets you guys hassled alot. and the main reason i sit and talk to them when they ask me questions.
usually they walk away annoyed before i do. i want to make sure they remember me, cuz if i was planning to steal i would try to remain as unmemorable as possible.
but flat out mockery is just wrong. so sorry that's happened to you. i always try to be enthusiastic about what the people are interested in. (if possible) or just not comment when the porn magazines get brought to the reg. XD that kinda thing.
though i've had a few times when they took my excitement and friendliness as being a jerk. so you need to be careful who and how far you engage with strangers.

Sometimes I'm really embarrassed, and I get my mum to buy them for me. :( More often than not that's what ends up happening. I'm still a teenager (sort of? hahaha, I'm still in the -teens) so I worry about seeing people I know in the store. I wear a lot of pink / girly things, so when I have run into people I know I simply say "Ponies are just so cute, and this one would match my room!" And they just seem to laugh and agree. After being mockingly called "Pony girl" in school my aversion to being identified as such has grown. I just love pretty pink things, other people love make up, and electronics, what's so wrong with loving ponies?
